Learning to do embroidery!

I have been working on these for a while but finished them this month!

Perfect???  NO, but I am learning a lot!
I found these patterns in Sweet & Simple Embroidery by Gooseberry Patch.
I plan on putting these in frames just like it shows in this book.

Chicken Scratch.
This pattern came out of the book
More Chicken Scratch & Candlewicking by Pegasus Originals.
I did add the leaves on the trees and the grass!
I have been working on this off and on but it is finished now.
It was so much fun.

And now there are 2 Chrysanthemum Dish cloths!!!!
I showed you the one on the left that I learned in my crochet class the other day!
I wanted to try to do one on my own and I did it!!!
It's not perfect either but I already have another one started so I can learn more!

Today I decided to find a pattern for baby booties.
I wasn't sure I could do it but I did!
I didn't do it right but I will take the pattern
when I go to my crochet class and get Polly (my teacher)
to show me what I did wrong. 
I think I may even have them wrong side out but I am still so proud of them!

This little matching hat is for a newborn baby.
Polly (my crochet teacher) wants us to learn how to read patterns
so I am so excited that I did this all by myself!
I think she will be proud of me for practicing!!

Isn't this so cute?
I didn't do the flower but I do want to try it.
I already had it in some of my things.
There is more to go with this little newborn set
and I am so excited to learn how to make it all!!!

Sweet Teen's Chicken Scratch & Sewing

One day "Sweet Teen" wanted to learn chicken scratch. 
Since I am just a beginner myself it thrilled me that she wanted to learn from me!

Here she is working all on her own.

She did 2 projects in one afternoon. 
I love it when my Grands ask me to teach them things.

This is her first project that she finished.

Excuse the marks on it. 
We forgot to rinse them off!!!
Isn't it pretty though?
(even with those marks)!

She picked this one out of the book to do.
She loves kitty's!

Since I took this picture of this finished project
she has added some white filling stitches.
It is just beautiful.

Remember a couple of months ago when
Sweet Teen had a school project and
we made some pajama pants?

Here they are all finished!
She finished them herself. 

And look at this!!! She made her own pattern!
She was going to get a tank top and applique a
butterfly or heart on the front but her teacher
wanted something that she had sewn herself.

I was so impressed that she did that top all on her own!

Do you think I am a proud Gran???
I am!
We have 4 and one on the way!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.......Grands that love me!

A Hundred years From Now

...it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a CHILD!

Why? & My 3rd Chicken Scratch Project

WARNING:

I have had a couple of people tell me that they have received stranges emails from me!  DO NOT OPEN. I DID NOT SEND THESE.  I guess this happens every once in a while with facebook, blogger or even your email.  But WHY?Just know that it is not me and don't open. I have changed all my passwords so maybe that will fix it. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused anyone.  Just know that I don't send junk email.....ever!!!

  I might add some trees or maybe not but this one was so easy!

One reason is the gingham checks are bigger and I also used a pattern! I found the pattern Here! I already have another project started! Would you say addicted????

Today I am thankful for.......vacations!!!

My Second Chicken Scratch Project

Warning:  This is only my second chicken scratch project so don't get too excited.
The other problem was I couldn't find a butterfly pattern for chicken scratching  so
I found an outline of a butterfly on the internet and just hung this fabric right up
on my laptop and traced it and made my own pattern!!!
 I guess you could say that I made my own light box!!! lol

I went to hobby lobby and used my 40% off coupon and
 bought this little bitty light and it sure does make a difference.

So I thought and thought and tried to figure out where to start and
then I remember about starting with the outline.

So that is what I did.  I found the neatest crochet yarn in my Grandma's old sewing basket
and it was perfect for this project.  So I am dedicating this butterfly to my
Grandma Cochran who is in heaven.

I had to put my thinking cap on since I didn't have any directions.
You will see that I have made several mistakes but you know what???
It's ok.

I worked on this every chance I got.
I work mostly in the car while riding because I don't sit down at home.
The last long trip we went on I set me up an area in the back seat and had
a ball crocheting &  doing chicken scratch! 
Yes, the back seat. There are several reasons why I sit
in the back seat on long trips.
1. Sweet Hunter freezes me out.
2. He listens to sports talk the whole way.
3. I can set up a little craft area right in the back seat and I am a happy camper!

Before I show you this finished project I wanted to tell you that I finished 13 dish cloths this month for  Christmas Through The Year With Allie!

Drum Roll please........

What do you think?  Yes, one wing is bigger than the other but ....oh well.
I had a ball. I got lots of experience and learned from my mistakes.
I LOVE it if I say so myself!  I will make this into a pillow to match my Hummingbird pillow! 
 I have already started my third chicken scratch project.  I am working it on larger squares and found out it is a lot easier.  I am following a pattern on my 3rd project but may add a few additions. 
I am having way too much fun!!!

Chicken Scratch With BFF & FNSI

My best friend told me that when we went on our annual Helen Ga.
trip that she would teach me how to do chicken scratch.
I was so excited.  This picture is where she was showing me
 how she marked her pattern on her fabric.

Vicki told me to bring my fabric, needles and thread
and be ready to chicken scratch all week!
I was ready!

Remember seeing this? 
Isn't it beautiful?
This is what she is working on.
She is planning on making a quilt with hers.

So she showed me the 3 stitches and we picked out a pattern.

From here I took it on my own.
I fell in love with this craft!

I didn't really know what I was doing but Vicki
had explained to me to do the outline first.
I noticed that my outline color was not showing up
like it should so I found a darker green and went
in between each light green stitch.

Alright. I could see it coming together!
There were no instructions on how to fill it in so I improvised.

Can you tell that I picked the hummingbird pattern?
I got a bird book and found the prettiest hummer that I could find.

And here it is all finished.
What do you think?
I had a ball doing this. 
It is very addicting and I can't wait to start another one.
