Friday Night Sew In At "Our Little Hilton"

What a  perfect night to have a fire and sew at "our little hilton".
(our hunting cabin)

There is nothing like smelling a wood fire.
I think this is my favorite thing about this little place.

This is my little sewing area that I have fixed up in our bedroom at the cabin.
I have been trying to make a few star blocks to help make quilts for a mother, a fiance, & a friend of their loved one that
was killed in Afghanistan.  It is such a sad story and if you would like to see all the quilt blocks that are being made,  you can go Here

I did one block at home and could not get the points to match.
So here I am trying again.
Looks pretty good before it is sewn.

Well block number #1 is ok!!! Yay!!
Not perfect, but will pass!

I thought I would do what so many quilters tell you to do and audition the fabrics.
This looks horrible.

This one looks good.  I like it.

This sure doesn't look like  a star!!!

2 blocks in progress.

Oh I really like this one!
O.K. ready to sew this one together.

Why???
Why did I move stuff around?
How did I end up with this???

Done.
One star and one.....?????
I don't have a clue!!!

One good thing....I have a pot of chicken and dumplings in the crock pot!
I will be sharing the recipe soon.
It is the best chicken and dumplings we have ever had.
Do you like my old crock pot?
Everything here at the hunting cabin is our old stuff!
I LOVE IT!

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR.......Heidi & Bobbi
for hosting the Friday Night Sew In!!!
It was fun!!

Prayer Request:  Please pray for my friend & crochet teacher, Polly.
She had back surgery this week. I am having a time finding out how she is.
But I know HE has it all under control.

Great project for FNSI, Val. I have been working on my stars today too.

I could not remark about the gorgeous crochet set in your last post, but it really was a wonderful gift. I hope you will soon be back to working on your crochet as well.

LOVE a wood fire, yep, that would be my favorite spot! Good job on fixing up a sewing area, girl, your star block came out wonderfully - so glad I'm not the only one who does an "oops" too, lol, if at first you don't succeed, try try again! I do think the way it turned out has a name though, it's a legitimate block, so hang onto it.
Wish I could come for dinner, yum...praying for Polly!

So sad for the families....,,,

I can never get points to match, I like the first star you made. I like your cabin, I think I could live there all the time. Blessings to you and your loved ones, bet the baby is growing already!

Hey! One of my crock pots look just like yours, and that is probably my newest one! LOL! The one I use the most is a West Bend. The pot is metal and teflon lined with a glass lid. Orange. Now, that should take you back!

Your blocks look great. Is that 401 that one that came from Iowa?

Have fun at your little Hilton!

Awe...you touch my heart! To see you work in progress on the blocks made me tear up. I am amazed how my fellow comrades in quilting have held me up and have come through for me in this difficult time. Thank you soooo much! A big hug and love from Nashville Tennessee!

Hi Val, Wish we all had our own Little Hilton to run away to. Sounds so cozy. Love the star quilt block. Great job. Dumplings is Mr. P's favorite. I hate making them because I hate making up the dough. Love your header picture. Have a fun weekend with your daughter.

Hi Val....Oh...how cozy that fire looks! Nice and comfy! Your star guilt blocks are coming along nicely. I know you are enjoying yourself. Seems like you have "all the comforts of home" at the "Hilton". Glad you are enjoying yourselves. Take care of that hand.

O VAl, what a lovely visit! I love all of the blocks- they are just like children - all so different and so unique and enjoyable. They seem to have a life of their own - like the time spent while you were creating them took on a part of you.

I LOVE your little stove at the Little Hilton! Is it old too?

I LOVE that you even have a sewing room at your cabin. I think both of the squares look great. Even the "not star" one.
