Tour Of Old Homes

This was the second best thing that we did while in St. Augustine, Florida.
It is a tour of old historic homes.

I thought the bird on this shutter was neat.

Most of these homes were for rich people way back when.
You can just tell.

I want this dough bowl!!!!
I want it bad!

I love this old stove too!

Oh I could decorate really good with these things.

Every room had some kind of wood heater.
This room looks like it is ready for a family to come and sit down and eat.
Enjoy the pictures.

I think these people were rich.

I used to have one of these. I sold it in a yard sale.
What was I thinking?

"Angel" asked me what this was for. She was so cute.
I told her this sure makes us thankful for our bathrooms and she agreed.

I need this at the Sparta Hilton. It would make a great washing station for outside.

A Harp with no strings. I guess they had to remove them because of people touching it.

This crazy quilt was at the foot of a bed on a trunk.

Life was good in this room.
Peace.

I want this too!

Pantry

This is one of the rich peoples homes. My Mother has a sister who had a house years ago that was furnished like this.

Yep, they were rich.

This is a close up view of the crazy quilt above that is laying on that bed.

I would love to have this too!

This house had running water and a commode.

I just loved this little picture. This made me think of my blogging friend, "Allie".
I could just see her doing something with this picture. I don't even know if she likes cats but she can make the cutest things. Go check out her lemon tree!

Well that is the end of the "Tour Of Homes" in St. Augustine Florida. I believe it was a total of 9 different homes. I just took random pictures as we walked through. I hope you enjoyed coming along!

How fun! There were a lot of things that I would love to have there.

I will try to find the name of that pottery shop, but it was located in the block that was closest to the old cemetery. I will definitely have to check it out and let you know. I am sure that I still have the receipt as I needed to know where to order pieces in case any broke.

I loved the tour. The only home I visited when we went to Florida last September was Ernest Hemingway's. It was very nice as well. He was pretty eccentric, but his home was nicely decorated. Thanks for sharing. Julie

WOW - I would have loved to join you for that tour! And yes, that chair makes me VERY grateful for modern plumbing, lol. LOVE the floor in the bathroom with the tub...and Val, you are so right, I adore that picture with the kitten! I have a bit of a thing for vintage illustration, and if it has kittens it just all the sweeter...SO cute.

How are you feeling, sweets?

Thank you for taking us along. The wooden headboard on the bed with the quilt is gorgeous. I can just imagine how much time it took to carve all the details. Beautiful.

We had a really great time on the tour, didn't we! I recognized many things that I knew of in my childhood, including the old cookstove, the quilts, and the furniture. I knew you would love all the old houses and furniture!

Love the color of the house and shutters here but I would have never guessed it to be in Florida. It reminds me more of something from the NorthEast. Isn't it funny how we get pre-conceived notions not just of people but of areas of the country? Thanks for the tour! I enjoyed it!

Beautiful pics. I too, would love to have some of the old stoves, furniture. I believe I was born in the wrong time frame. I am sure it required more work to heat, cook, etc., but, the simplicity of life back then has to be admired.

Blessings!
