Granny & The Quilt

I went to visit Granny and she told me to go into the bedroom and get the quilt on top of the stack and look at it. She said she just finished it. She said, "I don't like it." I asked her why and she said everyone likes it but she doesn't. She wanted my opinion and I told her that I loved it. She said she doesn't want to see it again. She says she can't stand it. She said it was so ugly! It actually was very pretty. I have never saw her like that about a quilt.
She said she could not wait to get this one started. She said she loves the colors in it. She had just started this one right before I came. I love it too, but I didn't see anything wrong with the other one.

Granny was talking about the garden that my daddy is planting for her and she showed me her food in her freezer. Isn't it so neat? I can't even see in my freezer.

If you read my blog about Granny then
you know that today was her wash day!
I asked her one time if she washed on any other day and she said only on Fridays.

As I was leaving I noticed this sweet little red hat hanging on the porch. I guess this is what she used when working in the garden when she was able. I just thought it was precious.

Your granny is so sweet, I want to be your granny!

I remembered how you said she makes a quilt a week. That inspired me to try to make a king size quilt in about 6 weeks. And so far it is coming along on schedule. I made the same quilt before Christmas and it took months but I think if Granny can make a quilt a week, then I should be able to manage a quilt in 6 weeks.

hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Oh, and I like her "ugly" quilt too.

Awwwhh Granny must like the soothing blues and not the darker reds...well tell her any quilt she does not like she can send on up to me in Virginia...;-)
Oh my even her freezer puts mine to shame!!!
What a gal!! What a gal!!!
My Mama and MIL always washed on Mondays and would never ever do anything like that on a Sunday!

Thanks for sharing the pictures of your Granny. Your pictures and words just make her seem personal to us...not just about some stranger. Loved the shot of her hat.

Enjoy your blessings today.

I love the quilt. I can't imagine her not liking it either. Did she offer it to you?

And what a cute red hat!

As usual, Granny is still going strong! I love that quilt too, but I understand her love for the soft blue and white. Granny is so precious!

Granny very much reminds me of my daddy's mama. I enjoy reading about your visits with her.

If Granny doesn't like that quilt then she knows what she likes and what she doesn't. She's a sweetheart and an inspiration to us all.

Your granny must have a lot of spunk! Good for her to keep making quilts, even if she doesn't like them :-) It is so great that she is able to keep her hands and mind busy.

You tell Granny that that quilt along with all her other ones is a treasure. I'll bet she would be surprised how many people would LOVE to have that quilt!! She is a gem. Happy birthday to your daughter and to your grandson. I hope you have a nice weekend. Julie

Oh, Granny is so doggone sweet and cute and I feel like I know her too from reading about her. She is a precious little lady and she constantly amazes me.
Happy birthday to beautiful Maranda and sweet Brother too.

I'm glad to be home from retreat but it was wonderful. I drove back this morning early and unloaded my car and made coffee and turned on the computer...I'm so happy to be right here on this beautiful cool and sunny morning.

Am hoping to tell you all about quilt camp sometime.

Hugs
Connie
