This post looks like it is about flowers and I am linking up with Tootsie for Fertilizer Friday and I am proud of my flowers BUT this post is really about a little girl that I met today. |
I could tell by the way she talked that she was raised right and that she was probably a Christian. But I soon found out for sure. |
Debbie looked at Linda and said, "I really would like to spend time with you ,but I have no desire to see the Hunger Games, but thank you." Her cousin laughed, and said, "Why?" |
Debbie, very sweetly told Linda that she had read the reviews on this movie from Focus on the family's Plugged In Movie Reviews and after reading the reviews she decided that she didn't want killing, murdering, blood and gory things entering her mind. She shared with her cousin that what you let enter your mind is what comes out. She told her that she was not being judgemental but that is how she lives her life. |
Debbie went on to ask her if she would like to go see "October Baby" sometime? You can also read about that movie Here! Linda asked her what it was about and Debbie went on to tell her about the movie with a big smile on her face. Linda was not interested and said that it didn't sound like her kind of movie. She said she likes blood and murders. Debbie explained that she had only read the reviews but she likes movies about life and good things. |

Your flowers are like the little girl - each one -one of a kind & a perfect Beauty!
I hope she can hang onto her convictions -it will give her strength along the way .
Wow! It's awesome to see a young person with such high morals and strong convictions. It's very rare in this day & age. The biggest thing I heard from your message is that she did it on her own. She wasn't following a parent's direction. She had these feelings on her own & she stood by them. AWESOME!!
Now, will you look at my blog and tell me what those white flowers & purple trees are that I have pictured? You know I love plants & flowers but most of the time have not clue what I'm looking at...
Fabulous!!!! It is great to hear of a young person with good values!
Excellent story Val!!! Yes, the Spirit of Christ stands strong in this young girl! Let's pray for her!!! ♥♥♥
What a special young lady you met! Thanks for sharing that story with us.
How refreshing! What a gift her dad has given her by teaching her the WAY. I love her convictions and the fact that the pressure from the other girl did not sway her. Too bad her mom couldn't have been supportive of her too. I wish you could have told her dad what a good job she did!
I saw the previews last night for October Baby, and I WANT to go see it! Some wonderful people from GEORGIA were near here, and went to see them. We saw the group CASTING CROWNS. Did you know that all of the band members are youth workers in their own churches? They are also the group that their music is used in, in the movies Fireproof, and Courageous? Also Facing the Giants and Flywheel. Now THOSE are the movies those little girls should be seeing!
Your flowers are lovely.
Nice tulips. There is HOPE for the future generations. I teach the "Be Careful Little Eyes What You See" song to the children at Church.
Sending all kinds of blessing vibrations out to "Debbie" and to her father who is doing a wonderful job of guiding his daughter on life's pathway. If only the world were populated with more young people such as Debbie, we as a society would be on a much better path!
Thank you for sharing this with all of us.
Funny you wrote about this subject. On Thursday a first grader told another student that "the teacher looks like she smokes and does drugs." The teacher he was gossiping about was me. Pretty hysterical since I don't touch either one and he is a child with a behavior problem and who doesn't know any better. The other student promptly came over to let me know about his comment about "the teacher". I gave him a good talking to and asked where he had heard something like this, he said his mother and her friends talk this way all the time.
I thought, oh gees.
I completely agree that we have to choose what we say, watch on tv or movies and careful to what we listen to because it does leave impressions, especially in young minds.
Thanks Val for sharing your story. I think you happened to be at the right place and right time to bring us this true testament.
Have a great weekend.
Bless her heart - I am praying for her tonight. Her dad too. AND her mum....bless that little girl for holding strong, she can teach us all a lot, can't she? A&O is the homeschool curriculum we used for years.
A beautiful testimony from the young girl! Too bad her mother did not recognize the good in her child! We should pray for the young girl and her dad, and also her mom that she will see her daughter as the strong person she is, and that the mom will follow the footsteps of her young daughter!
