My best friend Vicki met another little quilting Granny one day on her job.Thank goodness she sent me pictures of this amazing lady's work.
Look at this quilting frame. It is 2 saw horses with little grooves in it where 2 x 2 pcs. of wood lay. She lays one of the 2 x 2's on the floor and starts rolling the quilt on it and then places it in the groove. I hope I explained this right. Vicki told me how she did it. Amazing.
This little Quilting Granny is 86 years old. She made this quilt and if I am not wrong, I think that she said this was a king size quilt. She does it all by hand. Amazing.
Just look at this work! Amazing.
Vicki said the stitches were so tiny. She actually made a video of her hand stitching but I haven't figured out how to save it to my computer yet.
This quilt is 100 years old and she is hand quilting it for someone. She said that this hand quilting is called "chicken scratch." Amazing.

What beautiful work Granny does! $100 is almost robbery for that kind of handwork. I've been doing needlework for most of my life, but only recently heard of chicken scratch. It's a really neat technique of cross stitching on the surface of the fabric to form a design. Makes a quilt even more special. Thanks for sharing.

What an amazing idea for a hand quilting frame. I never would have thought of it. $100? Are you kidding? Can you imagine the HOURS involved? She should be charging MUCH more. Oh well, I know it keeps her busy, and that is what is important.
That handwork is beautiful. I like both the quilts but the red and white is my favorite.
I hope you find out how to save the video to your computer. I'd love to see it.
My mother used to have a set of quilting frames but they had a wooden peg that went through the
2x2 into the saw horse. I've never seen quilt frames like those in the picture.

I wish she lived near me...I need a quilter...I like to hand quilt but I am so slow and don't have a frame so it is all lap quilted...It is just too hot to do one right now...Those are beautiful.
