A Granny Gift & Busy Work

A while back my Aunt Carol emailed and asked me if I wanted
Granny's old Mixer!
What do you think I said?
I was so excited!
And look......it has a blender!
This little jewel is going to "Our Little Hilton" with all of Granny's other stuff!

My Uncle Joe makes a great garden and they also gave me lots of veges!
Thank you to my family for these sweet gifts!

I have been so busy this summer with lots of things
including my granddaughters!
It tickles me that even though "Sweet Teen" is driving,
they came to my house almost everyday this summer!

And my oldest Grandson!
If you are wondering what he is doing.....he is throwing the biscuits to the birds!!

And my youngest grandson ...............
has Paw Paw's straw hat on!
He loves anything to do with his Paw Paw!
And he will have a little Brother or Sister soon!

My little garden hasn't done great this year but it still keeps me busy!

I planted several things in my barrels and they have done great!
This is my cucumbers.

And my lettuce!
I love picking my own salad stuff!

These are some of the flowers from the seeds  that Darla sent me!

I LOVE fresh tomatoes out of the garden!

I planted my gourds in a barrel and just let them grow across my old swing!
I think they grow a foot a day!

Oh yes, I wanted to show you this!
My Dad gave me this bedspread too.
I thought it looked perfect on my rocker!

Say hello to Polly (my friend and crochet teacher)!
I am loving my crochet class.
I am making my new grandbaby something real special
but can't show you until after the shower.
It is at the end of the month!
If it wasn't for Polly I would not be able to do it!

Of course I am still making all kinds of Dish cloths!
This one is a granny square!

Our blueberries came and went within 3 weeks!
I froze several quarts for blueberry muffins in the winter!

I made a pound cake yesterday!
I sliced it up and put some slices in the freezer
and the rest will be eaten this weekend!

This is my strawberries.
I have put them in my raised bed garden since this picture was took.

And I have been hand quilting!!!
This is a quilt top that I found at a thrift store.

I try to do 15 minutes a day on it!
Thank you Patricia for all of your encouragement!
It is because of her that I am doing this and I am not good but
I am loving it!

Today I am thankful for .........Busy Work!

Have a great weekend!
I am planning one myself!!
Oh by the way, I have not been able to comment again!!!
What is going on with blogger?
Don't think I am not reading because I am!!!

15 minutes a day will get it done and you will be a better hand quilter when it is finished.

Val, my garden was the pits this year. I did enjoy my dozen small tomatoes and three bunches of basil, but that is all that survived. Planning the fall garden now.

Love the old mixer with blender. Never seen one quite like it. It will be priceless to you as it belonged to your grandmother. Looks like you are staying busy. Love pictures of your grands. Can see in their faces how much they love you. Did I read that you don't know what the new baby is going to be? So fun! That pound cake looks great. Yummy. Have it on my list to bake one before craft show so I can take it up there to share while show is going on. Hoping you have a great weekend.

Oh, Val. Look at sweet teen, she's more gorgeous every day ... & the other kid-lings. That mixer will mean more to you than all the gold ... God bless Granny.

Have a beautiful weekend.

Wow Val, you sure have been busy. My family and I have been up in Gay GA for the last few days. What beautiful country. My daughter and I have been looking for antique/junk shops in the area. Can't wait to see your new baby crochet.

Hi Val.. Your have a lot going on these days. You are a baker and I know you will love Granny's mixer. I'm sure you remember her using it. Always love to see your grands. That's a beautiful blanket that Dad brought to you.

You are becoming so good at all of your crocheting! I know you are having a good time and your friend, Polly, looks like a sweetheart. Oh...and the quilt!!!!!! Good going! It is going to be very pretty!

O Val!
Blueberries and pound cake - two of my very favorite Things! YUM! Even more so when I read all the health benefits from the blueberries. I don't think I could ever get my fill of blueberries! LOL

I loved your garden walk-about! That was so much fun!

Always enjoy your crochet projects. I did one for my granddaughter last week, You start at the back of the strap that is on a flip-flop and you single crochet all around it. Then make 3 medallions and sew them on and you are in business. I was impressed at how it really did give the flip-flops a little "bling"!

Our garden struggled this year, too. I think it needs some "coolness" during the night and too many of our nights were steamy hot this summer. We actually had that same problem last year, too. :( I enjoy seeing your photos and hearing about your activities. Thanks for sharing with us!

Val, we had a mixer just like your Granny's when I was growing up. A Sunbeam was the brand. It mixes up some mighty fine, tasting mashed taters. tee hee I remember them........ Also, 15 minutes a day is a very good goal for hand quilting. I am proud of you !

What a delight to have Granny's mixer. It will be perfect at the Hilton.

The kiddies are so cute! I love the big hat.

Your garden looks productive enough to satisfy which is plenty!!!

That quilt will be wonderful. I love the simple squares.
