The Easter Flood

Its been a while since I updated here.

 This is the long story short.

Not only are we sheltered in due to Corona virus on Easter,

but our little town had a tornado hit. that killed 7 people.

Sweet Hunter kept telling me that night when all the storms were going through tostay in the center bathroom. 

He had me get several quilts and pillows because of the tornado warnings.

Our power was out and honestly we think we heard twisters go by twice that night.

It was so scary.

We knew it rained all night but our rain gauge only showed 4 inches the next day.

We have had many many floods here but never this high.

Sweet Hunter had just landscaped with 100 bales of pine straw. Everything was beautiful.

The day after all the rains and tornados we felt so blessed but

as the day went on the river kept rising.

I normally love when it floods. 

It means nobody can come down our road and its 

almost like we are snowed in. 

We can't get out and nobody can get in.

But this time it was different. 

We watched as the river got so high.

It was beautiful but it wasn't as fun this time.

First of all we had been sheltered in 3 weeks and second it ruined our landscaping.

The pine straw ended up against our fence in the pastures and tore some of the 

fencing down.

(We  have been sheltered in for 5 weeks as I write this.)

We bought these beautiful pots many years ago at an estate sale. I have always been so proud of them.

The river took them but thankfully as of today 

Sweet Hunter found them and brought them back up for me.

They are huge.

Bless his heart.
He tried waders. 
Then garbage bags.
Then just got soak and wet.

During the flood we noticed it kept knocking the gate 

opened. We had just put 2 heifers in that field because they were due anytime and we wanted to get them away from the 

other cows. Sweet Hunter had to wade in the water which was 4 ft. high at the gate. He had to remove all the logs and straw that was knocking it open to get it closed.

It actually came open twice and one of the cows got out

but we got her up. 

If you feed them, they will come. 

Smile.

Between the virus, the tornados, the flood, 

we are still so blessed and thankful.

What More Can I Do?

First of all let me ask you to forgive my blurry pictures.
I took pictures of pictures.
Second, this is not a typical Easter story,
yet to me, this is what it is all about.

One of our Pastors mentioned in a sermon about the hungry
children in the world going to bed at night with no food to eat and he mentioned how
blessed he was, to be able to  feed his children.

At our church we have a food bank called "The Share Baskets".
It is totally funded by our local Church members.

This little 8 year old boy was sitting next to his mother and listening to
the Preacher and he started crying.
  She just thought that his Dad had scolded him for something.
After church, Josh told his parents that he wanted to talk to them.
He said, "Daddy, I didn't know there were hungry children.  What can I do?"

His Daddy told him, "Josh, do you remember the last deer we killed?
We donated it to the hungry."
Josh said, "But Daddy, WHAT MORE CAN I DO?"
They told him about the food bank at church and how it feeds the hungry.
Then he asked,"Could I donate some food?"
His Daddy explained how you can also donate money and they will go and buy the groceries.



Josh then went to his brothers and sisters and asked if they would help him by donating
their savings from their allowance.  Then his Mom & Dad told them that they would donate too.
They all put their money together and went shopping for groceries.



The next Wednesday night, these children not only donated their money,
but took their time to shop and then unload and stock the shelves in our food pantry at Church.

There are several  that work in the "Share Baskets".
We were all touched as we watched the excitement of these little children
helping to feed the hungry.

This is a real story in my church.
We are so proud of these children.
We were all so touched by watching these little children
and hearing the story from the parents.

We have some slogans in our food bank that we use all the time.
Remember to share with us as we share with others.

Alone we can do a little, but together we can do a lot.

Easter Mug Rug Swap

I stepped out of my box and joined the Easter Mug Rug Swap
over at Aunt Pitty Pats and I had so much fun putting this
all together.  We were suppose to get an Easter Mug and make a mug rug
to match it.  And we were to add some goodies in the package.
My Swap partner was Nadine and this is what all I sent her.

I used my embroider machine again and did more Easter eggs!

This is only my 3rd Mug Rug that I have ever made.
I thought it turned out pretty good.

