Mennonite Farm Market Part 1

I have always been intrigued with the Amish & Mennonites.
My Mom invited me and my sister to go with her to this Mennonite Farm Market.
It is only about an hour away from where we live.
This is my Mom, sister & my nephew paying for their vegetables.
I asked the lady if she minded me taking pics of them.
She said she didn't mind but they don't like to pose for pictures.
The vegetables were beautiful but just wait until you see the  next post and all the gardens.
I brought all of my Grands with me.  All four of them.
We had the best day.
This is the Delano Farm Market in Delano TN.
The market was great but the best is yet to come.
Stay tuned for Part 2!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR .........family.

Something to ponder......

In times of the cross, time was spent in consoling and edifying one another, in visiting those in prison and in preparing for suffering by devout meditations.  Consider now, on what have you bestowed your precious time.  How much of it has been squandered in extravagance and vanity?  How much has been wasted in disputes and quarrels?  How much has been lost by needless anxiety and labor, and how little has remained for devotion?......
An excerpt from the Mennonite pamphlet called "Is Love Growing Cold?"

Amish and Mennonites intrigue me too. In fact, that subject is about all I have been reading lately. Amish fiction, mennonite fiction. Love to learn all about them.

I've always been interested in both the Amish and Mennonite lifestyles. I envy them their simple lives without all the frills.

Oh, Val! I want to go there! Will you please email me and tell me where it is located??? I have heard there is a place just north of 411 near the GA/TN line - is that where this is???

They are fascinating people. They are such hard workers! There's an Amish settlement near my sister's home and we have visited it several times. They run a restaurant that serves delicious food, mostly grown there, along with a store that sells bulk grains and cheeses. Looking forward to your next post!

I love our local mennonite market. My Uncle and Aunt were mennonites. They joined the church when they were in their 50's and stayed with the Mennonite culture until they died. The market there seems to have more veggies than our local. In our area, the Mennonites have a local bakery, meat market, furniture store, veggie and fruit market. Can't wait to see what shows up next. Glad you got to take the Grands along. Blessings!

Wow, look at those lovely veggies! mmmm . . . can almost taste them. My Grandma was a good German Mennonite lady who loved to grow veggies, raspberries, cook and quilt. Have always had a special place in my heart for all things Mennonite.

It sounds like it was a great day out for you. I am surprised that they allowed photos as the ones where I grew up still do not want pictures taken of themselves. It is fine to photograph everything BUT the people.

We lived near an Amish area for a little while. The first time I saw a young man on his buggy with crazy purple lights flipping around underneath I got a real kick out of it. I guess he was still in his "decision" making time. Such good people.

Could you post or email directions? When are they open? This may be the same market that is also about an hour from my home....in the opposite direction. I've wanted to go there for several years.

St. Jacobs that I mentioned in my comment in your Part 2 post also has a huge Farmer's Market and I always fill up quite a few bags with homegrown and made goodies:-) How I would have loved to join you on this trip! No doubt the grands had a fun time as well!! I had read that you shouldn't take pictures of the Mennonites unless you ask their permission because they don't like having their picture taken but I'm sure they're used to people taking their picture anyway! lol xoxo
