My New Table

Before Pictures

Me & Mandy painting in the garage

After....

I found this little table at the thrift store. I was so excited. I have been wanting to change my end tables. This is a very big room, but on one end of my sectional, there is only room for a 12 inch wide end table. I have looked everywhere to find something I like and I haven't been able to. Then I walked in the thrift store.........and there it was! I wanted 2 but only found this one. I walked around and thought about it and couldn't keep my eyes off of it. My daughter Mandy came and helped me paint it. We had a lot of fun doing it! You can see how old it looked and now how pretty it is. It is absolutely perfect! Now I think I need some pretty quilted pillows to match the color....Hhhhhhmmmm!

The table looks great. It's fun to find an old castoff and give it a make-over. I love the color, it's basically the color I'm planning to put on my kitchen corner hutch this spring. I bought it unfinished and was too nervous to paint it dark so I compromised and gave it a lighter color and now want to re-do it darker. I'm just waiting for warmer, dry weather.

Also love your quilt class photos! You and mom look more like sisters, both pretty and beautiful smiles!

What a terrific find! I love it when the perfect item appears. You guys look like you are having way too much fun painting together. The older peices have so much character. Job well done.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. Thought I would come by and see what you are up to.

You are so talented, Valerie! Wow, what a neat table for your area with some elbow grease and paint.

Terrific that you are taking some Quilting 101 classes. That is great way to learn the basics and give you the tools you need to get that first top done. Doing it with friends? Even better! I've been at this for 20 years now and trust me, you never stop learning about your crafts. Always some new technique, tool or pattern to try!

Looks like we are sorta neighbors since I am one county over from the GA line?

Beautiful! Isn't it great what a can of paint and some elbow grease can do. Great job.

Wow, I'm impressed! Did you have to sand it first? Did you have to use a special kind of paint? I'm clueless...

It was fun! The table looks beautiful in the living room. I can't wait to find another for the other side. It was nice to spend time with you. It seems we never get to do that anymore! I enjoyed our day!!!

Isn't fun to find great pieces like that?! It turned out wonderful!
A few years ago, I bought an old brown sofa table from a neighbors yardsale. When I stripped the paint off, it turned out to be oak with claw feet that you couldn't even see through all that yucky paint.
