Friday Night Sew In At "Our Little Hilton"

What a  perfect night to have a fire and sew at "our little hilton".
(our hunting cabin)

There is nothing like smelling a wood fire.
I think this is my favorite thing about this little place.

This is my little sewing area that I have fixed up in our bedroom at the cabin.
I have been trying to make a few star blocks to help make quilts for a mother, a fiance, & a friend of their loved one that
was killed in Afghanistan.  It is such a sad story and if you would like to see all the quilt blocks that are being made,  you can go Here

I did one block at home and could not get the points to match.
So here I am trying again.
Looks pretty good before it is sewn.

Well block number #1 is ok!!! Yay!!
Not perfect, but will pass!

I thought I would do what so many quilters tell you to do and audition the fabrics.
This looks horrible.

This one looks good.  I like it.

This sure doesn't look like  a star!!!

2 blocks in progress.

Oh I really like this one!
O.K. ready to sew this one together.

Why???
Why did I move stuff around?
How did I end up with this???

Done.
One star and one.....?????
I don't have a clue!!!

One good thing....I have a pot of chicken and dumplings in the crock pot!
I will be sharing the recipe soon.
It is the best chicken and dumplings we have ever had.
Do you like my old crock pot?
Everything here at the hunting cabin is our old stuff!
I LOVE IT!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.......Heidi & Bobbi
for hosting the Friday Night Sew In!!!
It was fun!!

Prayer Request:  Please pray for my friend & crochet teacher, Polly.
She had back surgery this week. I am having a time finding out how she is.
But I know HE has it all under control.

Before We Left

Before we left to go to "Our Little Hilton" last week I went to my crochet class.
I haven't been there in about 3 weeks because of my hand hurting.
I just had to show you this picture of something one of the ladies had made.
Isn't it darling?

And a blanket to match!!!
I did crochet a little that day but my hand
is still healing and I am trying to be careful.
I just loved this little set that she crocheted.
Then on our way out we stopped by to see our "Little D" & "Brudder."
I have helped "May May" for about a week and a half but now she has it under control.
She loves being a "Mom"!
I love this stacking container.
My Mother gave it to me. It was her Mother's.
My Grandma bought this with S & H green stamps.
Do you remember those???
It sure makes it easy to carry supper to someone.

I asked my daughter what she wanted for supper and she requested
Pintos, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese & cornbread.
You can tell she grew up a country girl!!!

I always put up these pickled green tomatoes.
I got this recipe from my husbands Granny many years ago.
You can go to my Cooking Blog to get the recipe.
"May May" loves peach cobbler too!!!
You can go Here to get this easy recipe.
Hey Behki.....this recipe  is just for YOU!!!
While I was at my daughters house we whipped these up.
I took some with us to "our little hilton"!

I have made these before with Rolo's and got them from Heidi's  blog.
This time we used Hershey's kissses and I got this idea from Pinterest!
Do you pin?
One of  "May May's" friends made them with the white hersheys kisses.
I LOVED them!!!

Do you remember when I crocheted these for "May May"?
These cuddle cocoons were for our granddaugher!!!
But our granddaugher ended up being a "Brudder"
and we could not be happier.  He is perfect.
 But there is a problem.

I had started this baby boy's snuggle sack before the birth  just in case he was a boy and since he was, I really need to finish this!!

But because of this thumb pain........
BEWARE!!!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL THAT......."Brudder" passed  his hearing test!!!
The first night after our baby was born, a nurse came in at 1 a.m. in the morning
and told my daughter & son in law that their baby failed the hearing test.
Well you can imagine how they felt. But then they were suppose to
bring him back and have the test redone. She took him today and he passed!!!!
I have to tell you that the strength of my daughter & son in law was amazing.
And that made me think of one of my blogging friends, Glenda.  This family is so strong and a very loving family. This grandmother doesn't post much because she is busy helping with her grandchildren.  You can go Here  to read about their special grandbaby.
They are so blessed with 3 grands but one of them needs extra care.
This family is an example to me!
(makes my complaining seem so silly)
God Bless Mendy(the Mom) & Glenda (the grandmother) & family!!

Our Little Hilton....You Have Got To Be Kidding Me!!!

The first thing we do when we get to "Our Little Hilton"
(hunting cabin) is open up and
check everything, especially after someone broke
the window in our little tracker a few weeks ago!
Then "Sweet Hunter" goes and gets the cards out of the trail
cameras and we love to look at the pictures.
We know most of our visitors by name.
This is "Bucky"!

This is "Shirley".

This is "Bob" our Bobcat!

This is "Mary".

This is "Goofy"

This is "Baby Bop".

This is "Liza"!
***************
BUT...........we have a new visitor..........

"Sweet Hunter": Ummmmm!
"Me": What is that?
"Sweet Hunter": Uh you may not want to know.
"Me": Is that what I think it is?
"Sweet Hunter": YES!
"Me": Is that the camera that is up here at the house?
"Sweet Hunter": Uh....YES.
"ME": My hunting career is now officially over.

