Wash Day Or Christmas Day At Granny's House

My sweet honey & I went to see Granny on Christmas day and found her sitting there doing her word search puzzles. I don't buy Granny any presents because she is just like me.....or am I just like her. We don't need anything. But I did cut some of the fabric that some of you bloggers have sent and brought it to her in a bag. She loved it. I try to bring her a few things all year long but it is not presents but you would think that it was gold. I bring things like a Coke, or cake, or dishwashing liquid. Honestly she loves that. I love her simplicity. That is what I want to be like. I am pretty simple already. I don't require much at all thank goodness.

Look at this quilt! Granny had just finished it. This fabric is from
Thearica! She sent a lot more fabric so you will see more quilts made from her fabric.

I asked Granny how she was enjoying this Christmas day and she said it was fine but it was actually "wash day". I told her that I forgot it was Friday. She said she best get up and get her "wash" out of the dryer. I beat her to it though and started folding them. It just amazes me that it doesn't matter what is going on, she is still on that schedule of Fridays being "wash day".

She also made this quilt. She says with her Singer 401A she can whip out 2 quilts a week.
This quilt is already sold. This is truly a scrappy quilt.

Can you imagine 96 years old and making 2 quilts a week??

Granny had took her bath and was smelling so good.

She was going to my cousin Shirley's for a Christmas
party. She was excited.

Me and Granny make a good team. I just love her!

This was my best Christmas present getting to help Granny with "wash day" on Christmas Day.

Christmas Love

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love to my family,

I'm just another decorator.


If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned table at mealtime, but do not show love to my family,
I'm just another cook.

If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love to my family,

it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir's cantata, but do not focus on Christ,

I have missed the point.

Love stops the cooking to hug a child.

Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the spouse.

Love is kind, though hurried and tired.

Love doesn't envy another's home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens.

Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way.

Love doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return, but rejoices in giving to those who can't.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

Love never fails. Video games break, pearl necklaces will be lost, golf clubs will rust, but giving the gift of CHRISTMAS LOVE will endure.

Christmas Mail For Granny & More Quilts

Granny was showing me her Christmas table cloth.

She was so proud of it.

When I got to Granny's house this morning she had a little bowl and was cutting up an onion in it.

I asked her what was in the little bowl and she said she cut up some potatoes and then sliced some fresh squash and topped it with onions. It was in a cereal sized bowl. I asked her what she was going to do with it and she said I will cook it for my dinner. It was about 9:30 am. She doesn't eat lunch until 11:30 but she was preparing it early.

I asked daddy later how she cooked that and he said she fried it. He said it was really good. I am always in awe of Granny's simplicity.

And she really loved this! You can't see it but taped to the card is some sewing machine needles.

Granny thought that was something. She said who would have ever thought to send needles?

Granny is making 2 quilts a week now. It is not because she is faster because if anything she is slowing down. Her little legs are giving her trouble. She says she is having trouble walking. But she says her sewing machine hasn't slowed down. This is a full size quilt made with a childrens fabric. It has all of the colors so it could be for a boy or girl. This is not a small quilt. This would make a great gift for any little boy or girl. It is so pretty. It will be on the sidebar for sale if anyone is interested.

This quilt is one of her prettiest quilts! I love it and it feels so warm and cozy!

Granny was talking today about how blessed she has been from you all buying her quilts.

Thank you all so much. I don't know how long she will be doing this but you all have made her days hopeful. She says that this gives her something to get up for in the mornings. She also told me today that she woke up late this morning. I said, "What time did you get up Granny?" (because I could not imagine Granny getting up late) She goes to bed at 7 p.m.-

Anyway she said, "Beth, I slept until 6 am!!!!! She said "you can't get quilts made if you lay in bed until 6 am!" I thought that was so cute! 6 am is early to me!

Christmas Decorations Or Wedding Stuff?

No, this is not Christmas presents. Maranda worked on her bridal party gifts tonight.

She is so neat and organized.

This is my pile for the rehearsal dinner. We have to do it a couple of days earlier than the wedding because the Hall already had a party reserved the night before. Nevertheless, this is all ready to be packed in the car and took the day of the rehearsal dinner. Believe this or not, it really is all organized. It may not look like it but it is.

One of my best friends is also a great wedding coordinator and she will be in charge of the wedding so she will be picking this up to add to all of the other things soon.
Now you see why I can't put up Christmas Decorations this year!
We are actually leaving after the wedding to go off for a few days so we will not even be here.
My daughter Shannon is hosting our Family Christmas party this year once we all get home so we will enjoy her Christmas tree and decorations.

I did accomplish something besides wedding things today. I am in charge of making Chicken Enchiladas for our family Christmas party and since we will be out of town I wanted to have them put together, frozen, and ready to cook when we come home from our trip.

So, as you can see there will be no Christmas decorations in my house this year but that is no problem. My family is so blessed. I have been married to the most wonderful man for 31 years and we have 4 grown children. We are very proud of our 4 grandchildren. We have 2 wonderful son in laws and will be adding another son in law this coming Saturday. We are blessed with our mothers and my dad in our lives. I have my 2 sisters and sweet honey has a brother and all of their families are in our lives. And of course, I can't forget my 96 year old Quilting Granny. Who could ask for more? Thank you Lord.

I cut all the fabric up for Granny.

Don't look at the mess. We are getting ready for a wedding and things are boxed up everywhere.

This is where I cut my fabric. I love my cutting table. It folds out to be a lot bigger than that.

It also has lots of storage. I bought it at Walmart years ago.

She was amazed at this snowman too and when I opened it up and she saw candy it made her day. She loves something sweet after she eats.

This is the last quilt that Granny made this week. My dad just called and said she is putting the binding on one right now. So that makes 2 this week! Amazing for a 96 year old don't you think?
She told me that if I hadn't sold her quilts for her that she would not have to make any and it gives her hope that someone wants something she has made. Thank you to all of you bloggers and friends. You all make Grannys day when you buy a quilt from her.
