Weekend

Very Simple Strip Baby Quilt Top
Isn't it so cute?
I think I will use red for the binding.

We had a great weekend. Today, I called my BFF, Vicki and talked with her on the phone (my black rotary phone). Most of the time we just send an email here and there but I wanted to hear her voice. After we got off the phone I whipped her up one of those buckwheat neck pillows that I have been making. I will have to try to see her this week to give it to her. Maybe we could have lunch, right Vicki? I already had it cut out so it was easy to put together. I hope she likes it.

I put together a quilt top tonight. It is just a baby quilt but I am excited about doing it. I found it over at sewmamasew.com and just used what I had here. I have all of the strips sewn together. It is not squared up but shouldn't take long to get it like I want it. I did this in just about an hour. This is a very easy quilt top, but of course it is smaller. I am not making it too small though. I was just thinking today that doing baby quilts might be the way I can get some experience so I can work on larger quilts. Here is just a sneak peek of the quilt top.I hope to have it finished in a couple of days. If I can get up the nerve, I may attempt to do some free motion quilting on it. I will let you know if it turns out. I had so much fun doing it.

My "Sweet Mom" called and asked me to come and meet her, my sisters, and my dad at a restaurant. I was so excited to see my family so off I went to meet them. The picture shows us all along with my 2 nephews. It was so good to see everyone. It was a wonderful weekend.

The baby quilt is wonderful! I wish I could be with you and Mandy today. Maybe we will get moved one day soon. Robbie and I enjoyed seeing you yesterday. He says you are "awesome!" I agree. Tell Granny hello for us!

Hi Valerie, that's such a cute quilt. A red border would work nicely.

How nice it is to get to visit with family. Nice photo.

Love the strip quilt! I saw one very similar at a quilt store and the child's name was embroidered across the bottom in large letters. You could do that in red to match the border! I am so jealous that you have an embroidery machine. I told Charlie that Randy bought it for you for Christmas and he just smiled...I was just like "can you take a hint?"

Another wonderful post! I will be making a baby quilt soon for an expected grandbaby that will arrive this summer. I like the strips you are doing and do one like that.

Thank you for your visit to my blog recently, and your sweet comments! That little quilt is so cute.. I'm still fairly new to sewing, and I doubt I could sew so many straight lines! Nice job.
