The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today, Feb. 23, 2010 from my journal.
Outside my window.............it looks cloudy but the birds are singing so I know it is going to be a beautiful day!

I am thinking......................about my son.

I am thankful..........................that as I grow older, I realize what is really important in life.

I am wearing.....................blue P.J.'s but that will soon change.

I am remembering...................cloth diapers, clothes lines, one car, being invited out to eat a pizza and couldn't because of money, sacrificing "stuff" to stay home with my children. The simple times....best memories.

I am going...........................to work, to Granny's house, grocery store, eat lunch with my daughter Shannon, thrift stores, hair cut and then back home!

I am currently reading.................... The Prodigal by Beverly Lewis.
I am hoping......................for only "good things" today. I have my armor on! Ephesians 6:10-18

On my mind........................how I need to be on my knees more in prayer.

Noticing that........................enough is enough!
I am creating.........................a little surprise to go with my baby quilt.

Pondering these words....................."This is the day which the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 Today is a gift.
From the Kitchen................Butter Beans, Fried Potatoes, Spinach & Cornbread.

Around the house...................Dusting and decluttering.

One of my favorite things.............my daughter Maranda telling me that she loves my blog!

I am wishing ....................that I could just make it all happen for everyone while realizing that they have to do it for themselves!

I am praying for............YOU!

From my picture journal..........

I love reading these, Val, especially the words you are pondering. I find myself thinking those same words often.

I had to double check my watch to make sure it wasn't the 26th! That is my mother's 87th birthday and I thought (momentarily) that I had the date wrong.

That red velvet cake looks delish! Cloudy here today but the birds were singing loudly. Continuing to lift you and yours up in prayer. Hoping you will enjoy the day.

Have a great day, Valarie. Prayer works--sometimes just not according to our schedule.

LOVE red velvet cake but can you believe I only had it for the first time a month or so back?? I love these posts of yours. I can remember the "lean" years, too.....and, in some ways, I think we were better off then, not materially, but closer as all we had was each other and not THINGS, ya know?

Hi Valarie,

Red Velvet cake-uuuuummmm - My Aunt was the best cook in all the world and she made Red Velvet cake -to die for .Every weekend people use to all come to see her -knowing that she never let a person leave hungry. I was little -but now I wonder how she pulled it off? She had 6 children and all of their friends came to eat. After they married -then all of them ,plus their children came.

She was like your Mom and Granny - a pure , sweet spirit from Heaven. Now I know how hard it had to be for her, yet she pulled it off and never asked for help, even with all those dishes.

She ended up in a nursing home . I did not know it until my girlfriend went to work there and she told me my Aunt was there. She said that someone should check on her because since she was unable to speak due to a stroke and some of the caregivers were not doing their jobs , like changing clothes and feeding her-not.

She, who had cared for so many ?? It still breaks my heart. That is one reason I love to see your family and the love they share. Keep shining your light.
