Embroidery, Chicken Scratch, Crocheting

Learning to do embroidery!

I have been working on these for a while but finished them this month!

Perfect???  NO, but I am learning a lot!
I found these patterns in Sweet & Simple Embroidery by Gooseberry Patch.
I plan on putting these in frames just like it shows in this book.

Chicken Scratch.
This pattern came out of the book
More Chicken Scratch & Candlewicking by Pegasus Originals.
I did add the leaves on the trees and the grass!
I have been working on this off and on but it is finished now.
It was so much fun
For more info on chicken scratch you can go Here!

And now there are 2 Chrysanthemum Dish cloths!!!!
I showed you the one on the left that I learned in my crochet class the other day!
I wanted to try to do one on my own and I did it!!!
It's not perfect either but I already have another one started so I can learn more!

Today I decided to find a pattern for baby booties.
I wasn't sure I could do it but I did!
I didn't do it right but I will take the pattern
when I go to my crochet class and get Polly (my teacher)
to show me what I did wrong.
I think I may even have them wrong side out but I am still so proud of them!

This little matching hat is for a newborn baby.
Polly (my crochet teacher) wants us to learn how to read patterns
so I am so excited that I did this all by myself!
I think she will be proud of me for practicing!!

Isn't this so cute?
I didn't do the flower but I do want to try it.
I already had it in some of my things.
There is more to go with this little newborn set
and I am so excited to learn how to make it all!!!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR......my encouragers!
I am linking up to the following people who do encourage me all the time!

Cracker Recipe BUT First Things First

I did it!!!

My new dish cloth!!!
I can't believe that I finished it!

You can find the pattern Here!
Thank you Polly for teaching me how to make this chrysanthemum dish cloth!
I am ready to start another one and see if I can do it again!!!

Here are the ingredients for the cracker recipe.
1 1/2 cup of Canola oil
Box of crackers
Package of Ranch dressing mix
1 tsp of crushed red pepper flakes

The sweet lady that shared this recipe at the crochet class said that she uses a pickle jar.
I didn't have one but used what I had.

Mix oil, red pepper flakes, & ranch dressing mix together.

Then pour over crackers.

Turn your jar on the side and then every 30 minutes or so turn a different way.
Up, upside down, sideways, etc.
This is so the oil distrubutes evenly.

I let mine sit in the jar with the oil overnight.
Then I removed the crackers and put in another jar.
You would think the crackers would be soft and oily but
they are crisp and dry.

The crackers are delicious!
Next time I will add a little more red pepper.
Crackers with a twist!

I served this layered salad with the crackers
one night when we had friends over.
They loved them as much as we did.
TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.......challenges (like my new dish cloth)!

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Crocheting Class & Crackers?

Every week I take pictures in my crocheting class.
Every week I see so much progress that everyone has made.

I haven't even done any crocheting since this class.
I need to get back to my dish cloth!

This class means so much to me.
It is something I have always wanted to do just for "me"!

And on top of that, I get to be with my friends Teresa & Polly.

Isn't this beautiful?

Did I tell you what happened to Teresa's scarf she was making?

Her dog found it and it is not a scarf anymore!!!
I just know she could have just cried over that!

This is another dish cloth being made.
I was really interested in this because I need help bad!!
I am gonna try to be the teachers pet at the next class!!! lol

I didn't get to go last week because we were out of town.
I am so anxious to get back.

Once a month the ladies have a birthday
celebration for the birthdays in that month.

When I get my dish cloth made,
I hope to make a baby blanket for my daughter.
Polly (my teacher) said that I could do it.
We will see!

"May May" is due in October.
We are so excited.
We don't know what this little one is going to be.
They chose not to find out this time.
This will be their second baby and they just
celebrated their 10th anniversary this past weekend.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

Are you wondering about the crackers???
Well I was in the class crocheting away when Teresa
asked me if I tasted of these crackers.
She said you have got to go and get one.
I looked at this plate and thought to myself....
saltine crackers?
Well I tasted one......and another......and another!
It is like potato chips...you can't eat just one.
We asked the lady that made them for the recipe and she gladly shared it.
"Sweet Teen" & "Angel" & I made them the very next day.
I will share the recipe with you on the next post.
You will love them!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.......sharing with friends!

Fun Times

I truly believe that if my Grands could, they would
own at least one of every pet there is!

One of the fun things we do every summer
is go and visit a pet store just for fun!

It was time for the animals to eat so they were all turned toward the back!

My Grands have as much fun doing this as if
we were somewhere spending a lot of money!

We take our time and just enjoy!

It is almost as good as going to the zoo!

Uh Oh "Sweet Teen" found the one she wanted!

Yep, thats it!
What ya think Dad???

Oh I think "Angel" is in love.

Look at all of these birds!

A rabbit.
This Grand loves animals!

"Brother" loves the fish!!!
It doesn't take much to make my Grands happy
as long as they are with some of the family.
They are so sweet even if I say so myself.
Wish "Little D" could have been with us!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR......precious memories.

Happy Birthday to my son Nathan!!!

Sweet Teen's Chicken Scratch & Sewing

One day "Sweet Teen" wanted to learn chicken scratch.
Since I am just a beginner myself it thrilled me that she wanted to learn from me!

Here she is working all on her own.

She did 2 projects in one afternoon.
I love it when my Grands ask me to teach them things.

This is her first project that she finished.

Excuse the marks on it.
We forgot to rinse them off!!!
Isn't it pretty though?
(even with those marks)!

She picked this one out of the book to do.
She loves kitty's!

Since I took this picture of this finished project
she has added some white filling stitches.
It is just beautiful.

Remember a couple of months ago when
Sweet Teen had a school project and
we made some pajama pants?

Here they are all finished!
She finished them herself.
And look at this!!! She made her own pattern!
She was going to get a tank top and applique a
butterfly or heart on the front but her teacher
wanted something that she had sewn herself.

I was so impressed that she did that top all on her own!

Do you think I am a proud Gran???
I am!
We have 4 and one on the way!
TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.......Grands that love me!

A Hundred years From Now

...it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a CHILD!
