The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY: June 7, 2010
Outside my window... It is dark because it is almost 11 p.m.

I am thinking... how nice it was to be with family tonight even though it was a sad time for my mother losing her brother. We tried to keep her laughing but I knew where her heart was. Please keep praying for her.

I am thankful for... My Mom & Dad being friends since they are not married anymore. There was a time that they weren't. It does make a difference.

From the kitchen... Nothing. We just had dinner at Red Lobster after the funeral home.

I am wearing... Blue P.J.'s.

I am creating... Nothing. We have a lot of work this week. This week it is a matter of getting up, going to work, coming home and going to bed. Boring huh?

I am going... to bed.

I am reading... My quilting magazine that was a gift from my sweet Mother.

I am hoping... That my Mom is not too sad about her brother but I know she is. She has 1 sister and 2 brothers left out of 10 children. I am so thankful to have my Mom with me.

I am hearing... a kitty meow over and over looking for her Mother.

Around the house... Not too much. I haven't been here much today. I can't wait to have 1 day at home. I sound like my Mother. She says this all the time. We both love home.

From my picture journal:

Do you know what kind of bird this is? We had never saw one like this. We usually only have black sunflower seeds in our birdfeeders but I changed to another feed and it brought some different birds in. I prefer using the black sunflower seeds. It brings more of a variety of birds in. Here is the info on this bird:

The Brown-headed Cowbird is a stocky blackbird with a fascinating approach to raising its young. Females forgo building nests and instead put all their energy into producing eggs, sometimes more than three dozen a summer. These they lay in the nests of other birds, abandoning their young to foster parents, usually at the expense of at least some of the host’s own chicks. Once confined to the open grasslands of middle North America, cowbirds have surged in numbers and range as humans built towns and cleared woods.

sorry about the above comment...i meant to say, we have cowbirds here but they look different...more of a golden brown color but when they turn in the sunlight just right, they are a strange greenish color.

I know what you mean about days at home. I may not get out of my pjs all day today until I shower this afternoon and put on clean ones. No one will ever know-well now everyone who reads this will.
Your Mother had a large family. My Mother was the oldest of 7 and lost a brother and sister before she went home. What a reunion that must have been.
About your Mom & Dad, it is great that they are friends. It makes it easier on the children. We celebrated the Princess' Baptism on Sunday with lunch out. We were joined by my son in laws parents and their spouses. It doesn't seem to be awkward for them. His parents divorced when he was 6 so it has been many many years.
Take care, enjoy work with hubby.
