The Sparta Hilton Part 1

For some reason I thought I had done a post on this already but I can't find it.
This is back in Feb. of this year. This is our latest challenge. Meet our friends, Rog & D. They are our hunting buddies. Well actually the guys are hunting buddies. Our sweet hubbies told us about a "hunting cabin" in the woods. Well, evidently we like challenges. There was no power on in this "building".....I mean "hunting cabin" so we had to look at it in the dark. It was full of stuff. The last hunter that had been there was there 24 years! Needless to say, it was full of stuff. So we rolled up our sleeves and went at it. I think we just like to work!
This is their son Josh and he was so much help. He is a very hard worker.
He builds great fires too!
We had so much fun on the way to this "hunting cabin". It is several hours away from our home so we had plenty of time to talk about what we thought it would be like. Now the guys warned us that it was a "hunting cabin" but we sure were hoping for the best.

We saw a house on the way and it was falling in. They made us believe that it was the place.
We had no idea what was in store for us!
It wasn't falling in but it sure wasn't a womens dream of a "hunting cabin".
I think we hauled off 5 loads to the dump.
But the guys think it is great!

We sure did have some nice fires though.
It felt great back in Feb.
We all decided that we would call it the
"Sparta Hilton". It really is not a cabin. It is actually a shack.
But I like shacks! I hope.

The guys are putting up some feeders and cameras.
They were so excited. They have 125 acres to hunt on.

Well this is our kitchen! We made a good team.
Oh you are seeing the kitchen pretty clean now!
She had that sink shining! You will see more pictures in another post.

The smile you see on my face is only because D told me to smile!
The refrigerator was in good condition but just needed a good cleaning.
See the concrete floors! I kind of had in mind maybe......hardwood!! Smile.
We did keep these little chairs to sit around the fire.
The best part of our "hunting cabin" is the shed.
You will be surprised when you see what we do to it all.
We are not gonna spend a lot of money on it because ...........well, we don't want to!
But I think we are gonna have fun! Well, we already have!

How come that in these pictures us girls are working and you don't see the guys doing that much??? Just kidding guys!
This was back in Feb. of this year. I labeled this part 1 because tomorrow I hope to give you an update. We had only been there this one time to work but it is coming right along. You will see what we accomplished this past weekend in my next post. We are actually getting excited. I am ready to get the work done so we can play! Work & challenges.....we must love it!

Val, we lived in a small cabin that had concrete floors for many years. It was a tiny three room house. We loved it! :0) Our home now is pretty modest but we love it.....

, I can't wait to see this "Extreme Cabin Makeover"! How fun! I too love shacks. I can't wait to see the rest of it. I always say, it doesn't have to be the Hilton just clean and it looks like you're taking care of that piece.

An adventure like this is soooo much easier (not to mention fun!) when it's done with another couple and/or friends. Looks like you all have had a good time shaping things up!

You make the most awful chores look like fun, you have a great attitude toward life. Love it.

My sister and her husband go to shoots and my sis can hit that target dead-on most of the time. I've never shot a gun in my life, unless you would count those capguns we played cowboys with as kids. I can still remember the smell of the stuff when it would shoot. We used to take a rock and smash those rolls that went into the guns on the concrete sidewalk. I don't remember why, but at the time it seemed like a good idea.

Hello dear Valerie:-)

I'm finally back from my bloggy break and it feels so good to be posting and visiting again! Remodeling a bedroom is a lot of work, I can't even imagine you doing a whole house!! lol I painted the crown moulding this morning so that will be ready to be put up tomorrow. The laminate floor will be put in over the weekend so I'm really excited that it's finally going to be all done.

I had to smile when I read about your "hunting cabin" because it reminded me of when my dad and his hunting buddies had brought their wives one weekend. As mom puts it...it was four posts with plastic to make the walls and the roof! lol I think I would much prefer a cabin, no matter how small it was!! I'm looking forward to seeing how you all fix up that cabin, I have no doubt it will be a gorgeous little place:-) xoxo