His name is "BEAR"!!!

Which Home Are You?

My goals in my life have always been to be a good wife, a good mother, & a good Gran!
I have joined Courtney in this challenge.
It started the first of October.

Which Home are you?

Home #1

1. The woman of the home is distant. She is pulled into her computer, television, books, or text messages and it’s hard for the family to connect with her. She wonders why no one seems to listen to her? The children don’t obey her and her husband is insensitive.

2. The woman of the home is distracted. Her calendar is very full and her daily demands are so high it’s hard for her to focus and live in the moment with her husband and children. She is often late and rushing everyone and feeling guilty about being distracted but stuck in this rut of feeling overwhelmed and too busy.

3. The woman of the home is crabby. She is short on sleep, she hasn’t had a minute alone since the 1990′s and she really can’t see a light at the end of the tunnel to get a break. She is hopeless.

4. The woman of the home is discontent. She doesn’t like her home. She doesn’t like her husband. She doesn’t like one or all of her kids. She doesn’t like her church. She doesn’t like her neighbors. Truthfully, she doesn’t even like herself.

5. The woman of the home doesn’t pray. It’s counter cultural. She’s never lived in a home with a mom who prays. She doesn’t know other moms who pray. She wants to try praying but doesn’t know where to begin so she never begins.

Home #2

1. The woman of the home is engaged. She is aware of what everyone is doing right in that moment. If a child needs help or correction – she is right there to give it. If her husband needs a hug, an encouraging word or a helping hand she is right there to care. She is playful and makes time to tickle, dance, play checkers or Wii with her family. This is a woman whose family praises her (Prov. 31:28).

2. The woman of the home is wise with her time management. She guards her family from getting so busy that they lose their connection with each other. She dissects her calendar and eliminates things that are unnecessary. She is prepared when it is time to go somewhere to alleviate the stress that comes from late minute rushing. She and her family enjoy the slow paced life she has created in her home.

3. The woman of the home has a pleasant demeanor. She does not stay up late watching television, reading, surfing the web or working. She goes to sleep at a reasonable hour so she can wake cheerfully for her family. She knows that some seasons of life are harder than others so she is patient with her season of life and is confident that she will reap what she has sown. She works diligently trusting God with the results of her labor.

4. The woman of the home is content. She knows that no home, husband, child, church or neighborhood is perfect. So she chooses to be content with what God has given her for today.

5. The woman of the home prays. She knows that she is weak but God is strong and that she cannot fulfil the role of wife, mother, homemaker and sometimes employee, on her own strength. She is completely dependent on God and practices this dependence by daily praying for all of these things.

I know which home I strive to be.
I want to be a "Proverbs 14:1 woman.
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

My Feelings

Do you ever feel like this?
Tired & worn out.
Just blah feeling.
I didn't find the joy I used to have in sewing, crocheting, blogging, etc.
I called my daughters and told them that I was
even thinking of changing my toe nail polish color!!!
They knew then there was a problem. (smile)
I told "sweet hunter" that I was thinking of getting a dog!
I figured he would say no but he said to do whatever I wanted.
I didn't understand my feelings because I am so blessed.
I have a wonderful husband. Great children. Great Grands. Lots of friends.
But I could not shake that feeling which is so unlike me.

I would have been happy to feel like this plant looks.
But I didn't.
One morning I was home all by myself.
I decided to make some cookies.
I love to cook but didn't even have that desire but did it anyway.
Then I checked my facebook and one of my favorite Christian Women sites
posted this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy68YXttAvw
She said as she was on her treadmill that she was listening to this
so as I baked my cookies I turned this up and realized that
the Lord was talking to me.  This youtube is about 36 min. long and most
of you probably won't listen but it was so worth me slowing down to hear
this message.
When you have time, listen to this message.
You will be paid for your time especially if you feel like that first picture.

After listening to this message I realized that my problem was that I am not in the word
like I should be.  I am not on my knees as much as I could be. I was actually not suppose to
be home that morning but my plans were changed.  I didn't like my plans being changed for me
that morning but now I realize that I needed to spend some quiet time with the Lord.
I needed to BE STILL AND KNOW.

Me & the Lord spent some quiet time together in my home.
Just me & him.
I guess you could say it was a pity party but it was real to me.
Since I have seen where I can move up, I realize that I need to stay in the word
and stay in prayer. It really does make a difference.
I think sometimes we just take things for granted.
Then this little miracle was born a week early.
Oh how blessed we are.
This is our 5th grandchild.
What a gift to our family.
The gift of life.
**************
TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR .....changed plans.

There is a reason for everything. Little did I know when "my" plans changed
that "HE" had "HIS" own plans for me. And how did I know that a Christian woman named Courtney that
I admire would tell on facebook that while riding her treadmill she listened to this.
And little did I know, that I would take the time to listen to it. It even started out slow and I didn't
think I would like it but it was just for me.
"HE" had made those plans for me.
DO YOU EVER HAVE THOSE DAYS?
