Busy Saturday

The first Saturday in every month my "Sweet Mom" & I meet at Panera Bread for breakfast and then head off to our favorite Quilt shop in Chattanooga for a Saturday Sampler. This morning my "Sweet honey" joined us for breakfast because he had some errands to do there. At the Quilt shop my Mom & I go to a 10 minute presentation and you receive the fabric and instructions to make 1 quilt block. At the end of the year, you have enough to make a quilt. If we were smart, we would be making one block a month so we could have it done but I think we both like to work under pressure! Ha! I picked up a few fat quarters for my star quilt that I am making. We also learned about making a square in a square by Jodi Barrows. It was a little over my head since I am just a beginner, but we enjoyed the presentation. Then we headed to Hancock's Fabric Store and they had their McCall's patterns on sale for .99 each. They had a limit of 5 so of course we each got the limit! Then we headed to the Singer Sewing Machine Center to look for an attachment that I am looking for. It was so nice in there. I saw lots of ideas for my "Sweet Honey" to get me for Christmas! (Just in case he is reading this....Hint, Hint!) We even found time to stop at a couple of yard sales. We didn't find anything there that we couldn't live without. Then we went to "My Sweet Mom's" house. She has a beautiful home and I just love being there. She had bought some sour dough bread at Panera Bread, so we had some of that for a snack. It was delicious. She showed me her new sewing machine and also taught me some things about sewing that I didn't know. Isn't it nice to have a mom that sews? Then we went outside & she gave me some rosemary, basil, and chives to plant at my house. She also gave me some kind of little vine that has star flowers on it. I need to ask her the name of it. I love going to Moms house. She always gives you something. She also gave me a great lamp to put close to my sewing machine. She also slipped a little daily devotional by Beth Moore in my stuff. I have it sitting next to my kitchen sink so I can read it every morning. She is the most giving person I know. Then "My Sweet honey" came and picked me up and we headed home. We came home & worked. I picked green beans, onions, squash, cucumbers & tomatoes out of my garden. Then I split some of my houseplants. I have been needing to do that for a while. Out of one of my plants, I got 7 different plants. My "Sweet Honey" washed his truck and did some yard work. Then he smoked us some salmon. I made a salad and some potatoes to go with it. It was delicious. Then I washed & broke my green beans. We will have them for lunch tomorrow with some more goodies from my garden. This has been a busy, but a very good Saturday.

Special Note to My Mom: The picture of the marigolds are from my flower garden and I picked them for you! Thank you for a wonderful day! I loved being with YOU!

I enjoyed my day with you, too! It is always fun to be with you. I wish we lived closer to each other so we could do that more often. Thanks for the flowers!

As always, great photos. Panera is a favorite lunch place for DH and me but we don't have one in our small town so we eat when we go on shopping errands. Your mom is a sweetie-pie.

How did you fit all this into one day? I want a smoker like Randy is cooking on. Do you have any idea where I can find one? I told Charlie that is what I wanted for Christmas but he is having trouble finding one. I love smoked chicken.
