Have You Heard About Sophie?

Little "D" is in love with Sophie!
One of Mandy's friends Joyce, brought Little "D" this little Giraffe.
She has a grandbaby named Oliver who is 12 days older than Davis so she knows what babies like.
Little "D" is almost scooting around and he wants Sophie to come closer!

This teething toy is the best toy I have ever seen.
He will not let it out of his sight.

He played with it so hard in the car that he fell asleep but still held on to Sophie tight. If you have a baby or grandbaby that is teething- this is the best gift ever!
Thank you Joyce!
Honestly, this is the best little toy. I googled it to find out why he loved it so and this is what I found out:
Sophie the Giraffe...a natural rubber teething toy for baby!
Sophie the Giraffe has been a favorite teething toy in France for more than 40 years. Since her creation in 1961, Sophie the Giraffe has wowed hundreds of babies (and parents!) with her natural beauty and charm. More importantly her flexible, renewable, natural rubber materials and non-toxic paint mean Sophie the Giraffe is a safe and all-natural teething toy for your little one. Parents world-wide trust the joy this classic toy brings to their babies.
Lovable and amusing, Sophie the Giraffe has quickly became a popular gift item for newborn babies. With her timeless appeal, Sophie was designed to stimulate the senses and soothe sore, teething gums. Mothers recognize the benefits of this little giraffe almost immediately! Soft, light and easy to grasp, Sophie is perfect for little hands to hold and easy on aching gums. She even makes a delightful "squeak" when squeezed which can't help but bring a smile to any infant's face.
Why parents world-wide LOVE Sophie the Giraffe:
Natural Rubber is soft, safe & non-toxic for baby to teethe & chew.
Lightweight & easy to grasp for tiny hands.
Painted with non-toxic, food-grade paints.
Stimulating to a baby’s senses with her soft colors & gentle squeak.
Sophie the Giraffe is Phthalate-Free with NO Vinyl (no-PVC)!
Bumpy head helps soothe sore, teething gums.
Sophie makes a soft squeak when squeezed - such fun for a baby!
Slender, flexible & soft - babies love manipulating & teething Sophie.
Hand-made in France, Sophie the Giraffe is a classic

Sounds like I sell them, doesn't it? Well, I don't but it is a great teething toy!

Granny Quit Quilting??

This is where I found Granny today.
She was washing up her lunch dishes.

Granny's Sister (left) came to visit her.
They look a lot alike I think.

Granny holding my grandson, her great, great grandson.

This is Granny's sister and her daughter looking at Granny's quilts.

They bought 4 of the quilts. That thrilled Granny!

The baby on the left is Granny's sisters great granddaughter.
She is 6 weeks old.
The baby on the right is my grandson. He is 13 weeks old now. He just gooed and gooed at that baby girl. We figured out they have to be like 6th cousins!

I didn't get to visit much one on one with Granny today because right after I helped her finish up her dishes her sister and family came in. Granny was so thrilled. Normally on a Thursday she is sewing but today the sewing machine was closed up. I heard her tell her sister that she might just quit quilting. My dad has been telling me that sometimes Granny is going back to bed after she gets up and eats breakfast and reads her Bible and prays. That just doesn't sound like Granny. I just know that if Granny quits quilting she would not have anything to get up for. I told her today that I want her to quilt. She thought I said that I wanted her to quit! I told her NO! I think I talked her into keeping on keeping on. We will see. I know she is tired but I also know her love of quilting. She has expressed to me many times how on Mondays she gets up and it makes her happy to start another quilt. She usually quilts Monday - Thursday and of course, Friday is "wash day"! She even told her sister today about "wash day." I almost think she was excited about it. I am not sure. I know there is no changing her mind on her schedule. She was a little confused today. Seeing the 2 babies confused her I think. I just love my Granny so much. I don't want her to quit quilting. It just scares me to think of her getting up and not having anything to do that she loves. I know she is 95 years old but when she talks about quilting or the Lord her eyes light up with life! I want to continue seeing that light in her eyes. Pray for Granny.
*Thank you all that have prayed for my MOM. She is doing some better but had a hard day today. Please continue to pray for her.

