Contentment In My Sewing Room

Since Granny passed away I have not done too much sewing but when I joined the FNSI (last post), I think I got my motivation back. I had these Buckwheat Neck roll pillows already cut out a long time ago so I decided to get busy and get them done.
*I have had several ask how I made these.  I got this pattern from marthastewart.com
Just search for Buckwheat Neck Roll Pillows*

I have fell in love with ironing!  Yes, ironing.  I used to dread it so much until I found Netflix.
Does that make sense?  I go in to my sewing room and turn on my computer and watch a good movie while ironing.
I LOVE ironing now!

I have watched several movies.  I have watched Sense and Sensablility, The Secret Garden, A Secret Affair, The Duchess, Wuthering Heights.  This is the most movies I have ever watched in forever.

I also watch movies while I am sewing!

I love spending time in my sewing room.

I had a dozen diapers that I had bought to make burp cloths
with for gifts so I just got busy and got them done!

Are they not the cutest if I say so myself??
There are 4 sets of 3 already packaged up
to give to the next baby in line!!
I had so much fun making all of these.
*I also have had several bloggers asking about this pattern.
Click here for tutorial on these burp cloths. There is also a bib tutorial with this. *

SNIPPETS FROM MY HEART

Lord, grant us true contentment…
Acceptance of what each day brings,
Joy in you and not in things,
Tranquility in storm or strife,
Serenity in all of life;
That when you whisper, ‘Peace, be still,’
We’ll wait upon your perfect will,
Knowing we will soon be blessed
By love that only wants our best.
Help us see that we are meant
To rest in you… and be content.

And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
I Timothy 6:8
[Let your] conversation [be] without covetousness; [and be] content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be content.  Philippians 4:11

My Hurting Child

Along, with happiness LIFE brings sorrows. It hurts a mother for one of her children to go through pain. You just want to make it all go away and fix it for them, but then you realize that this is part of LIFE. When we are in the valley is when we learn. When we are at the bottom, is when we look up. When we cannot STAND, is when we have to LEAN. When God closes one door, HE always opens another! When we are down, is when we really see if we have that personal relationship with JESUS. It is easy to serve HIM when things are going good. The real test is when you are in the valley. It is something that only YOU and HIM know. Instead of giving up and giving in, you see your hurting child look to JESUS in the midst of the storm. Then you know, that they know, that they know. They could stay in the valley, but then you find out that your hurting child is in the WORD where all of our help comes from. They are reading and listening to tapes to fill themselves up with HIM. Then your hurting child shares with you some of the things that they are learning as they walk this lonely road. Here is some of this WISDOM that was shared with me:

Out of REJECTION comes DIRECTION! When you face rejection and disappointment, don't stay there. Know that GOD has another plan--that closed door simply means that GOD has something better in store for you.

There is nothing that you can do about past disappointments. You cannot change the PAST, but YOU can do something about the FUTURE. What is in front of you is far more important than what is behind you. Where you are going is more significant than where you came from or where you have been. Understand that our GOD did not create any person without putting something extremely valuable on the inside. LIFE may have tried to push you down through disappointments or set backs and you can't see how you are ever going to be happy again---YOU have to DIG your heels in and say, I know what I have on the inside-- I am a child of the most high God. I am full of HIS "can do" power and I'm going to rise up and be everything that GOD has created me to be.
Don't talk about the way you are -- Talk about the way you are going to be!!

I don't know what tapes or books that my hurting child is reading or listening to, but as a mother, it sure is a good feeling to know that they know where their help comes from. What a blessing this gave me.
Are they hurting? YES.
Can I fix it for them? NO.
Do they have bad days? YES.
Will they be alright? YES, because JOY comes in the morning.

Please whisper a prayer for my hurting child while going through this trial. This too shall pass. Where would we be without our Lord?

When you have done all to stand, STAND THEREFORE.

Thank you, Lord.

LETTERS FROM RUTH'S ATTIC

Ruth Bell Graham
1920-2007
Did you happen to see the television special in December honoring this precious lady? If you didn't, you missed a blessing. To me, she was the portrait of a true lady. She loved the Lord, her husband, and her children. When I watched this program, I cried. It truly blessed my heart. She is a real example of a Christian to me. She thought of everyone else instead of herself. She was married to Rev. Billy Graham for 64 years. She had 5 children and 19 grandchildren. What a tribute this show was. If you get the opportunity to see it, you will be blessed. I purchased the DVD so I would always have it. Since I watched that program, I think of her often. This woman is an example to us all. The book shown in the picture is a devotional book that was offered free on this program. You can see a small tribute to her life at http://www.billygraham.org/RBG_default.asp
Make sure and click on the link to find out more about the T.V. special and watch an actual clip from the show. Just click and watch the video. It will touch you.
Here is my devotion today from this little book:
LETTERS FROM RUTH'S ATTIC
Ruth Bell Graham
Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us...
TRAVELING LIGHT
The Christian life is like climbing a mountain. For some people the climb is a gently sloping ascent; for other people the climb is like attacking the north face of the Eiger.
Christina Rossetti wrote:
"Does the road wind uphill all the way?
Yes, to the very end.
Will the day's journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend."
Whether our climb is easy or difficult, we need to be in shape spiritually, and to travel light.
To be in shape spiritually, we need spiritual nourishment and exercise. We need to spend less time reading about the Bible and spend more time studying the Bible. Then we need to apply what we learn--carefully and vigorously--to our lives, to live out daily what we have taken in.
To travel light, we need to lighten our loads. Some of us may need to trim off excess weight. Others of us have too many social involvements and too many meetings to attend. (Remember the caution: "Beware of the barrenness of a busy life.")
When the disciples were sent out two by two, they traveled light--"without purse, scrip(bag) and shoes" (Luke 22:35 KJV)
Times change, situations vary, and God's order to His followers are individualized. But the need and the message continue the same --and the goal. It's up to us to be in shape and to travel light.
PRAYER FOR THE DAY:
Father, please reveal the things that prevent me from fully obeying Your call. Thank You for guiding me as I drop these weights from my life.

In The Good Times And The Bad Times.........

Have you ever noticed that when things are going good, we are not on our knees in prayer as much as when things are going bad? I know that is the way it is with me. One of my favorite sayings is that we are either going into a trial, in the midst of a trial, or coming out of a trial. That is really a true statement. Right now we are in the midst of a trial. We ask you to help us pray, even though you don't know the details. Details really don't matter with prayer because HE knows it all. I know THIS TOO SHALL PASS, but we are just wondering when and how. We are praying for direction.

Our Sunday school teacher was telling us how important it is to read your Bible. Someone asked him, how do we know what we should read. He said, you just open the Bible and HE will give you what you need.
One of my goals this year is to start my day in the Word and to pray more and so far I have been doing this. This morning I opened my Bible to Job. That kind of scared me. As you know, everything was taken from Job. God allowed that to happen. Then as I was reading, one verse stood out to me. It is Job 2:10. This is where Job had lost everything and was covered with sore boils from top of his head to the soles of his feet and his wife looked at him and said he should curse God and die.

Job 2:10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

I really got the message here. To me, Job was saying that we take the good but we can't take the bad and God is in control of everything. Remember he has lost everything and now he is covered with sore boils all over his body. That really spoke to me. So, along with my prayer for help, I also took the time to thank and praise HIM for this situation we find ourselves in.

So I encourage you in the good times and also in the bad times to get on your knees and read HIS Word more. I know our situation is not as bad as others, but I ask myself:
Where would I be without my Lord?
