My Other Quilt Project

This is the blocks that I have laid out but not sewn together.
This is the 2 1/2" squares to make the 4 Patches.

Here are the 6 - 4 patches

Here is the quilt with the sashing &
4 patches laid out ready to be sewn together.
Here I am hiding behind the quilt top
that is finally sewn together.

This is the quilt I am working on with Amanda Jean's Quilt a long! I am so excited! I have actually got the blocks put together. Next is cutting 430 2 1/2" squares to start on the border. I was a nervous wreck while putting this together. My husband says that he is that way when he sees a turkey in the woods. His heart pounds, he breathes hard, and is a nervous wreck. I told him that described me today! I am very proud of myself since I am just learning to quilt. I have a lot to do, but I feel like I am on the way. Thank you, Amanda Jean! I love it!

Quilting Class 101 Homework

Just sewing right along......
Happy on my journey........

Even doing the chain sewing.......... I was so proud!
Then.....as I was ironing the perfect STAR and talking to my mom on the phone, I realized I had a perfect T!

So I started ripping seams.......
I finally got it done though!
Here are the 4 blocks I have done so far for our Quilting class!

2 Posts in one day......I couldn't help myself!

Our homework this week from our quilting class was to put this star together. I thought I was really doing good. My mom was at her house doing hers also. I called to see how she was doing on hers and she was frustrated and ripping out seams. Anyway, I was feeling sorry for her and telling her how to do it. (Like I knew what I was doing). While I was talking to her about how to fix hers, I was ironing my perfect star...........Then I discovered my "STAR" was a "T"! It was hilarious! I laughed so hard at myself. Anyway the pictures tell the story! But I finally did it!
My Mom's seam ripper is blogging......Go check it out!

My Turkey Hunter!

Look, its a big one!
The tail feathers.
Just look at all the colors....

Pawpaw and his little wannabee turkey hunter!
The funny thing is "My Sweet Hunter" talks about his turkeys, like I talk about my quilts! He looks for sporting goods stores while I look for quilting stores! Isn't life so funny?

I LOVE my "Sweet Hunter" & his little wannabee!

Day Before Easter

Easter Egg Hunt at Nana's House

Day Before, Day of, Day after EASTER

I thought I would share with you our Easter this year. The day before Easter, my grandchildren colored lots of eggs and had a ball. I let them keep their pajamas on all day. We made cookies and did some crafts. It was a fun day. Then we had a great lunch yesterday, (Easter) at my moms (Nana's)house! Everybody brought something and it was a wonderful lunch. We missed my daughter Maranda & her husband, Cory and my sister, Brenda and her family. After we ate the kids went out and had an Easter Egg Hunt. It was very cool and windy. Then comes today, the day after Easter......and we had SNOW! It wasn't much but it was beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice! It just covered the ground and went away almost as quick as it came, but it was so pretty.

Mandy

Mandy & Martha Making Fabric Easter Cards

My baby daughter, Mandy came over to help me paint the table that you saw in the last post. After painting the table we went into my sewing room and Mandy started telling me about some fabric Easter cards she had saw Martha Stewart do on t.v.- I just couldn't believe she was talking about this. I also had saw the same show. I had went that very day and purchased the bone folder, the card stock, and the paper cutter to make these cards. I just started handing them to her. She couldn't believe her eyes. She started working on them and in just a few minutes with the video of Martha going on the computer, Mandy finished several cards to send for Easter. We had so much fun! I just loved seeing her so happy! She is my creative child!

My New Table

Before Pictures
Before...

Me & Mandy painting in the garage

After....

I found this little table at the thrift store. I was so excited. I have been wanting to change my end tables. This is a very big room, but on one end of my sectional, there is only room for a 12 inch wide end table. I have looked everywhere to find something I like and I haven't been able to. Then I walked in the thrift store.........and there it was! I wanted 2 but only found this one. I walked around and thought about it and couldn't keep my eyes off of it. My daughter Mandy came and helped me paint it. We had a lot of fun doing it! You can see how old it looked and now how pretty it is. It is absolutely perfect! Now I think I need some pretty quilted pillows to match the color....Hhhhhhmmmm!

My First Quilt Class

My Mom, Alice Grace & I started our quilt class last night. It is amazing the little tips that we learned the very first night. We never expected to actually get a block done but we did!
Lavender Lime Quilt Shop is where we are taking Quilting 101. They teach the basics of quilting and we will have a small quilt or wall hanging when we get through with the class. We are also doing a Quilt a long with Amanda Jean over at crazymomquilts.blogspot.com. This class will help us in doing this quilt also. We have 4 more classes to go. We are so excited and had so much fun! I could hardly sleep last night thinking of everything! I THINK I HAVE THE QUILTING FEVER!

Go to My Mom's Blog to see a closer picture of her quilt block!

Organizing On A Rainy Day

I have been organizing! Isn't that one of my goals? I started with my cabinets, and then went to my bakers rack in my pantry and ended up organizing my fabric! Wonder why I always end up in my sewing room? It was a rainy day yesterday. I love being home when it rains. I stepped out on my deck and took a couple of pictures of the rain and thanked the Lord we were getting it. "I really enjoyed organizing on this beautiful rainy day. Yesterday was a good day.
