Sad News About Our Favorite Quilt Store

My Mom & I at our favorite quilt store.

Mom is so excited about making a mug rug!

Isn't this quilt beautiful?
And do you notice my bag?

"Angel" loves quilts too!

"Brother" found this little display bed and made himself at home.

"Brother" & Nana!

Just some eye candy.

Everything in this store is just gorgeous.

This is our block of the month.

This is the quilt that we are working on.

Look at the Block of the month finished,

Show and tell time in our Saturday club class!

I asked her if I could show something that wasn't quilt related.
I told them that my purse  was crocheted but when I told them that
it was made from plastic shopping bags everyone was so amazed.

Look at this lady looking at the bag as they passed it around
for show and tell.  Her face tells you how intrigued they were  with this bag.
I love it and if you love it too, you can visit Granny J and see what all she makes.

*****************************
We got some sad news about our favorite quilt store today.
We were just there yesterday and didn't even know this.
We received an email saying that they were closing.
This is not just a store to us. This is "special times" for me,
my Mom & my Grands.  We will miss the family who owns this store.
I don't know why this store is closing but I would like for you to help me pray
for the owners. I know they are so sad.  They have worked very hard to build this business.
This economy is hitting everyone hard.
We need to pray for our country.

Today I am thankful for ......HOPE.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

It's so sad to hear of yet another quilting store closing. It sounds like it was a wonderful store.

Val, Sorry to hear about the quilt shop. The same thing happened to the one we had in town. It's so hard for small businesses to make it these days. Looks like a neat store and the quilts and wall hangings are beautiful. Thanks for bringing the no reply blogger to my attention. I did research and think I now have it fixed. Thanks for sharing the photos. Have a good week.

Val, I'm really sorry to hear this - it looks like a fabulous store. It's just heartbreaking how many are closing their doors. I will pray for them.

I'm so sorry to hear your quilt store is closing. You're right about this economy affecting everyone. Let's hope there's a way to save the store. I'll pray for them. :-)

I love our quilt store! I am in tears that they are having to close. They have been so wonderful, and such talented people! It has always been such a joy to go there, and we have had some precious times together as we went there to learn, but also fun times together, you and me and sometimes the grandchildren.

I'm sorry the quilt shop is closing. It seems that every day there's an independent store of some kind that is closing their doors. I pray daily that the economy will turn around and people will be able to start rebuilding their lives.

Glad you enjoy the bag.

Awww! I hate to hear about a quilt shop closing. We only had 1 in Newnan and she closed down at the end of last year. Another one has opened and I feel SO terrible that I havent been in yet! Plan on going this week!

Val this is happening everywhere. I read on other blogs where quilt shops are closing. I received a post card in the mail that a shop south of us is closing. I think it will get much worse. I think online fabric stores have hurt the local quilt shops, and although they do have better prices (not as much overhead) I love to go to the LQS and see all the wonderful inspiration.

I am so sorry about your quilt shop news too! I really hate it.

But, on a brighter note - I could not help but be excited about your plastic bag purse! The reason is that I have crocheted with them too. I made Several "rugs" from them . They were so soft under foot when I was washing dishes and I made several for some of the dogs in all of our families lives and they REALLY appreciated them even more than the people did! It was so funny to watch them. Someone told me that they were really nice for the people who had cabins on the lake because they were so easy to clean. I have lost the link , but the lady that captured my attention made Many Many items with them because she wanted to find a way to recycle the bags and not let them just go to the landfill. She also made some of the most beautiful Snowmen for Christmas. Don't you just love all these creative people.: )

Oh Val, how very sad indeed that this quilt store is closing. It must be so frustrating for all these family owned businesses with the economy being the way it is. We used to have a family owned fabric store in our local mall but they had to close down a couple of years ago because of the economy. My prayers have been added to those of the others.

Loved seeing all the pictures of the quilts and such, so much talent out there!! I couldn't get over it when you said your purse was made out of plastic bags, how delightful!! xoxo

This is really, really sad. This is the 3rd shop I've heard about closing in the past week. What's the name of this one?
