I am joining in with Peggy at The Simple Womans Daybook.
Today, Sept. 30, 2011

Outside my window....it is dark and there is a chill in the air that sure comes in handy when you have a hot flash!! lol

Hearing....some beautiful music.

I am wondering....whats next???

Feeling thankful for....my life.

I am remembering....when I had my first baby girl...tomorrow is her birthday!!

Creating....trying to get the points on a star block to match!

I am currently reading....a quilting magazine but I did read a book at "our little Hilton" called "The Promise".  It was really good.

I am hoping....for another blessing.

I am looking forward to....well, you will find out soon!!! (smile).

On my mind....Anticipation.

Noticing that....laundry is done, ironing is done, house is clean, everything is done. Love it!!!

Pondering these words....I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.

In the kitchen....Supper done and kitchen cleaned.

Around the house....waiting......

I am praying for....my family and my friends, & our country.

A few plans for the weekend....hopefully spending quality time with family.

One of my favorite pictures.....

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR......birth-days!
Happy Birthday Trouble!!!

Homemade Laundry Detergent & Sweet Friend

I realize that I have posted this before but making your own laundry
detergent is so worth it!

1 Cup grated bar soap ( I use Ivory soap)
1/2 Cup borax
1/2 Cup Washing soda
Water

Grate 1 cup of bar soap

Add soap to 1-1/2 quarts of water along with your borax
and washing soda and heat until soap has dissolved.
This doesn't take long at all.

I used to buy this big bucket of laundry detergent at Sam's Wholesale
so I use this old bucket to make and store my detergent in.

Put 8 qts. of cold water in the bucket or a big container.

Add your hot mixture to the bucket of water and let cool.
The mixture will thicken very quickly.
Once it thickens then you can pour in to other containers if you want to.
You can also add fragrance if you desire.
Use 1/4 cup per load.
I am all for saving money!
Try it!
You might like it!
And I am joining Allie with Christmas Through The Year because
I am giving all of my children a gift of this laundry detergent for Christmas!!

BLESSINGS
Look at all this stuff!!!
I was on facebook the other night and saw where
a friend of mine got a great deal  with her coupons.
The total costs of all her items was over $500.00 and she only paid approx.
 90 dollars for her purchases.
I commented on her good deal and the next day
I had this waiting at my door when I got home!
Is this a good friend or what????

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR........a special sweet friend.

Good Things

With the economy like it is everyone is looking for a way to save money.
My contract has been up on my cell phone.
I don't like being tied to a contract so I was looking for a phone that
I didn't have to commit my life too.

I found it at "WALmart!
Imagine that! Go Here if you want more info.
So far so good.
On my other phone I had unlimited talk and 200 texts.
This phone is unlimited talk, text, and internet and
I am saving half what I was paying.
I love the fact that I am not bound to a contract!

I love this cooler weather so I served our supper out
on our screened in porch.

"Sweet Hunter" loves to come home
and have supper done and waiting on him.

Lemon Pepper tilapia
Creamed spinach
Slaw
Corn on the cob
See we do eat healthier at home!!!

You can't tell it in this picture but it was pouring rain.
It was so nice to eat out on our porch with the rain coming down.

"Sweet Hunter" knows how to get on my good side!!
When he washes dishes, he has me at HELLO!!!

My daughter, "Big Sis" gave me this book with
lots of crocheting patterns for slippers in it.
I am so excited and can't wait to try to make a pair but
it will have to wait.......
Don't ask me what I did because I have no idea!
But I do know it hurts.
I sure do miss my crocheting though.
I haven't crocheted in about a week.
But it is getting better with prednisone & keeping it still.
This has been a hard thing for me to do
since I am learning how much I love hand work.

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.......my hands!

Today I Did This....

I read about a terrible tragedy on several blogs and wanted to join in
and help. If you would like to read about it click Here. I have missed
helping bloggers lately for good causes and wanted to start helping so
I thought I would try. I picked out my fabrics and started.