A Mother's Love

Mommy kissing her baby goodbye as she leaves for her first day back at work.

Mommy getting in car with a broken heart.

I love you Gran, but where's Mommy?

Tummy Time - Mommy says it is good for me!

So sweet!

Sleeping so good

Working on Alyssa's blanket during naptimes.

My "sweet daughter" Mandy had to go back to work this week. Her baby is 12 weeks old and it was heartbreaking. She is the best little Mom. I am keeping the baby for her while she works. I went to her house on Monday to make it easier for her. He is very attached to his Mom. She is nursing him so it makes it harder to leave him. It was so sad for both of them. Mommy cried and Baby cried and Gran cried! She came home at lunch to feed him and you should have seen his whole face light up. It is amazing that at 12 weeks old he knows her so well. He had a rough day yesterday without her just as she suffered without him. Today was a better day for him though. I don't think it was any easier on Mommy though. I met my "Sweet honey" for breakfast and guess who dropped by as we were leaving......Baby Davis's daddy! I was changing his diaper and he just came and took over. He put him in the car seat and kissed him goodbye. It was so sweet. He is such a good daddy and is willing to help with whatever he can. I think Daddy is having a hard time too just knowing baby is not home with Mommy. I never had to leave my newborn babies so I can only just imagine how they feel. I wanted to share a sweet note that my daughter left me yesterday as she left for work crying. I don't think she will mind me sharing. This note meant the world to me. I try to help all of my children and grandchildren as much as I can but sometimes I need to hear that I am appreciated. Mandy will never know what this note meant to me. There is nothing that could have meant so much to me than this note. Baby Davis did great today (our second day). He took sweet naps and had lots of happy times. My "sweet daughter" Maranda took a vacation day and helped so much. While he was sleeping I worked some more on my "sweet grandaughter," Alyssa's crocheted blanket that I am making her. Tomorrow my other grandchildren will get out of school early so I will have 4 children! Pray for me!

Mom,
First of all, let me start by saying "thank you." This by far is the hardest thing I've had to do my in my entire life. Baby Davis has been the biggest part of me for 52 weeks (pregnancy & 12 weeks old). Everyday I've talked with him, read to him, played with him, and felt him. Today is the first day he will not be with me. I will say that I have cherished each moment I've had with him and I've had a blast! I know that this is much harder for me than for him and I know that he is in great hands. Thank you for making this hard day as easy as it can be. He loves to sit in his bouncy seat in front of the window and look outside. I love for him to do tummy time because he looks like such a big boy. He eats about every 4 hours now. I know you will learn all of this but as a Mommy, I just want to let you know. I know he will love you just as we all do. You are the rock of our family. I am going to be as strong as possible and know that God is in control. Many women (Mommys) have told me, "you will get used to this." The thing is that I don't want to get used to not being with my baby. I thank God each and every day for this miracle and I know that in HIS time everything will work out. I am trying to "trust" this! It is a challenge. I also thank God everyday for you!
I love you and thank you,
Mandy
I just thought you all would enjoy reading my special note from my daughter. There are not words to tell you how much this meant to me.
**Special Prayer Request: Please pray for my "sweet Mom" as she is having some back problems and pray for my 95 year old "Sweet Granny". She is not feeling well at all.**

Special Visits

We surprised my "Sweet Mom" at her job with a visit

bringing her great grandson to see her.

Mom was so surprised.
Me, my grandbaby, and my Mom, my bestest friend in the whole world.

My Sweet daughter with her baby and my Mom.

Granny holding her great great grandson, Davis.

My daddy holding his great grandson.

He had him laughing out loud. It was so cute.

