A couple of nights away with my sweet honey helps anything!
This little cafe is one that we always stop at on the way home.
The only thing on this menu that I have ever eaten is the grilled veggie sandwich and soup.
Oh my goodness! I just wish you could taste this!
The picture sure does not do it justice.
It is delicious!
We drove into our driveway as we came home and saw this!
It is the most beautiful color and even though I see it every year at this time it always refreshes me. It is like taking a deep deep breath!
I forgot to tell you that we stopped by one of my favorite thrift stores on our way home from our little getaway. I paid about $1.00 for all of that ribbon and that afghan kit has not even been open. I paid 5.00 for it! I wonder if I can do it!!!

SNIPPETS FROM MY HEART
Do you ever have a blah day? After we came home from our little getaway, I have just been in a blah mood! Wonder if blah is really a word? Anyway, this afternoon it hit me! I have been trying to read my Bible and pray everyday. I had not done that today! So I sat down and read a chapter in Psalms and then knelt down and prayed. Granny has told me over and over that if something interrupted her and the Lord's time together that her day just didn't go well. She had a routine everyday. She would get up, cook her breakfast, clean the kitchen, go to the living room and read her Bible and pray early in the morning. She said that this always made her day go better. One time she told me to kneel when you pray because one day you will not be able to. Daddy always told me that he didn't go to her house until about 8:30 am because that gave her plenty of time to read and pray. I am reading in Psalms. I have been trying to read a chapter or so a day. I am also starting that online Bible study this week so I am very excited about it.
Read & Pray..............A lesson from Granny.
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein, for the time is at hand.
Revelation 1:3

Oh, my daughter, you are such a blessing to me! I, too, need to be reminded that the most important time of our day is time spent with the Lord! Thank you for this post, and for the advice from Granny. She lives on thru you.
Love
MOM
For some reason, Blogger is not allowing me to post a comment on the honeymooners. It loooks like they are a perfect match and it is wonderful that you all have such a great time together.
It sounds like a little time away together was just what was needed, Val. I am so glad that you guys made the time for the two of you.
A day always goes better when you offer it up to God. Your granny taught you well!!!!
Mom,
I am glad that you got to get away and take a break for a couple of day. I am sure you haven't stopped since you got back home. Your food looked so yummy!
Your post about Granny made me think of that song "Consolation on Your Knees."
Love you,
Maranda
The soup and sandwich look delicious.
To read and pray is great advice.
Welcome back home kids!
Dear Valarie,
I tell my children to always remember to nurture their love, because that is one of the most important treasures we can have.
I Loved the menue where you stopped to eat! My eyeballs almost popped out of my head when I saw veggie sandwich and soup!!!!!!!!!!1 ONLY my favorite foods! I sure with they did that in my neck of the woods.
I have tried to get my DH moved to N.C. for years now. The other day he asked me what I thought was so nice about N. C.
There for a while a few years ago we used to come to the flea markets all over N.C. and the people were always SO nice anywhere we stopped. I told him there were so many interesting people and also so many skilled craftsmen every where and so many are Christians everywhere. Let's not forget that my Grandaddy lived in N.C. all his life.
So, what's not to like about N.C. :- )
I had to laugh at your afghan kit. I can not see it clearly, but it looked like a ripple pattern . I worked on a ripple many years ago and gradually over time it started going sideways more and more and more LOL Finally I gave up and put it in a tote and it is still buried in the closet. LOL
When I was little I watched the older people crocheting or knitting and I thought when I got older I would be able to do that.
But, I am so grateful that I did that in my 30's and 40's because I did not know that you will end up in too much pain to do your crafts and enjoy them later.
Not just me either- my sister-in-law was one of those talented crocheters who could tackle Any pattern and fly through them. She was the fastest crocheter I had ever seen - and yes - the pain took that from her too.
I think that was one reason I wanted to learn to sew - you don't use your shoulders as much that way.
I agree with your Mom - Granny definitely does live on - thru you. What greater honor for both of you.
Val, there are times when you have seemed so down but can I just tell you how you build me up!? . You make me see that the Lord, our God is there for me, too. May we face each new day with Him right beside us, Val.
I am so in awe of seeing the wonderful comments from your Mom and your daughter - Maranda. They seems to be sweethearts just like you, Val. It is wonderful to have FAMILY, isn't it? Oh, how I treasure mine!
May God be with you. Maybe He is showing his presence to you through that beautiful pink bush. Who knows?

I'm so glad you found some time to go away with your husband, Valerie!
It looks like you had a great time. I love seeing your thrift store finds. I tried going to Goodwill and a local thrift shop with no luck at all. I think I need you with me to point out the possibilities. You are so right about Bible study and prayer. I think Granny would be very proud of you!
And... we girls have to do a lot. I'm so glad to see you are doing what you gotta do and with the Lord's help. I visited and signed your granny's guestbook. So much love for her. I'm not so good with words, but know that I do wish you and your family the most comfort in your loss. Hugs~Carol

Hi Valarie,
Thank you so much for your kind words . I was surprised that you find yourself tired in the Spring too?
I got to see the pictures of your honeymooners today , as I could not pull them up yesterday. They are so beautiful. I hope their love will last forever.
hugs
Another wonderful lesson from Granny - just what I needed to hear. I'm going to take her advice.
Val, I'm glad you got away, and how nice to come home to those lovely flowers.
That was so sweet of your Hubby to take you for a few days break, and wonderful to see that flowering shrub when you arrived home, a special hello from Him.
It does give us a special feeling when we find a nice bargain like that, yes you will do it!
I suppose we all have a blah day sometimes and wonderful advice from Granny.
Love and Blessings.
