Small World

When we took our Golf cart to get it redone this is the place we brought it.
I have never ever saw so many old cars.

While "sweet hunter" was talking details with the guy, I of course was
walking around taking pictures.

Then I started listening to their conversation and the guy was telling
Sweet Hunter about the cars and how he has this business
just by word of mouth.

Some of these cars have actually been redone and been in movies.
My ears perked up when I heard that.

Then he told us about how some people have had him start the process of
fixing these old cars up and then this economy hit and some can't even pay
for the work that has been done on the cars.
I think he said that 8 are just sitting and waiting.

There was a lady inside the building and I smiled at her as she was
cutting some upholstery fabric.
Then the man told us that she was his wife and that she has been a
great help to him in this business.

He said that she would rather be in the house quilting
and he would rather her be but right now he needed
her in the business!!!
DID HE SAY QUILTING?

So I mosy (is that a word?) right over to her and introduce myself.

I asked her about her quilting.
She said that is her hearts desire but
right now with the economy she was having to help her husband.

As we talked I share the chicken scratch that I was working on
in the car. I went out and got it and it was the butterfly and wasn't finished
but she loved it.

We all hit it off first thing!
As we got to talking we found many more things that we had in common.

The more we talked the more we enjoyed meeting them
and hearing about their life.
They are very hard working people
with lots of goals.

This picture hanging on the wall was one of the cars in a movie.
I think it was called "I'll Fly Away". Not real sure about that name though.
He said the guy has $150,000.00 in this car.
Can you imagine?

Then he pulled out this drawer full of pictures and showed us
many more pics of cars that he had redone.
I told his wife that I would rather see her quilts but she
said that she hasn't got to do any in a while.
But then she went on to tell me that her 86 year old mother
quilted all the time. She hand quilts and has a frame that hangs
from the ceiling.
O.K. Now my eyes are getting big!

Then they told us where to walk down to see the river.
It was right next to the "mothers" house.
So as we walked to see the river I was looking at the Mothers house!
Oh I want to go and visit her.
"Sweet Hunter" said that the river was way too big for me.
He thought I would be disappointed but I had something else in mind.

I told him that I would go visit the Mother that quilts.
The man and woman heard me say that and they were thrilled.
They said that would make her so happy.
They said she is an herb doctor and knows how to tell you to doctor anything
with the herbs that she grows.  They also shared that she could tell you the names
of every flower in her yard.  She also tends to a big garden in the back yard.
They also told us that the mother and daughter make hominy every year.
Hominy?  That just doesn't sound good to me.
They said it was delicious.
They said they have a recipe that they use and they cook it outside.
They also invited us to come when they do that.
Oh I wanted to go visit right then but we didn't have the time!
But we do have plans to go back and I can't wait.
"Sweet Hunter" is excited about fishing and
I am excited about visiting this little 86 year old woman.
They told us to plan to stay a whole day because
she will not let us leave without cooking a full country meal for us!
Well that sealed the deal for me!
I can't wait to go fishing...........NOT!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR........new friends!

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." -Proverbs 18:24 KJV

I Love It When I Am Missed

Life has been so busy lately but we managed to get in a little trout fishing.
It was 95 degrees but down at this beautiful river it was much cooler.
I caught 4 little fish and 1 good trout.
Sweet hubby only caught 3 or 4 trout.
I guess it was too hot for the fish too.
Between my work, life in general, working in the garden and all of the other things that keeps us all busy I haven't even blogged in about a week or so. That is so unusual for me because blogging is one of my favorite hobbies.
It is nice to know that I have been missed. I have received several emails and phone calls asking me why I haven't blogged. Thank you.
We are just starting to get some vegetables out of our gardens.
My Dad planted things that I don't even know what they are. Do you know what this is?
I figured it was a type of squash.

We have been out of town but my Dad said he picked about a bushel of beans while I was gone and they are already to pick again! Busy, busy, busy and it all starts over again Monday! I am thankful for "busy" though.

Prayer Request: A Mothers heart.

Thank you for missing me!

Did you know that blogs can get too full of pictures? Well mine is about to overflow so I will be starting another blog soon. I will let you know when it is ready. I hope you all will visit me when I get it all set up. I LOVE my blogging buddies!

*Also, if you look at my sidebar you will notice that it is "Angels" birthday tomorrow! You can click on her picture and it will take you to her blog. Happy Birthday to my sweet Angel!

