Seven Days of Gratitude

I know I am late on this gratitude thing.
I know traditionally it suppose around Thanksgiving but
honestly shouldn't it be everyday, all year long?

I am more thankful than I have ever been since I was sick.
I am thankful for everyday I wake up.

I read blogs like most read books.
I have often heard my Mom say that she doesn't have to travel anymore.
She can go anywhere in the world inside a book without ever leaving her home.
I have always wanted to be a reader like her but the only books I could
read is something to do with my life. I guess you could say to do books.
But blogs, take me away.
Thats where I discovered this YouTube.
And if you have seen my Facebook, you have probably seen where
I posted this video.
But I don't want to ever forget it.
It is 11 minutes and 46 seconds.
I have listened to it several times.
I need to listen to it every day.
It really spoke to me. He says it all
I hope you enjoy as much as I did!
Video is below!
Lord, don't ever let me forget to be grateful.

A Perfect Day

We have some relatives that we haven't saw in 6 years but they came to visit us and brought a new baby! I was so excited. Evelyn was in the family when I married my "sweet honey." She had been married about a year when we got married. (This was 30 years ago.) She made me feel so welcome and we became more than close friends. We were like sisters. We raised our children together. We gardened together. We went through hard times and a lot of good times together. Life has caused us to lose touch except for an occasional card in the mail. The minute we saw each other it was just as though the last time was yesterday. Evelyns "sweet daughter", Jennifer was with her and brought her little 3 week old baby for us to meet. The baby was born 3 weeks early and had a rough start. Jennifer also had a lot of trouble. We are so thankful to have them with us. What a blessing. I cannot tell you what it meant for them to visit me. My "sweet daughter", Shannon joined us and brought potato soup and salads from Panera Bread. We had a nice lunch and did a lot of talking about old times and new times. We are going to try to start getting together at least every other month so we won't lose touch again. My "sweet daughter" Maranda came in just in time to see them before they had to leave. My "sweet honey" got to visit with them also along with 2 of my grandchildren. The only ones who were missing were Evelyns other daughter, Angie and my other daughter Mandy and my grandaughter Alyssa! Maybe we can have them all together next time. Thank you Evelyn for giving us a great Christmas Present......You, Jenn & of course that precious baby!!!!!

Thankful

Granny had a little bowl of turnips & a small bit of chicken & dumplings,a banana, and leftover cornbread & as she said a spirit filled prayer thanking the Lord for this little bit of food, I thought to myself how grateful we all ought to be. We all take so many things for granted. Granny has taught me a lot, but she has taught me most of all to be thankful for the little things.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thess 5:18

Thank You For Giving Me This Day, MOM

I took my "Sweet Honey" to the airport around 5 a.m. Sunday morning to go on a hunting trip in Kansas City. After seeing him off, I headed to my MOM'S house. We had planned this day a while back. We planned to sew together all day. Well, I left the airport, (my moms house is about 15 minutes from the airport), I evidently took a wrong turn. I was suppose to head South and I went North. Now keep in mind that this is 5:30 in the morning. I actually got lost. I was getting kind of scared after about an hour of driving in the dark. Somehow I ended up in a bad part of town and saw homeless people laying on the curbs of the road. I did away with my cell phone a while back and have actually enjoyed not having one until that morning. I was wishing I had one. The sad thing is my Moms house is not that far from the airport. I should have known where I was. But I didn't. I finally got to a safer part of town and saw a taxi driver. I rolled my window down just enough to ask him how to get to the interstate. I was 2 redlights away!! Thank goodness, I made it to my moms house. When I drove up in her driveway, I took that picture of her house and thanked the Lord that I made it. Now on to our day.......... We started our day by going to Panera Bread and picking up some goodies for breakfast. It was delicious. Then we got our sewing machines out and started working on our Star Quilts from Amanda Jeans Quilt Along! We had so much fun. We did 2 blocks. Before we started though, Mom had bought the foam board to make me a design wall just like hers. We glued flannel fabric on it and then I put all of my blocks on it so I could see them. I love it. We sewed most the day. Mom made some of her Potato Soup and cornbread. Oh my goodness, it was wonderful. Mom had bought us both a walking foot for our sewing machines so we wanted to see how it worked. She had bought some fabric a couple of weeks ago at an estate sale and it had some projects in there that had quilt batting between them so we practiced on that. It was so much fun. It worked great. Then it was time to go. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed my day with my Mom. (Oh by the way, I did have P.J.'s on- I was determined that I was going to be comfy that day). That night after I got home, mom emailed and said "thank you for giving me this day". I don't think I have ever enjoyed a day, like I enjoyed this day. "Thank you Mom, for giving ME this day."

