Pinterest Party

This is from the Pinterest party that my daughter May May and her friends had
back before Christmas.  I realized that I haven't shown all the projects!!!
Modge Podge coasters!
So cute!!!
This is blessing bags that I made for a ministry at our church.
I found this project on Pinterest. They advised to keep
some in your car for the homeless people.
We took them to the hospital for the
family members of patients in ICU.
Beautiful Cannisters!

This was a project that one of the girls saw on Pinterest
and had it done. I just love it!
I wonder how many days it says today until
Christmas!!

This is a few of our projects.
We had so much fun!
Hope we have another one soon!

Refreshing

This post looks like it is about flowers and I am linking up with
Tootsie for Fertilizer Friday and I am proud of my flowers
BUT this post is really about a little girl that
I met today.

I was getting my nails done today and saw the little girl come in with her dad.
She was 13 years old.  The dad was bringing her to her Mom.
She kissed her Mom and said hello to her.
Her Mom never looked at the Dad so I assumed that they were divorced.
She said hello to the little girl. (We will call the little girl, Debbie.)
The Dad hugged Debbie and left.
You could tell that they were very close.

The Mother started asking Debbie questions about her life and I could
tell that she doesn't see her too much. Debbie was very articulate and confident
and respectful to her Mom.
You could see that they were not as close as her and her Dad though.

The Mom got on the computer and was playing a game or something.
I asked Debbie how old she was. I asked her what grade she was in.
She told me that she was in the 8th grade and she was home schooled.
She said that her Dad home schooled her but it was a Christian program called
Alpha and Omega.  I have heard of it and heard nothing but good things.
She explained that you are on your own and if you need help your parents are there
to do that.  She said it is fun to learn and she can't wait to get up in the mornings.

I could tell by the way she talked that she was raised right and that she
was probably a Christian.  But I soon found out for sure.

Another young lady walked in (We will call her Linda) and I realized that they must be cousins and they were glad to see each other.  Linda was probably around 17 or so.
They were having a conversation about life and then Linda said, "I am so excited!! I can't hardly stand it! I am going to see Hunger Games tonight!
You wanna go?"

Debbie looked at Linda and said,
"I really would like to spend time with you ,but I have no desire to
see the Hunger Games, but thank you." Her cousin laughed, and said,
"Why?"

Debbie, very sweetly told Linda that she had read the reviews
on this movie from Focus on the family's Plugged In Movie Reviews and
after reading the reviews she decided that she didn't want killing, murdering,
blood and gory things entering her mind.  She shared with her cousin that
what you let enter your mind is what comes out. She told her that she was
not being judgemental but that is how she lives her life.

Debbie went on to ask her if she would like to go see "October Baby" sometime?
You can also read about that movie Here!
Linda asked her what it was about and
Debbie went on to tell her about the movie with a big smile on her face.
Linda was not interested and said that it didn't sound like her kind of movie.
She said she likes blood and murders.
Debbie explained that she had only read the reviews
but she likes movies about life and good things.

What was so sad, is that the mother kind of made fun of her about her standards in her life.
Her daughter was so respectful and kept a smile on her face the whole time.
I found it quite refreshing. This little girl is such an example to all of us to
be so careful what we watch, listen to, or read.  She chose the good things even though it wasn't the popular thing.
It was like a breath of fresh air.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Fertilizer Friday/ Flaunt Your Flowers

I just love all the things that are blooming here at our house!
This picture does not do this bush justice.
It is gorgeous!
Our white azaleas are trying to bloom.
They don't last long but are so pretty.
It won't be too long, this will be solid white.
"Sweet Hunter" keeps a perfect yard.
This is the creek that you hear when you are sitting on my screened in porch!
Sounds so peaceful.

This is what we see in our front yard when looking out
any of our front windows.
What more can you ask for???
We are so blessed.

Friday Night Sew In

Hosted by Heidi & Bobbi!!
Thank you both for all your motivation.
*********
Today started out great!
I was so excited about this FNSI!

Clean house......check!
I don't like Chinese food and I don't like rice,
but I love this rice at this Chinese place.
I actually think it is the soy sauce that I like.
Lot's of soy sauce!!!
Late lunch or early supper on the porch!
Enjoying the view.

Listening to the thunder and waiting on the rain.
Easy, quick supper for "Sweet Hunter".

P.J.'s ready for the Friday Night Sew In.
Things could not be going any better.

Fabric ready.
I knew exacty what I wanted to do.
I repinned something on my friend, Krista's board on Pinterest.
By the way, you need to visit her blog. Just click on her name.
She has such a ministry with her words.
She will bless your heart.

It looked so easy in the video!
Ten minute project????
Everything's going great!

Until I turned it right side out!!!
Does that look like a mitered corner to you?
I was so disappointed.
I must have done something wrong...really wrong!! ( smile)
You can click on the picture of the video and it should take you there.
It really does look so easy.
So I started another project!!
Nothing completed tonight.
I knew today was going too good!
But I still enjoyed my time in my sewing room!!!
Today made me think of Granny's verse:
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Hooter Hider????

This is a sewing machine that my "Sweet Hunter" bought me over 30 years ago.
It has been put up for a while until about a week ago.
I decided to get it out and do something different.

So I made this for my daughter, "May May"!
I was so excited about it.
Are you wondering what it is?
I thought it was called a nursing cover but when I gave it
to "May May", she was so excited and yelled....
A Hooter Hider! A Hooter Hider!
(giggle)
I thought I would have to explain what it was!
I guess not. lol
It is so cute if I say so myself. Look at those little feet sticking out.
It is light weight and has a strap to go around her neck.
Then between the straps I put boning inside the casing.
This enables the Mom to see the baby and the baby to see the Mom at the same time
as you hide your hooters (smile) from everyone else!!!

I also made my grandson a little baby bunting.
He loves to be swaddled so I thought this would help Mommy.
I haven't added the velcro yet because I needed to see him in it.
It fit him so good.
Is he a little doll or what?
"May May" texted me this picture tonight showing the
"hooter hider" in the diaper bag ready to go!
Then she sent this picture showing me that the "hooter hider"
is multifunctional!!! She is so funny!
Then she called me and told me that as they were walking through the
store, "Brudder" got hungry.  Normally she would go to the car or a private place
but not tonight!
She was able to walk through the store while feeding the baby covered up with the "hooter hider"!! I LOVE it!

*************
As many of you know, I haven't felt the greatest lately.
Just wanted you to know that I am getting better all the time.
When my hands and shoulder hurt so bad, my doctor told me that it was arthritis and
gave me meds to help with the pain. (I hate medicine).
She basically told me that I would have to live with it.
"Sweet Hunter" kept telling me to go to chiropractor, so I finally did.
It has been 3 weeks now and I don't have a lot of pain in my hands anymore.
I never knew that they could adjust your thumbs.  The shoulder is taking some time, but is
so much better. I am not even on the medicine anymore.
I was so sad because I couldn't crochet anymore, (or right now, anyway) so I started sewing!!!
Please continue to pray for me along with many unspoken request for my friends..
