It has been 2 years ago today since Granny left us.
Thinking of you Granny...until we meet again!
I love you!
This blog is and always will be dedicated to my Sweet Hunter, our children & Grands now and one day our Great Grands after I am gone. Thank you all for your visit! Come sit for a spell! Welcome to the farm!
I never tried to sell one of Granny's quilts. One day Martha emailed and asked if Granny would consider selling one of her quilts. That started the snowball. Then Granny sold another and another and so on and so on thanks to blogger's. Granny had this stack of quilts sitting here for years until this happened. Family members would come at Christmas and buy a few but other than that she didn't sell many. The only place she went was to church so she didn't see many people. Once we sold a lot of quilts it gave her a zeal to quilt more. Even though Granny was a healthy woman, this gave her something to get up in the mornings for. I truly believe that she would not have been here as long as she was if it wasn't for you blogger's. She started her day with breakfast and then prayer and Bible reading and then she was at the sewing machine until lunch. Then back at the sewing machine until supper time. Then Granny went to bed around 7 every night. The only days that she didn't quilt was Friday when it was "wash day" and then Sunday because it was the "Lords day." At the end of her life she did start quilting on "wash day." She couldn't help herself. The one fear that Granny had was that she would leave this world with a quilt half finished. I am proud to say that she finished her last quilt before she left us. She doesn't have to worry about that anymore. *************************************** Fast Forward till today:
I would not have ever dreamed that my daddy would love quilting like Granny did but he does.
When Granny passed away the family felt like she would want Daddy to have her sewing machine. He takes great pride in sewing on her machine.
These were the stacks of quilts that I saw today on Daddy's couch. It reminded me of when I first saw Granny's stack of quilts.
"Sweet Hunter" says that he likes me being an afternoon hunter. He likes to come in to a nice breakfast on the fire.
Salt pork, scrambled eggs, gravy & homemade biscuits & cooked apples. Breakfast is ready!
It gets pretty warm during the day but is getting chilly early in the mornings here.
Next weekend is suppose to be colder at nights than it has been so "Sweet Hunter" thought he better get some wood ready for our little wood heater in the cabin.
Our first fire inside the cabin. See the little concrete blocks? My Sweet Mother gave us these. I just love them. We are gonna get some pea gravel and fill in underneath the heater. But isn't the fire great? Oh I love it! I have missed the smell of a wood fire inside.
Look at these sweet hands! Granny left us April 13th, 2010 but her birthday was yesterday. What a blessing she was and still is to our whole family. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANNY!
I remember last year at this time she was making Apple butter. Her kitchen smelled so good.
I have had the hardest time trying to figure out what to put on this post to honor Granny. I miss her so much.
Then as I was going through pictures I remembered how Granny reached the world with her quilts and her love of the Lord.
The Lord and Granny's quilts along with her family were her passion. Granny lived a simple life that didn't require much. What an example for us all.
Remember Granny's one pin???
