Which Home Are You?

My goals in my life have always been to be a good wife, a good mother, & a good Gran!
I have joined Courtney in this challenge.
It started the first of October.

Which Home are you?

Home #1

1. The woman of the home is distant. She is pulled into her computer, television, books, or text messages and it’s hard for the family to connect with her. She wonders why no one seems to listen to her? The children don’t obey her and her husband is insensitive.

2. The woman of the home is distracted. Her calendar is very full and her daily demands are so high it’s hard for her to focus and live in the moment with her husband and children. She is often late and rushing everyone and feeling guilty about being distracted but stuck in this rut of feeling overwhelmed and too busy.

3. The woman of the home is crabby. She is short on sleep, she hasn’t had a minute alone since the 1990′s and she really can’t see a light at the end of the tunnel to get a break. She is hopeless.

4. The woman of the home is discontent. She doesn’t like her home. She doesn’t like her husband. She doesn’t like one or all of her kids. She doesn’t like her church. She doesn’t like her neighbors. Truthfully, she doesn’t even like herself.

5. The woman of the home doesn’t pray. It’s counter cultural. She’s never lived in a home with a mom who prays. She doesn’t know other moms who pray. She wants to try praying but doesn’t know where to begin so she never begins.

Home #2

1. The woman of the home is engaged. She is aware of what everyone is doing right in that moment. If a child needs help or correction – she is right there to give it. If her husband needs a hug, an encouraging word or a helping hand she is right there to care. She is playful and makes time to tickle, dance, play checkers or Wii with her family. This is a woman whose family praises her (Prov. 31:28).

2. The woman of the home is wise with her time management. She guards her family from getting so busy that they lose their connection with each other. She dissects her calendar and eliminates things that are unnecessary. She is prepared when it is time to go somewhere to alleviate the stress that comes from late minute rushing. She and her family enjoy the slow paced life she has created in her home.

3. The woman of the home has a pleasant demeanor. She does not stay up late watching television, reading, surfing the web or working. She goes to sleep at a reasonable hour so she can wake cheerfully for her family. She knows that some seasons of life are harder than others so she is patient with her season of life and is confident that she will reap what she has sown. She works diligently trusting God with the results of her labor.

4. The woman of the home is content. She knows that no home, husband, child, church or neighborhood is perfect. So she chooses to be content with what God has given her for today.

5. The woman of the home prays. She knows that she is weak but God is strong and that she cannot fulfil the role of wife, mother, homemaker and sometimes employee, on her own strength. She is completely dependent on God and practices this dependence by daily praying for all of these things.

I know which home I strive to be.
I want to be a "Proverbs 14:1 woman.
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

One Project A Month January 2011 OPAM

I joined in the OPAM with Peg & Kris and it really motivated me to finish some things!
This is a set of burp cloths that I gave to my neice for a gift!

This is how I packaged them. Remember the paper flowers that the
Grands & I made?

Yes, I know that you have saw my dish cloths before but I absolutely loved crocheting them.
The top 2 here are some of the ones I made.
The white one my BFF Vicki made and the blue one I
received in a dish cloth swap.  I just wanted to show you my little stack.

I have worked on this little baby quilt for quite a while.
I finally completely finished it and it is ready to be a gift for someone special.

Yes, I know.....Dish cloths again!
I can't help myself.
I probably have made 15 but gave most of them away.
Remember I am addicted.

I know that you saw this in another post but wanted
to include it in my OPAM finishes for January.

Here are some more burp cloths for a special little baby boy.

I also added a couple of pacifier clips to go with this gift!

And yes, I know you saw my fabric Christmas bags already but I just had to show them one more time.
(Smile)

One thing that I have always had a problem with is finishing things!
I have finally figured out to pick projects that are easy to finish.
So these challenges are great motivation for me.
A Special "Thank You" goes to:
Peg & Kris with the OPAM Challenge &
Allie with Christmas Through The Year Challenge &
Heidi & Bobbi with the Friday Night Sew In

You have just got to go and check out Sweet Teen's blog!!!
She did a project for school and it is awesome.
I am so proud of her and she is so gifted.
She is also my "Blog Pick" of the week!

Today I am thankful for ...................encouragement.

"Little Gifts"

I received this before Christmas from Jocelyn!
I could not believe that someone sent this for no reason except they cared.
The book is Praying God's Will For My Son and then the movie is a life changing movie.
Thank you Jocelyn!

"Little Gifts" mean a lot!
I received these seeds from Darla!
She shared her seeds last year and I enjoyed them all year long.
When I saw that she was offering to send them this year I was so excited.
Thank you Darla!!!

Look at this beautiful Dish cloth!
I joined a swap over at Farm Girls!
This dish cloth is from Susan B. and she doesn't have a blog.
Thank you Susan!
I sent her one of my yellow and white dish cloths.
My friend Becky shared this site with me and told me about the dish cloth swap!
This was so much fun!

This is some fabric and quilt blocks that my "Cousin Nancy" sent me.
I love it!
Thank you Nancy!

My "Sweet Mother" always gives me a subscription to a magazine for my birthday.
This is the one I have enjoyed this past year!
Thank you Mom!

This is a gift from several years ago.
My BFF Vicki found this at a yard sale and bought it for me!
When you have those dreaded hot flashes this fan is a life saver!
It goes with me everywhere I go.
Why am I talking about this fan since I have had it for a while?
Because I love this fan more and more everyday!
(smile)

I wanted to tell you about this "Little Gifts"  Campaign that Becky has going on over at her blog!
I loved this idea.  When I saw it I thought of all the gifts I have received from bloggers, family and friends.
We all want to give but Becky is showing us that it is also the little things that make a difference.
So I am joining her in trying to do some little things.  I can't always do big gifts but I can share a hello, a smile, an email or a phone call to someone that may need that on that very day.  The first day that I joined this campaign it really made me stop and think and be aware that there are hurting people everywhere. I was sitting at the hospital with the family of a sick friend and a man came to change the trash bag in the garbage can.  I had watched as he worked and noticed that nobody acknowledged him.  He looked so unhappy.  So I thought to myself....how can I brighten his day?  I am naturally a shy person so this is a challenge for me.  I asked him how he was and then we talked about the snow that was coming.  I thanked him for his service that he provided.  As he walked away he had a smile on his face and told us to be careful going home.  I ended up with the blessing. There are many people that we can not help.  Sometimes it will take a miracle and that is out of my hands except for praying.  Everybody is fighting some kind of battle but we can do some little things that might cheer someone along their way.   If you would like to join in please visit her blog.  You will be blessed.  So thank you Becky for making me stop and think about the "Little Gifts".

Peace On Earth December Challenge

I found this challenge several days ago and am just now putting it on my blog.
It has blessed my heart at a time when my heart needs blessing.
Please join Courtney along with me and many others in this challenge.
If you have a minute listen to her video below.  She has inspired me and I hope that she will inspire you. That is why I am sharing this.

Challenge:
Today: Write at the top of your December calendar page - I Peter 5:7 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." This will be a reminder every time you look at your calendar and feel anxious about all you have to get done - to pray. God cares for you. Release your worries to him and rest in him.

Also, go buy an extra large candle and light a candle everyday in your home in the month of December. I will be starting mine in the morning! But you can start yours at dinner time. I will be placing mine in the kitchen - the main hub of my home. Each time the candle catches your eye, say a prayer for peace in your home.
