I was so excited about this months FNSI hosted by Heidi and Bobbi! I also am thrilled to be a part of OPAM! All of these girls are encouragers. I sure would not have been in the sewing room last night if it weren't for them. Thank you to all of you. I didn't know what I was going to work on but decided on something that I thought would be quick and easy. I picked the Potato Baker bag!! |
This was my first attempt to do this and I didn't do the best job but it will work fine for me. I made the bigger bag so I could fit several potatoes in when baking them. |
I love this project because it is so quick and simple to do. Now if I can just learn the stitches and make them look better. |
Please understand that I am just learning embroidery and I am not good at it but I am determined. |
Here is the Mug Mat completed. This is not the Mug Rug but I want to make that too. This is done with felt. It has 4 stitches-the blanket stitch, the stem stitch, the satin stitch & french knots. I had such a good time doing it and now I will have to do 5 more to match this one. I hope I improve every time I do one. Thank you for the encouragement from the Friday Night Sew In & Once A Month Project. Please visit their blogs: Peg at the OPAM Heidi at the Friday Night Sew In Bobbi at the Friday Night Sew In |

The projects look great, Val. I just did a couple of potato bags myself.
You are making great progress on the embroidery. Do you love it?
I did some mug rugs for FNSI.
I take the easy route on baking potatoes Val....I stick them with a knife, put them down in the plastic bag that I put vegetables in at the grocery store, spray inside the bag with Pam, and bake in the microwave. Then toss the bag in the garbage. :) As for your embroidery stitches - my goodness I think you're doing great! Stitching on felt isn't easy - it's kind of thick so that's hard to do. Wool is much, much easier but it doesn't have the stability of felt. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. blessings, marlene
You've gotten so much better at the embroidery. But tell me more about the potato bag..are you going to bake in it and how do you do that?
Mama Bear

Karen
Your mug rug looks great. You're doing really well with your embroidery.
Looks as if you accomplished much on your Friday night. Enjoyed and thanks for sharing. Blessings to you and yours!
A friend of mine once made us a potato bag......she added ric rack to the outside for embellishment. My sweetie wanted to try it out, so he put in the potato, threw it in the microwave, and immediately, the bag was on fire! Seems the ric rack had a metalic content to it. LOL!
Glad you are sewing, and your embroidery looks wonderful!

You are making great progress on the embroidery. Very good blog.
I really enjoy embroidery and have done some quilts with embroidery on the squares. Working on two right now, BOM quilts. It's so relaxing to me. I think you did a great job, Valerie.
I LOVE your mug mat and embroidery
