Twas' The Night Before Christmas

We have enjoyed our Christmas Eve tonight. Our Church had a candlelight service and then we came home and enjoyed a quiet supper together. We have a tradition that we open 1 gift the night before Christmas and another the next morning. My "sweet honey" got me a very nice outfit- some grey dress pants and a sweater to match it. It is just beautiful. He also got the perfect size. I gave him something every hunter needs-- Thermacell Mosquito Repellent. It is a portable appliance that is odor free to repel bugs while you hunt. I also got him some refills and a holster to hold it. I believe he liked it pretty well. He will use it more when he is turkey hunting next year when it is warmer but I knew it was something he wanted. He killed another deer the other day. My freezer will be full with all the deer meat and the vegetables from our garden. It has been a very peaceful Christmas Eve. Most of our children are with friends or family enjoying their Christmas together and then tomorrow morning we will all meet at the Waffle House for a Christmas breakfast. That is another tradition we have. Then we head over to see what Santa brought the grandchildren. Then tomorrow afternoon we always go to the movies. Well that is the plan unless our new grandbaby decides to be born! That sure would be a great Christmas present. I went to the doctor with Mandy on Monday and they still say it could be anyday. She has made a lot of progress over the past week. We are anxiously awaiting his arrival! We are all so thankful this Christmas. We have so many blessings and answered prayers. We could not begin to thank the Lord enough. I hope you all have a very Blessed & Merry Christmas!

Busy Time Of Year

My "sweet daughter" Maranda is doing well from her foot surgery. We went to the doctor today and he is amazed at how well she is doing. She still has a lot of recooperating to do though. I will be taking my other "sweet daughter", Mandy to the doctor in the morning to check and see how much progress she has made and when my new grandson will be making his appearance. Last week he said that it could happen anytime but she is still going. I also have been working on Christmas presents for my grandchildren. I bought each grandchild a quilt from my "granny" and gave it to them along with some extra little goodies that I had made them. I made Alyssa 2 headbands that Krista told me about and then I crocheted her a little hair scrunchie. I made Triston some pajama pants. They just loved them. I made Brett 2 little pillows but he doesn't have them yet.I did get a picture of him opening his quilt. You can see it on the side. I think Alyssa is holding it up. Brett is dressed up like a wrestler! I even made my new little grandson, that hasn't been born yet some burp cloths and a bib. I have also been working on my second quilt in my "down" time.(Ha!) It has been a very busy time around here. I hope you all have a very blessed Christmas!

Family Christmas Party

We had our family Christmas party with my Mom & Dad & sisters & their families & all my children & grandchildren. We had so much fun. My "sweet daughter", Shannon hosted it at her house. We had so much fun. She had bought a Karaoke machine so there was lots of singing and cutting up along with a lot of great food. This was a special Christmas. We had so much fun!! If you see the picture where it looks like my Mom is bending over to shake my hand......well, this is one of those things that you would have had to have been there to see how funny this was. I was sitting down in a hole on the couch and she didn't want to make me fall on Mandy, who is expecting anyday. Anyway, so as she came over it looked as though she was going to shake my hand and we got so tickled. We laughed so hard. Later on in the evening, I went over to Mom and acted like I was gonna shake her hand. Like I said....You would have had to be there!!!! My "sweet sister" Brenda got to come and we were so excited. She missed Thanksgiving because of her husbands health. He still needs lots of prayers. Everyone was there except Brenda's daughter, Jami. She had finals at college to study for. We sure missed her. It was a great Christmas. There are many answered prayers and miracles in these pictures that only my little family knows. What a blessing to see the Lord work.

More Answered Prayers......My "Sweet Daughter", Maranda had surgery this morning on her other foot and she is doing great. The last time was rough but this time is wonderful. So far, so good. If you remember, she was my "hurting child".....but little did she know blessings were coming her way. She is so happy now. Sometimes we think it is the end of the world, and then we find out the Lord is in control. He knows much more than we do. Maranda will be off from work through the holidays to recooperate. Tomorrow, I will be going with my other "sweet daugher", Mandy to see when this little grandson of mine is coming. I will keep you posted. Thank you to everyone that has emailed or called and most of all for the prayers.

UPDATE ON MANDY: The Doctor said she could go anytime. He said everything looks great. Her blood pressure was still the same so he did not put her in to induce her. Baby Davis is due on Dec. 28!!! Counting the days.....

Christmas + Surgery + Baby = BUSY!

