Update On Our Gardens

Remember this? This is how it all started. This a place that I have never had a garden.
My dad is doing the gardens with me. He has always had one at Grannys but since she is gone he is doing it with me. We got a very late start but it is starting to grow.

I think I plowed this 100 times 3 different days.

Then daddy came and tilled it after planting.
Here he is in one of the gardens putting extra fertilizer on the tomatoes.
I think he said we have 85 tomato plants! We have 3 gardens (2 big ones, and 1 raised bed garden). My Dad said he wanted to have enough for my Mom, my sisters and their families, me and all of my children and grands. I think he is gonna have plenty.

Well if these 19 geese will stop invading the gardens!
They really have not done much damage besides making a mess.
That is my lower garden. It has okra and beans and eggplant in it.

I always mulch my raised bed with straw so I don't have to weed too much.

In this raised bed we have squash, cucumbers, radishes, & tomatoes.

This picture doesn't show the plants too good but it shows parts of the 2 big gardens after a much needed rain. I will be back to show you more as it grows.

HOW MANY tomato plants????? Oh my. You will be feeding the whole town.

It looks like it has gotten a really good start. It won't be long before you are tasting the fruits of your labors.

Gardens are looking great. We have a garden too---between the wind, rain, and hail it has taken a beating this spring...had to replant the okra and part of the squash...lost tops of several of the tomatoes too. All this bad weather will just slow it down in the production of things...but oh it will taste so good!

I always get a kick when you say you planted late, our growing season has barely started. They don't recommend planting until danger of frost which is about mid May. Enjoy gardening with your dad.

Your garden is looking great! I just love working in the garden and my favorite part is just watching the plants grow from week to week. God is so good!

That's a beautiful garden! Cherish your time working in the garden with your daddy. I have great memories of helping mine. With all those tomato plants you made need to start looking for a great salsa recipe and find some canning jars! :)

It's always fun to see other people's gardens! Thanks for giving a tour of yours. Without a greenhouse, we just can't grow enough tomatoes up here (NE Minnesota) to can but I so wish I could. I always did all my tomato products when we lived in Illinois. Even made catsup!

I think you will have enough produce to have a stall in front of your place. Well Done folks!!

I don't think you will be running out of tomatoes any time soon! LOL! My granny was a gardener! She was always out in her gardens. She liked her vegetables, but loved her flowers! I think about her when I'm planting my flowers.

Can't wait to see your harvest.

Wow...Wow...WOW! You are going to have wonderful food this summer. I wish I was working with my Dad. You are so lucky to have him close to you and you can continue to enjoy each other. Your Mom, too.
Can't wait to see pics as the garden comes along. Thanks, Val.
