Thift Store Or Mom's House?

I found this quilt top at the thrift store. It is all hand done.

I only paid $5.50 for this! Would you do this for 5.50?
I wonder if the person who made it knows that it was put in a thrift store.
I wonder what she was thinking as she worked on this.

I found this picture at the thrift store too.
It has that verse on it that says:
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee."
How true is that? The frame looks like barn wood.

My sweet Mom has been cleaning out and organizing. (she is neat as a pin). If you have not visited her blog go see what she is up to. She called me the other day and said that she had some things for me. I went to pick them up and I was so excited.
Is this not the cutest picture?

And here is another..............

And another!

Look at these gorgeous pillow cases from Moms house.

And these..............

And these were my favorites!

Cookie cutters from Mom's house! Oh I had so much fun going through all this stuff.
There is more from Moms house that I will show later on. I like thrift stores but I LOVE my Moms stuff!
Mom's stuff is treasures.
Thank you Mom!

Those pillowcases are beautiful! The ones with the blue flowers would sure make sweet little pillowcase dresses!

Those small pictures would be cute in a laundry room. The pillowcases are beautiful. Did your Mom do the needlework on the? I'd vote for shopping at Mom's house any day. Is that a finished quilt from the thrist store or just a quilt top? I wouldn't do that for $55.00, let alone $5.50.

I love treasures. I have lots and lots of them. I love having the treasures around from friends and family after they have past on. It always brings them closer to me.

I am so glad you liked the things I gave you. I thought the pictures would be good in the laundry room, and the cookie cutters will be fun for the grandkids to make cookies with. That is a very unusual quilt top that you found. Looks like a lot of work went into it.

Yep, you found treasure! That quilt top is just amazing, I would be so mad to find out mine was in a thrift shop, but lucky you, lol! All your treasures are wonderful, especially the stuff from mom - aren't moms the best!

You have a treasure-filled day...that's for sure. You are lucky to have some things from your mom (and from Granny). In my family, the people who did the sorting of things after my grandparents and my mom passed away didn't save one single thing for me....which makes me sad, but I"m happy for you. Are you going to finish that quilt top so it can become a much-loved cozy for you? I think that would make the original quilter very happy to know someone valued her work enough to save the quilt from sitting in the thrift shop indefinitely!

I was looking for wall decor for my laundry room yesterday.
I am just like you about the items I see in second hand shops. I wonder about the home they came from and the people there.

How precious when we receive wonderful things from our Mom's. My mother has gone on to be with the Lord and I have only a few things of hers and they are very precious to me. Blessings!

In the late 1920's my grandmother handpieced a Job's Tears quilt top similar to this one. She set it together with white Cloth of Gold (a high quality broadcloth) and used solid colors for two points and flowery prints for the other two. Hers has also not been quilted--but will be someday!
