A Special Welcome & May Pole Dance

Helen, Ga.

We go to Helen Ga. the first week in May every year with our best friends, Vicki & Eddie. This is a vacation that I look forward to every year. We each have a 2 bedroom condo and we do whatever we want, which is usually not much of anything except a lot of rest & relaxation. This is the most peaceful time of year for me. We are so blessed to be here with our friends this year. As a lot of you know, Vicki has been very sick and we nearly lost her so we feel so blessed to be here. This is probably our 8th year in a row coming. We arrived before V & E and as we were unloading we saw some people that we met when we first started coming here. They are the sweetest people. They are our neighbors here at the condo. As we were unloading our things from the car they asked us if we had plans for supper. They invited us down to eat with them and some of their friends. She had a feast cooked. We enjoyed our visit with them and heard a lot of old stories. We always catch each other up on the past year because this is the only time that we see them. As we joined them for supper, we all stood in a circle and they prayed a precious prayer before we ate. We feel so blessed to know these people.

This picture does not show everything. It was delicious!

Grilled Chicken, Green beans, Baked potatoes,
Pineapple Cheese Salad (I am getting the recipe for this-Yum)
She had a small salad bar fixed.
Strawberry Pretzel Salad
Brownies & Ice Cream
These are some of our friends that were so gracious
to share their supper with us.
The lady on the left is the one that cooked all of this.

Here we are with our own little table in their condo.
They treated us like one of the family.

When Vicki & Eddie arrived at the condo, we helped them unload
and told them what a supper they had missed. Vicki & Eddie are our best friends and we live in the same town but hardly get to see each other just because life keeps everyone so busy. We do talk through email or phone and we always keep in contact but that is what makes this vacation so special. It is "our time." Vicki always makes a sour cream pound cake and gives us half of it. There is noone that can make a pound cake like she can. As I said before we are so thankful this vacation because we have Vicki with us. She has really been sick and is still recooperating. I don't know what I would have done if I had lost her. We are soul mates. We are sisters.
Thank you Lord.
We visited a while & laughed a lot and then said goodnight.

Today we walked into town with Vicki & Eddie.

There were a lot of things going on.
I actually talked Randy into doing this May pole dance with me.
Believe me, he didn't want to but he did! We tried to talk Eddie & Vicki
into it but they just took our pictures.

Right after we did this it started raining so we went back to our condos. I think they all rested but I had so much fun. I put a movie in the DVD and got my sewing machine out. That will be a post for tomorrow. Later on they came to our condo and we made grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Then we went for a walk in the dark next to the river. It was beautiful. I just love this vacation!

It sounds so relaxing and beautiful. How nice of your neighbors to invite you over for dinner, too bad Vicki missed it. I hope she fully recovers soon.

It sounds like a wonderful time in Helen with some treasured friends, both old and new. Helen is one of my favorite places on earth, and it's just as peaceful and enjoyable in the rain as the sunshine! May God continue to bless Vicki and I hope you all have a wonderful visit.
