Granny Reached The World

This is the little program from Granny's funeral. I just thought you all would like to see that Phil. 4:13 was the verse that the family chose to put on this. My aunt K called me and asked me what it was and I told her. I will never ever forget that Granny told me that it was always in her heart. Also when she got so sick and she saw me she kept quoting that verse but then there came a time when she said "I can't." But she would try to change it to "I can". Oh my! Tears.

I have always taught my Grandchildren this verse. I never ever thought when I shared Phil. 4:13 with Granny the day she lost faith in her sewing machine that I was teaching her....this woman of great faith. This verse will always be special to me no matter what I have to go through in this life.

A very sweet friend, Tina sent me this just this week. She made this Granny Angel and the card just for me. Inside the card was the sweetest note ever. Isn't it so pretty? I love it and it just made my week. It will hang in my sewing room right next to Granny's picture. We also discovered that our Granny's passed away on the very same day but different years. Isn't that something? Thank you Tina for thinking of me.

This is the front cover of a book that the "honeymooners" made for my daddy. Oh you just would not believe what all is in it. We are going to add more to it. My dad treasures it. He took it to visit someone this week and took it with him to show off. If you notice at the top of the picture they printed out "Granny's Perfect Quilt" written by Marlene. Maranda also printed and framed it for my dad and we used it at the funeral. I will take a picture of it and show it soon.

They took different posts out of my blog and put them in the book.
They also included the comments on each of those posts.
My dad doesn't have internet so this means the world to him.
I want to add to the book so he can see all the posts eventually.
I also added the comments from Granny's guestbook from the funeral home.
Everyone is amazed at all the comments. Most of them are from bloggers!
Granny reached the world and never knew it. There is not many people who can say they reached the world. If you haven't signed the guestbook or would like to read it just click Granny's guestbook (above) and go to the search box and put it Beulah Gribble and view guest book. It is amazing to read.

This note was sent the week that Granny got sick. Donna had bought a quilt and was asking Granny to sign her "Faith Quilt". Oh how I wish I could have got it signed for her. But it was too late. This will also be added to the book. I did finally get all of the quilts shipped out for Granny. It was so hard to do but then I remembered "our" verse and I got the strength to pack them up and let them go. About a week before she passed away, I went and got money out of my acct. and went ahead and paid Granny for the quilts that I had sold. I would have never ever thought that Granny would be gone that next week. I knew the money would come in. Not one blogger has ever failed me on that and sure enough everyone came through. I am just amazed that I had paid her before hand. She loved seeing that money. She always said, "whew, look at that payday"! She would always hand it to my dad and he would put it in her safe place.

These pictures are some of the ones that were displayed at the funeral home. You bloggers will remember all of these but I put all this together the day that the family met at the funeral home. I also put together a DVD. It was mostly quilt related pictures but that was Granny's love. Did you know that Granny's worst fear is that she would have a quilt started and not get it finished? Well, Granny finished a quilt on the Saturday before she got sick Monday morning. Granny didn't believe on doing any work on Sunday. So Granny finished her work on that Saturday. Isn't that amazing? These are just a few of the things that I wanted to share with you since the funeral. There will be much more on Granny's life. Everyday I find out more and more. This is a special woman in all of our lives.

Oh, Val....your Granny did reach the world... and it was through your help! What an amazing woman she was! She will always be remembered in your heart and in the hearts of many others.

It is wonderful that your Dad now has a book of his own to cherish. That was a wonderful idea from the Honeymooners.

Blessings and prayers,
Susannah

Many months ago I found you blog and checked it every day to see Granny's latest quilt. Then one day my computer crashed and I couldn't find your blog again. I recently found out how to do a blog search through Google and found your blog only to find that your Granny had passed away. I went back and read every single post. I sat here and listened to the video with her sweet voice on it. I will never again look at a quilt or one of the large safety pins without thinking of your Granny. She will always be an inspiration to me.

I wonder if there is a way for us to get a copy of that program. I printed out the Obituary. I have saved some of her pictures from your blog. Her memory will live on in my heart. We were all touched by her while she lived on earth.
Blessings,

Valerie I can't tell you how honored I have been by the use of what I wrote for Granny. I never dreamed when I wrote it that it would come to mean so much to anyone...it was just what I felt in my heart. Granny was such a blessing to so many people and I can't help but smile at how God used her to touch so many. Wouldn't she love knowing that! She loved the Lord and He loved her. blessings, marlene

Val, Granny was and still is an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for sharing this with us. I find it amazing that Granny finished her last quilt before she got sick, she left no loose ends.

Another Granny lesson learned: We are all a living example to someone. The righteous living of one sweet little lady may have seemed insignificant to some, but to so many of us she was a constant reminder of how to live our lives the way God intended!

It is good that you were able to talk about Granny here on this post. I know with time the healing will come and be complete, and we will all feel complete when we see her again in heaven. Marlene's post about Grannys "perfect" quilt is a work of art, and Marlene would be so happy to know that it was in an honored place at Granny's funeral. Thanks, Marlene.
