Another Quilt DONE!

My second completely finished quilt!

A gift of Love

This pillow was made just for me!!!

The title of this post sounds as though I have made a lot of quilts, but actually this is only my second quilt completely finished. I have several different quilts started, but to finish one is amazing to me. My first finished quilt, I gave to my "sweet honey." We actually sleep with it on our bed every night. I am just a beginner and have a lot to learn, but I love it. I put the binding on this quilt (see picture above) today and it is finished. It is one that I did with Amanda Jean's Quilt Along! She is a great teacher. I have the "star quilt along" started with her also. After I finished the quilt today, I gave it to my "sweet son". I told him that this was a true labor of love. A quilt takes many hours and a lot of work. As my "sweet Granny" says, "you just have to be a quilter to understand the love of it." My plans are to make each one of my children and grandchildren a quilt one day. As I make each quilt, I hope to get better with experience. I had so much fun sewing today. I also made a neck pillow for myself just like I made for Darla and My Sweet Mom! When I made their pillows, I went ahead and cut out several from the same fabric so all I had to do was sew it and fill it. My "sweet honey" helped me pour the buckwheat hulls in the pillow. It was a great day! I wonder what my next project will be........whatever it is, I know I will love it.

Congratulations on your completed quilt! It looks awesome.

Here's hoping for many many more quilts, and while you are making your quilts, I hope you love every minute and every stitch.

Blessings,

Hi Valerie,
The quilt is beautiful and I love your use of the browns....very, very masculine but very lovely.

Our daughter in-law quilts as well so I can appreciate the time and LOVE put into them.

Absolutely love the new quilt! Good Job. I collect quilts but I have never made one myself. I think you should be very proud of yourself. A quilt for each of your family would be an awesome keepsake from you. God's blessings and keep on quilting.

Congratulations, Valerie. I have been reading your blog for awhile and really enjoy it. We are around the same age and I am a newbie to quilting also. I got really inspired by your siggy swap that I went over to Connie's blog and signed up for #2. You made it sound like so much fun that I knew I could commit too! Great quilt for your son!