Granny was telling me about when her and my Papaw got married.
She really could not remember when exactly. She told me that it has been 14 or 15 years since he passed away. Then she told me about during the depression. She didn't remember a lot. She did remember that they only got certain food items and only certain amounts of it. She told me they were blessed because they had a garden but she said they still ate "poor" but they didn't know it then. She said to them it was good food. She said supper would be a big pan of sweet potatoes. It was whatever they had. She told me that in her family before she married that there were 11 children in the family. 3 of them were triplets. She said that back then you had your babies at home. She said they had 2 peep holes to look through when their Mom was having her babies. She didn't get to look much because one of her sisters was the boss. She said the day the triplets were born they couldn't believe how many there were. She said they would take turns looking in the peep hole and see all those babies. When she married she had 6 children. I love talking to her and listening to her stories.

Mommy, Daddy & Baby

Our "sweet grandson", Davis is 5 weeks old today. I thought I would share a few pictures with you. He has really grown. Everyone is doing great. There is nothing like having grandchildren. I have 4 and they are so precious.

This reminds me so much of when I had my first baby 34 years ago. I still have a love that I could not describe for this baby boy "sweet son", Nathan. I had and still have so many dreams for him. I will never forget that I wanted a baby boy first because I knew he would protect his little sisters from any harm. Now he is all grown up. It passes by so quick. You just blink an eye and they are grown. There is nothing like a mothers love for a child. It is never ending.

Make sure to check out my other blog
Cooking & More to see what else we have been doing. I am trying to add more about my everyday living on that blog.

My Mom Meets Baby Davis

My "Sweet mother" is the rock of our family. If anyone is in need, she is there. She puts all of us before herself. I cannot say enough about my Mom. Having said all that, Mom had not met baby Davis. She has been there for all 3 of her other great grandchildren but was out of town helping my sister as she went through the loss of her husband when the baby was born. I was so anxious to see her with him. He was born on Dec. 28 and she met him when he was a week old. I just thought I would share a couple of pictures of her with him. They were so precious! My Mom does not look like a great grandmother, does she???
Check out the slideshow on my sidebar to see more pictures of the night the baby was born!

Update on my sister: Pray for my sister and her 2 children. There will be a memorial service for her husband and their father this coming Saturday.

Friends, Family, Baby & even a Blogger!!

As you all can imagine, blogging & sewing is on the back burner right now with a new grandbaby in the family. We are all thrilled with our new grandson. Our little family is great. Everyone is just pitching in. When I am not there to help Mandy & Dusty, one of my other daughters are. They have a lot of precious friends that have helped too. Tonight, their friends, Behki & Todd brought supper over for them. They were at the hospital all night with all of us. She is now an official member of our family! Behki has told the story of Mandys labor & delivery on her blog. Behki, my "sweet daughter" Shannon, & my "sweet grandaughter", Triston & Nicole (Mandys other best friend that is just like a daughter to me) were so funny. They would stand at the door listening to Mandy in the labor room. (see pic.) It was a long night. We thought the baby would be here before 11 p.m. that night but he was turned the wrong way so she had to have a c-section. We are thankful that they both are doing good. Our other grandchildren are so excited and completely in love with him. They brought the baby home on Tuesday but I am just now getting around to showing more pictures. Notice the beautiful quilt that is covering the baby's car seat...... That is the one that Sandy made. I won it on her blog! Isn't it gorgeous? Everything is going great. We are still all very tired especially Mandy & Dusty. They are great parents and are enjoying the journey. They have been married for 7 years and have planned for this special little angel. Thank you to all of our family & friends for your help and prayers and even to Sandy, a blogging buddy who made a quilt for "Baby Davis."

Update on my Sister:As happy as I am for my little family and this new addition I can't help but think of my sister and her children who just lost their husband and dad. They live out of town so we will be going there next weekend for a Memorial Service in honor of him. My Mom has been with Brenda through all of this sadness. She has not seen our little baby yet but there is not another place I would rather my Mom had been than with Brenda & her little family. Please continue to pray for them all.