Perseverance

It was a beautiful day so after church we decided to take the boat out and go fishing in the Tennessee River.
As soon as we started out in the river the bottom fell out of the sky.
I have never saw so much rain.
We immediately put our rain suits on and headed for the bridge to wait the storm out.

We waited.
And waited.
And waited.
When we saw the lightening and heard the thunder we decided to tie the boat up at the dock and go to the truck and wait it out there instead of under the bridge.
This was one of the worst storms that I have ever seen. But we were determined that we were going fishing.
Well it was well worth it!

It wasn't our best day of fishing but it was fun.

We always try to look at things and see the lesson in them.
My sweet hubby said....Perseverance.
So when I got home I looked that word up.
Steady persistence in adhering a course of action, a belief, or a purpose; steadfastness.
I am telling you...we have way too much fun together!
As soon as the rain stopped and the sun was peeking through, this bird was ready to pounce on a fish! We watched him catch a whole lot more fish than we did!

Then on the way home we saw this.....
My sweet hubby had to stop and fill up at this price!
He said he never thought he would see gas for 2.39 ever again!

I hope you all have a great Memorial Day!

Sure Honey!

Sweet Hubby: Wanna go fishing?
Me: Sure Honey.
Sweet Hubby: Look how big this river is.
Me: Look. There is a little dock I could fish from.
Sweet Hubby: I bet there are some big ones in here.
Me: Looks kind of rough to me.
Sweet Hubby: Look at those deep holes.

Me: Where you going honey?

Sweet Hubby: Just follow me.

Me: O.K.?

Sweet Hubby: Wrong place. Turn around.
Me: Looks awful snakey to me.
Sweet Hubby: O.K. Lets go over here. You go first.
Me: O.K. (Hey how did hubby get that camera?)

Sweet Hubby: Just climb over. Come on!

Oops!
Now you think this is staged for the picture but this is really actually me falling down.
Sweet hubby had the camera because he was carrying stuff for me as we went down this trail.
I went trout fishing a long time ago deep in the woods with hubby and I said that I would not do that again. How I got here, I just don't know! I found out a while back that there are 2 ways to trout fish. You can go deep in the woods with the snakes and bears or you can pull your car off and fish in a shallow stream. I like the shallow stream! We finally stopped and he caught a couple of good trout. I caught about 5 little succers! I think I like fishing from the boat better! It was so fun though!! I love our special trips.
Next time I say "sure honey"......I will make sure where we are going! Ha!

Remember this???

This was back in June of this year. We had went fishing in a nearby river.
I caught my fish and my sweet honey told me that he had fished for many years and had never caught a small mouth Bass like I caught. My heart was pounding. I was so excited. My fish weight 5 lbs and for smallmouth bass that is pretty good. I was feeling very proud. Then all of the sudden, 10 minutes later sweet honey pulled one up bigger than mine! His was 5 1/2 lbs. Now both our hearts were beating so fast. We had so much fun that night. He just thought it was amazing that we both caught huge smallmouth bass in such a short time.
We normally don't keep our fish but we wanted to get these mounted and so we did.
We just got them back this week. Aren't they something?
My heart still beats fast just thinking about the day we caught these.

Sweet honey's fish is on the top and mine is on the bottom. I love the way the guy mounted these on a piece of driftwood. This is making me want to go fishing!!!!

Blue Ridge Lake

This lake was absolutely beautiful. The fishing was lousy but the views were beautiful. We were told that Travis Tritt and Faith Hill own homes on this lake. This lake has a rocky bottom and in some places you can actually see the bottom. It is cystal clear and almost blue. The lake is home to bass, bream, catfish, perch and crappie, which make the area popular with anglers. It is the only lake south of the Great Lakes where Walleye are caught, and is also known for white bass fishing. Enjoy the pictures below.

Look At All The Books In This Cabin

I thought you might enjoy seeing the books & magazines here in this cabin in Blue Ridge Georgia. These are just a few, but I was intrigued by all of them. I was just amazed how many there are. The books are wonderful books. You can tell what kind of people the owners are by the things in the cabin. The owners are friends of my daughter, Mandy. That is how we found out about this cabin. We were just going to stay in a motel but when Mandy found out we were coming she called and we came over and saw this little piece of heaven and received a blessing by getting to stay here. I have thought of my Mom a lot while here. She is a reader and as I have looked around at all of these books and magazines I could just imagine her sitting here on the back porch listening to the water flowing in this little creek as she was reading. We are here to fish but this cabin just makes you want to stay here and do nothing. We will be staying here again.