I have been working on some Christmas gifts for my grandchildren along with my quilt. I hope to finish it this weekend if nothing happens. I went with my "sweet daughter," Mandy to the doctor. The doctor told us she has made significant progress and could go anytime. The baby is not due until the 28th of this month. We are so excited. They even suggested inducing her next week if her blood pressure goes up anymore. We go back next Wednesday to find out more. In the mean time my other "sweet daughter," Maranda will be having foot surgery on Tuesday morning. They will be at 2 different hospitals in 2 different cities. What would I do if both events happen around the same time? Oh my goodness!!! Hopefully everything will happen as it should. Please keep them both in your prayers. Needless to say, with Christmas, surgery and baby I am pretty busy.
The pictures are of Mandy, her beautiful nursery & home & some of her gifts for the baby. When I picked her up for the doctor, I saw the most beautiful baby quilt on the table. I fell in love with it and thought I would share the pictures of it with you. One of Mandy's friends, Behki has a mother that is so talented. She made Mandy this quilt. After seeing this quilt, it made mine look sick, but I am just a beginner and I hope to learn everyday. I told Mandy that I would love to go spend the day with this woman and let her teach me. The quilt is just so beautiful. Don't you just love it??

Family, Friends, & Fun

I had a great weekend! It started with Saturday morning going to Panera Bread for breakfast and then to our favorite quilt store with My "Sweet Mom" and my "sweet sister," Karen. We had so much fun. My mom bought me a few things for an early birthday gift. I am working on a Christmas quilt of cottages for next year so she bought me some Christmas fat quarters! I am excited but have got to finish a few more projects before working anymore on that one. I was so proud that my sister came with us. We had so much fun. We also went to Hancocks. You can see more pictures over at my Mom's Blog! I came home and worked on my quilt that I am doing with Amanda Jean's Quilt along! I have it all put together and basted with pins. I rolled it and it is ready to machine quilt. I am actually doing 2 quilt alongs with her but I am trying to get one finished before I move on the star quilt. Then Sunday came,we went to church, and my very good friend Krista and her family were in town. We ate lunch with them at Carabba's and had the best time. We have been friends for a long time and have become even closer through blogging. Krista and her husband are very special people. They were the youth directors for our church here in Dalton for many years. Now they live in Claxton Tenn. and work with the youth group there. They have 2 teenage children. I still look at them and see little children, but they are young adults. There are just some people who are gifted in certain areas and Krista & Charlie are two of these people They have dedicated their lives to bring young people to know the Lord. I knew that Krista and Charlie were younger than us, but I just realized yesterday that I could be their mother!!! I am really enjoying our friendship and always have. We learn from each other & have a lot of fun together. It was a fun weekend with family and friends.

My Inspiration

My Granny is such a delight to go and visit. She always inspires me. She tickles me to death. She always asks me if I have finished another quilt and when I say no, she just rolls her eyes and laughs at me. Today I took the burp cloths and a bib that I made over to show her. She just loved them. My daddy was there fixing a door knob that had broke for her. Needless to say that made me look at her other door knob on the front door. It is funny how we don't notice the little things. It is a glass door knob. Anyway, while I was there she wanted me to go and get the 2 quilts that she had done this week. I am telling you this little 95 year old woman puts me to shame. She also showed me 2 pantsuits that my aunt had bought her. She was proud. I had bought her a vegetable plate and took it for her supper with a piece of peanut butter pie. She loved that. I always snap a lot of pictures while I am there. I love to take pictures of her little feet. She never realizes that I am taking it of her precious feet. I think of where these feet have been in 95 years. Just think ......95 years! She amazes me. Today, we talked "quilt talk." That is her joy and I really understand. I guess you have to be a quilter to understand. She told me that when she wakes up in the morning after her prayers that is what she thinks about. She really inspired me today. I came right home and got busy on my second quilt top (the one I did a quilt along with Amanda Jean ) and I finished it. Granny will be so proud. I hope to quilt and bind it this weekend and take it and show it to her next week. I know that I blog about my Granny a lot but her and my MOM are my inspiration. I love them both so much.

Christmas Decorating

The day I picked to do my Christmas decorating we woke up to our first snow flurries! I loved it. Even though my decorating is really simple it took most of the morning. As I was working on it, it was so nice to look out and see our little snow and have the Christmas music playing. We are so blessed this Christmas and just think......we may have a new grandson right around Christmas! Now that is a Christmas gift!