Bring On The Rain

glitter-graphics.com

A few years ago, I was very sick. I was in several hospitals and they could not figure out what was wrong with me. The doctors had me so drugged that I didn't know what I was doing or saying. I was not myself. I don't remember much, except what my family and friends told me. The drugs made me a mean person. They finally came up with a diagnosis but they were wrong. I was so weak and nearly died several times. Anyway, long story short.......I know without a doubt that the Lord healed me. But there came a time in the last hospital that I was in, when I just decided that I was sick and tired of all of the drugs. I told my "Sweet Hunter" that I was going home. I was so weak that I could hardly hold my head up. I asked him to walk me up and down the hall until I got some strength. He just about had to carry me at first. But gradually, I got stronger and I went home. My daughter, Mandy brought me this song...."BRING ON THE RAIN". She said that is how she saw me. She told me that she thought I was so strong. I came home and have never been sick again like that. Thank the Lord. I am sure that Mandy is now singing this song. Her husband is the one that just lost his job for no apparent reason except cut backs. They are depending on the Lord for their situation.

Through this other trial that I am going through with my son, I have not felt strong. But since I asked you all for prayer in the last post, I actually feel stronger. Our circumstances haven't changed but I feel your prayers. I feel as though you are walking me up and down the hall until I get stronger so I can bear this burden. I was praying yesterday and realized that there is a reason for all of this. I don't know why and may not ever know, but I do know that the Lord is in control. He has always took care of me and my family. So, I say...."Bring on The Rain."

Thank you for all of the sweet emails I have received. It means a lot to me to know that there are friends that I have never met, that are praying on my behalf. Blogging has been such a blessing to me. I read about so many others that are going through so many things. I guess we have to go through the bad times to know the good times. Thank you Lord for always being in control.

Our Catfish Pond!

I have been in kind of a blah mood this week. Do you ever feel that way? Sometimes I just feel like so many people depend on me. I want to make sure that everyone is ok. That is my nature. But I have found out, that I just can't fix everyone. I have a grown son that needs a lot of prayer. He has not worked in 2 years because of an injury. He has had 2 surgeries and he is still in terrible pain. He has no income and no insurance and is totally dependant on us, his family. I wish I could just make his pain go away. I wish everyone could be happy and healthy. One of my children asked me why I was sewing, quilting & blogging, while dealing with this problem. I told her it brings me JOY, PEACE, & CONTENTMENT. It takes my mind off things I cannot change. I am 53 years old and feel so blessed. Do I have problems? Yes. Can I fix them all? No. I think that is life. All I can do is the best I can do. So, today, I decided to take a walk. You can see what all I was able to enjoy. As I looked around at all HIS beauty, I just thought to myself....... Thank you is not enough. God is so good to me.

Ephesians 6: 13, 14 says:
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore....

Philippians 4:13 says that I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

So will you help me pray for my son?

Every Day Is A Gift From The Lord

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Today I am thankful that I was able to:
Work on my My eBay Business
Do my Laundry
Work on my Plants
Go grocery shopping
Fix my husband breakfast & supper
Work on my budget for March
Balance Checkbooks
And many more things.

It seems we complain about the little things that we have to do on a day to day basis, but after being sick for a week, I was really thankful for everything I got to do in my home today. Every day is a gift from the Lord. Thank you is not enough.