I haven't made any quilt blocks in a while but I did try.

The cutting went okay but it is time to
lay it out and put it
together.

So far, so good.

Still looking good.

But then I sewed it together.
Then I saw the points do not match.
Guess i will have to try again.
Any pointers?
My blogging friend Pat is going to send me a tutorial
to help me.
Thank you Pat!

**********************
And Today this is what
"Sweet Hunter" did!
He is a Happy Hunter!

And he shot it with a bow!!!
And "Brother" got to see a real deer
 instead of 2 chickens & a possum!!!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.........doing something that we both love.

A Night At "Our Little Hilton"

When "Big Sis" & Lane and "Angel & Brother" got to
"our little hilton" and the guys went hunting
this is what I found the girls doing.
Do you remember that word search book?
Granny gave it to me.

If you remember, the thugs that vandalized
"our little hilton" took one of my horseshoe stakes!
The other one they dropped out at the gate as they were leaving.
Nevertheless, Lane found another stake for us to use so
they didn't stop us from playing horseshoes!
I don't know how I caught "Angel" jumping up on Lanes back!!!
Smile.
I love cooking outside on the fire.
There is just something about it.
We were going to fry some potatoes.
Imagine that!!

"Big Sis" brought the ingredients for s'mores!!!
Yummy!
"Angel" was getting the cheese ready for the hot dogs!
The potatoes are on the fire!

There is just something about being outside with a fire!

Well the hunters are back and "Brother" was starving!!!

We were all relaxing around the fire after we had eaten
and then all of the sudden.................
Mr. Fox came for his food!
He got so close to us.
Of course I had my camera in hand.
"Sweet Hunter" & Lane were the only ones left outside after that.
The rest of us ran in the house!!!
Here is "Angel" calling her Mom to tell her all about it.
She was the first one to run in!!!
She was so scared.
"Big Sis" was next and then me & "Brother!!!
(Giggle!)

As we got calmed down from the fox I looked at this little hunter
and he looked so sleepy.

"Angel" was ready to learn how to do hexies then but it was
so late we decided to go to bed and start again tomorrow.
You gotta just love "Brother" yawning!!!
So off to bed we all went!!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR .........our sweet visitors!
(Not Mr. Fox!)

I Know Her

 I really do know her.
Who can find a virtuous woman?
for her price is above rubies.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.  She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD,
 she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
I KNOW HER.
She thinks on what is true, noble, just, pure,
lovely, good,
virtuous, and praise worthy.
She is my daughter.

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR......Philippians 4:8

A Sweet Little Hunter

This gives a new meaning to the name "Sweet Hunter".
"Sweet Little Hunter".

This is "Brother's" first experience at hunting.
He was all dressed in camouflage ready to go but
Paw Paw wanted to paint his face.
I think "Brother" liked that!

Then "Big Sis" showed "Brother" what he was hunting for!

So there he goes to get in our little Geo!

Is he not the cutest little hunter you ever saw?

Paw Paw has him all fixed up with a back pack and a seat to sit on.

And there they go!!!
As "Brother" waved to me I wondered what he was thinking.

I know what I was thinking.
I was hoping that he wasn't disappointed when he got there and
didn't see a lot.
Hunting is kind of boring, I think.
Of course, I have never seen anything!!!

His Paw Paw is a serious hunter.
I sure was hoping that "Brother" would have fun.

When they came back we asked him if he saw a deer
and he said "No, but Gran..... I saw 2 chickens and a possum!"
Then "Sweet Hunter" (Paw paw) told us it was actually
2 turkeys and a armadillo!!!
We laughed our heads off!!!
He says he likes playing football better than hunting!
He also said riding in the golf cart was his favorite part.
And he said he was starving to death!!!
I should have packed him a snack! lol
He is by far the cutest little hunter I have ever seen though!!!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.......2 chickens & a possum!