Then I made her a little card with my rubber stamps!

It's a start, right?

I was tickled how the embroidery turned out.
I thought it looked cute with the mug.
Inside that mug is some candy in a package
that looks like a carrot!

And of course, I had to give one of my dishcloths!
Imagine that, right?

And then my package came from Nadine!!!
Oh my goodness!
Look how sweet she packaged everything!

Look at all these gifts!!!
I was so overwhelmed.
Do you notice that candy in a package shaped like a carrot???
That is exactly what is sitting in her mug that I gave her!!!

Is this not just beautiful?

And look at all the tea that is in it!!

I am so overwhelmed with these beautiful gifts.

I am just a beginner so when I received all these gifts

and saw how professional they looked.....

I felt like I should tell her to send my back and

I would redo it and try to make it better!

But then we talked through email and she told me

how much she loved mine too. She told me that

it doesn't matter if you are beginner. She said that

the enthusiasm that I have for learning means a lot

to her.  She loves to hear that others are learning more.

I guess everyone has to be a beginner at some point, right??

Anyway, I had a ball joining in on this swap.

It was so much fun.

Today I am thankful for.........stepping out of my box.

It is all about HIM

It just seems like lately everything is bad news around here. I know it could be a lot worse and I am so thankful but when all you hear is sad or bad news it gets to you sometimes. As happy as I am that my MOM is some better, it hurts me that I cannot help her more. As happy as I am that my best friend, Vicki is home from the hospital, I just feel so helpless because she feels so bad. I have a son that has a bad arm & after 2 surgeries and lots of therapy he still is in pain & I can't fix it. I have a husband & daughter that have RA and there is not a thing that I can do about it. Another daughter has severe headaches and cannot get relief at certain times and I cannot help. Then we hear some really sad news about a sweet family in our church. It is about my precious friend, Krista's, husbands parents. They had a bad wreck and his Mom has passed away and his dad & brother are in the hospital in very critical condition. I have not been able to talk to Krista but I hope to see them tomorrow. It just breaks my heart & there is nothing I can do except pray for them. Please keep them in your prayers. I know this is so hard for them. I could not imagine what they are feeling. One thing I do know is that Krista & Charlie will see her again. They have that HOPE for sure. If you get a chance you might want to let Krista know that you are praying for them by leaving a note on her blog. I think it would mean a lot to them. They are really special people to me & my husband. It is also Shanda's (who is a new blogger & Krista's niece's) grandparents. Please keep their whole family in your prayers. This sounds like a very sad and depressing post but I don't mean for it to be. There are so many people going through so many things. I know that the Bible tells us not to think it strange that we go through these fiery trials, but it is so hard sometimes. It can be pain, sickness, death or even just unhappiness or depression but we just have to hold on and know that HE is in control. One time my husband & I were going through some things in our lives & a very special man in our church sent us a letter and told us that no matter how hard the winds blow or high the waves get that we just need to stay in the boat. So no matter what comes our way, we just have to trust HIM. Our Pastor tells us all the time that when we are going through a trial to Praise our way out. When we think we cannot STAND anymore, we just have to learn to LEAN. When HE is all we have, HE is all we need. And Know that THIS TOO SHALL PASS! Praise HIM! Praise HIM! Praise HIM! No matter what we go through....It is really all about HIM! I think of what HE went through just for you and me. That is a love that can't be described with words. Where would we be without our Lord??

Day Before, Day of, Day after EASTER

I thought I would share with you our Easter this year. The day before Easter, my grandchildren colored lots of eggs and had a ball. I let them keep their pajamas on all day. We made cookies and did some crafts. It was a fun day. Then we had a great lunch yesterday, (Easter) at my moms (Nana's)house! Everybody brought something and it was a wonderful lunch. We missed my daughter Maranda & her husband, Cory and my sister, Brenda and her family. After we ate the kids went out and had an Easter Egg Hunt. It was very cool and windy. Then comes today, the day after Easter......and we had SNOW! It wasn't much but it was beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice! It just covered the ground and went away almost as quick as it came, but it was so pretty.
