Garden is still Going, Going, Going

I am still busy with the garden. This garden has amazed me. It is the first year I have ever planted here. It evidently is very good ground. I have gotten so much food put up for the winter. We have also enjoyed fresh veges all this summer. We still have tomatoes, okra, peas and green beans and a little squash. I have planted my cabbage, broccoli, & cauliflower for my fall garden. I also have spinach, leaf lettuce, kale and turnip greens and collards planted. It will not be as much work as the summer garden though. I am actually going to till it Monday and then mulch it with straw. Today, I froze green beans, peas, squash and okra and made Pickled Okra. You can go to my Cooking Blog to get the recipe. I have to say, I am ready for cooler weather so I can sew. As usual though, it was a busy, but very good day.

Wow, you have had a successful year with your garden. It was a weird summer here - too wet then too dry - so we didn't get as much as expected! Godd for you and all that canning! Makes me tired!

The Lord has really blessed you and you have been wise not to let it go to waste.

Thanks for your kinds words. We just couldn't figure out the link thing.

Your garden is going on forever. As wonderful as it is to have such a big harvest I would think that you would be getting tired. One year a friend had green beens that just wouldn't stop producing. She had canned, frozen and given away. Finally she took the lawn mower and just mowed the beans down.

I always start out with such grand plans for my garden, but usually end up sticking with the basics- tomatoes, lettuce, basil and other herbs... I haven't done any canning, but it's on my to do list for someday... Maybe I will try one of your recipes!

Thanks for stopping by! I am so jealous of all those whose squash actually produces, and who get more than 3 tomatoes on the vine. :-) And then I am so glad when those friends share all the good stuff with me!

Sounds like a great growing season! Isn't canning fun?
