Friday Night Sew In Results

It has been a while since I have joined the Friday Night Sew In!
We were at our hunting cabin (aka "Sparta Hilton") and I was determined that I was gonna sew on Friday night. I was winding the bobbin on my little featherweight when I realized that I would probably never sew because I had so many other sewing related items to do with this project I am working on.

I became interested in making a baby day gown with Jeannie several weeks ago. While I was in St. Augustine Florida on vacation with my Mom I cut the pattern out but that is all I have managed to get done. I ordered some beautiful fabric from Jeannie but decided I would use some scrap fabric to make my first day gown because I don't want to make any mistakes. I am very behind in the lessons that she is giving but she told me that I could catch up. I am very very excited about this.

I wanted to show you the pad on this ironing board. I thought it was so cute. I found this in a yard sale and thought it would be perfect to bring the the "Sparta Hilton". I also found a great iron in an estate sale. So I am set up. At the "Sparta Hilton" there are no more excuses for not sewing.
Hunting and sewing just seem to go together, don't you think??
Here Jeannie showed us how to mark our buttonholes with a marker that washes out.

Don't look at this mess! The t.v. is sitting on my table because we are working on the wires on the back trying to get programming. There will be more about that later. lol

This is what I worked on Friday night. I marked all of my buttonholes and then I transferred the embroidery pattern on to my fabric. This is the neck of the gown.

This is the bottom of the gown. It looks so pretty if I say so myself. I haven't even stitched it yet and it looks good. This is my first attempt at something like this but you can't learn if you don't try, right?

So hear is the front of the gown showing where I will embroider the pattern and then the back facing showing where I have marked the buttonholes. I have a lot of work to do. I am very excited that I have this much done.

Do you notice the couch? Remember, I have Granny's couch here at the "Sparta Hilton".
Her furniture has truly been a blessing to us.
This last picture shows my project book that my Mother made me with all my goodies that I am working on. I take my project book with me so I will always know what step I am on.
I had so much fun Friday night. Thank you Heidi and Bobbi for hosting this wonderful Friday Night Sew In! Thank you also goes to Jeannie for putting up with me for being so behind. My problem is that when I am at home I have no down time. We are always busy with something. But when I come to the "Sparta Hilton" and hubby is out hunting.....I get to do whatever I want to!
See why I LOVE hunting!

Precious little dress.

Everyone needs some time that they can call their very own...your time at the "hotel" can be better than medicine in many ways.

That will be a beautiful gown. What color will you do the embroidery work in? I did the christening gown that our children (and now grandchildren) wore and did mine in a very pale green with white flowers. It really looked fabulous. I can't wait to see your completed project.
