HE Knew Before We Knew

I remember this day well.
We discovered that the porch was falling from the house!!!
Thank goodness our carpenters saw this.
Sweet Hunter had them go up in the ceiling of it because
he was considering raising the ceiling.
Boy were we surprised!!!
Thank goodness it was fixable.

This is one of my favorite pictures of our grandson!
He was still so little.
Right when we started our remodeling project here at the farm,
our daughter decided to get in to Real Estate.
So we had the babies for 2 weeks.
But they pitched in and worked hard as they could!
We fixed "Little Bit" a bed in the swing outside!

We also found out the seals that hold the house up were rotting.
Remember, our farmhouse was built in 1887.
Thank goodness, Sweet Hunter is used to these surprises!

After tearing some of the floor we found this old vinyl under the wood.
It was layers and layers of this stuff!
Might I say ugly???

Another room we had to tear the floor out!
The rooms were painted different colors in every room.
The ceilings are 11 foot high.
It was beautiful even though we were tearing it out.
Sweet Hunters goal was to keep the integrity of the old,
yet bring some of today in to the house.

Still at it!
I remember this well.
At one time the original bathroom was in this area.
We didn't know that until we started tearing out.
I remember water being under the floors!
But we found the leak and stopped it!

Another one of my favorite pictures of 2 of our grands!
Sweet Angel & Little Bit.
I don't know what I would have done without her
during this time!

2 More of our Grands....
"Brother & Little D"!
They worked so hard.
This was 2 years ago.
It is amazing how much they have grown!

This is a closer look at the back porch.
As you can see, it was almost rotten.
This was screened in and we tore it all out.
My dream one day is to enlarge it and screen it in again.

Going through all these pictures trying to catch up my blog and found this.
The lady that used to own the house was a doll collector.
These are just a few of the ventriloquist dolls we found!
Aren't they cute?

*******************************
Keep watching my updates and hopefully you will see the finished project soon!!!

I can't help but think of this verse when I think of how far we have come.
We didn't even realize we had these desires but HE knew before we did!

Delight thyself also in the LORD:
and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Psalm 37:4

Looking Back

I won't ever forget coming to the house one morning
to find my best friend pulling weeds out of a flower garden right next to the kitchen door.
I don't know how long this garden had been there
but it had beautiful flowers in it.
The carpenters were ready to add on to the kitchen,
but needed these plants moved.
Look who came to the rescue!
Vicki Lou!

We were so excited that this farmhouse was actually ours
yet, so overwhelmed not knowing where to start.
This house had so many outside doors.
You can see on the back where we had closed one up.
We eventually closed that window up too right next to it.

This is a view of the back porch.
It was a screened in porch full of stuff and lots of wasp nest.
I was glad to see it all torn down.

This is the opposite side.
This is the side of the kitchen.
Notice the antenna.
I wish I had kept that.
I think paying for t.v. is such a waste.
The seller told us that him and his brothers
would climb down that antenna pole
to sneak out of the house.
He said they would sneak down to the river.
I loved that story.

The flower garden that my best friend, Vicki worked on ended up down here
at the bottom of the driveway.
We ended up enlarging our kitchen and
when the carpenters started they just dug it all up
and threw it aside. I was just sick. But I got out there and got it all up and replanted it.
It doesn't look like much here but when it blooms it is beautiful.

These pictures are 2 years ago when I first planted it.
Now, I use this area to plant things people give me
until I can decide where to put them.
Its in the shade and kind of cool and down near the river.

This picture was took after we had done a lot of cleaning up.
We were taking one step at a time.
Looking back at these pictures makes me realize we have made a lot of progress.
Right now, I am trying to update my blog since I have been away so long.
There will be updated pictures soon.
Thanks for joining me on my journey going down memories lane.

Before and After Bathroom

I didn't get pictures of the whole bathroom BEFORE but this is part of it.
This is what it was like when we looked at the house.
I actually liked the bathroom.
What am I saying....I loved it all!!!
Anyway, it also had a blue shower/tub combination
and a blue commode.
The sellers had remodeled it in the 70's.
But we took it all out and made it ours.

Sorry about picture quality.
But this piece of furniture was sitting in the bedroom with
a huge old t.v. on it.
When "Sweet Hunter" saw this he told me not to sell it
because he knew what he wanted to do with this.
So I marked it sold.

Next thing I knew, we were at Ace Hardware
and he bought this 12.00 bucket.
He came back and told me what he wanted to do.
OH I LOVED his idea!!!!!

So here we go.....

This is the AFTER.
After Sweet Hunter done his thing.
I found the faucet at Lowes.
But I just love our bucket as a sink.

Isn't it beautiful?

The 2 framed pieces my Sweet Mother gave those to me.
The Coke soap dispenser & the soap dish were bought at an estate sale.
I knew I had to have a claw foot tub in this house.
Sweet Hunter wanted to keep some of the old
but also bring the house up to date.
A friend heard I was looking for a claw foot tub
and just so happened her daughter was fixing to take one out of her house.
So....there we went.
And got it.
It is one of my favorite things in the house.

Our daughter, Trouble, bought the tray with the mirror.
It was so perfect!!!!
Our niece bought the wreath on the tub.

This little old chair was here at the farm up in the shed.
The wash board & heart wreath,  the burlap stocking was here in the house.
The quilt tops were made by the sellers Mother.
I am planning on finishing those one day!

These things were here at the farm.
We found both of them up in the shed.

I LOVE this.
Our daughter, "May May" called and told me about one of her
friends selling this.
I said absolutely!!!!

Our towel racks came from Ace Hardware.
They were made by the Amish.
The old ironing board was here at the farm.

This little table was online and my Granddaughter, Tris
saw it and called me.
I ran out and got it.
I LOVE it.

That door knob laying on the table was off an old door
that we took out.
I wanted to keep something.
The tissue holder sitting on the table was from a friend.
It originally had plants in it.

This canvas was a gift from a friend.
I think she's one of the most talented people I know.
***********
Where we love is........
HOME......
home that our feet may leave,
but not our hearts.
*****
That is soooo me!!!!

Last but not least....
The Amish made tissue holder and
another gift from my friend.
This had greenery in it but I made it to hold
magazines.

So I leave you here....
in the bathroom.....
at the farm!
SMILE!!!!

And 38 Years Later

It all started because two people fell in love.......
Our cup runneth over!
