There is a difference in a house and a home.
I have always told my husband that we can make a home anywhere.
To me a home is in our hearts. A house is where we live.
A house can be made into a home. It only takes tender loving care.
I love my home.
I love springtime. It is just like everything is coming alive.
Can you see the creek down below this dogwood?
This is behind our house and when you are sitting on the screened in porch or the deck you can hear the creek running. Nothing sounds so good and peaceful.
I was sitting on my porch the other morning and I had been hearing some noises down in the woods but just thought it was squirrels. All of the sudden I hear a "Gobble"! I knew then I had turkeys down at the creek. I took this picture trying to capture them but they don't show up.
There was a Jake, Tom and a hen. I think it is so funny that my hubby goes all these different places to turkey hunt and I sit on the porch and can actually hear and see them!
The bradford pear trees are just about through blooming and are turning green. They are lined up our front driveway. But just look at this plum tree. Isn't it beautiful?
Stay, stay at home, my heart, and rest;
Home-keeping hearts are happiest,
For those that wander they know not where
Are full of trouble and full of care;
To stay at home is best.
Weary and homesick and distressed,
They wander east, they wander west
And are baffled and beaten and blown about
By the winds of the wilderness of doubt;
To stay at home is best.
Then stay at home, my heart, and rest;
The bird is safest in its nest;
O'er all that flutter their wings and fly
A hawk is hovering in the sky;
To stay at home is best.
Longfellow (Song)

Valerie, your home is lovely. The trees are so beautiful. I know you must enjoy them this time of year.
Your home looks like a place of peace.
I can't believe how much land is around your house...and the trees, love them!
We're lucky to have a small yard to walk around in, in California.
Your home is beautiful, Valerie.
Oh sweetie your home is so beautiful! I love home so much - love the Longfellow poem, it speaks to me. I wish I had a home, instead of just a house. But I do know my Lord is building me one....
I loved that poem, just in time to prepare for a lovely weekend at home.
I found your blog via the CWO blogroll. I am so glad that I stopped in. What a lovely blog...I could visit here for hours. You are so inspirational! I have fallen in love with Granny! My Mom was 'Granny', & I miss her so much. She too made beautiful quilts, & inspired everyone with her faith. I love your home - you are so right - a home is different from a house. Thank you for sharing your blog. Hugs!
You have a lovely home in a very beautiful spot.
Karen
I love the words by Longfellow at the end of the post with the pictures of your beautiful trees. I have been contemplating the "stay at home" theme all week, lovely and peaceful. I hope your life and heart are as peaceful as your pictures! Bless you~
Home...lovely place isn't it?
So pretty...and calming!
Valerie,
I can see how you would find great peace there. Your home is lovely and what a blessing to have so much evidence of God's presence. I love the outdoors and I think I would probably spend a lot of time in your screened-in porch just listening to all the sounds of God's creation. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Morning Val, I think this is the first I've seen the outside of your home and how beautiful...and the setting around it is awesome and so peaceful.
I can only imagine the love that flows through your home....it shows in your words that you share with us daily.
Karen
A very lovely setting.
You sound like me. Every time I see a sign that reads, "HOME FOR SALE", I say to Honey Bear, you can't sale a home and you can't by one. A home is made by the love and care of the people who live there.
Blessings,
Mama Bear

I have a very peaceful feeling imagining you sitting outside and listening to the sounds of nature. Your home is lovely.

It must be just lovely to have a back yard like you have! I put in a little water garden beside the deck so I can hear the water when I'm out there. I love it! :0)
Hi Valerie:
I just jumped over here from another blog for a visit. I've enjoyed spending a few minutes reading your posts, especially the lovely home and the posting about Granny. Granny's just hit a chord with most of us, and fill us with so many memories.
Thanks for sharing!
Blessings.
Sonja
Val I love your home too. It really is beautiful. I love all your trees.
Your home must look and feel heavenly in spring! Lovely photos!
I've lived in many houses and will probably live in a few more before I go to the final home that is being prepared for me. Yet, each house (no matter how small or large) has been "home" to our family. If my family is there, it's home. So, I agree with you about that for sure!
O Valerie!
Truely Loved your post. The pictures are beautiful and the music was the kind that soothes your soul.
The snippet was so like me! I always said I loved HOME more than anybody I knew and your sonnet just nailed it on the head for the way I feel about home.
I loved your turkey pictures - I really can see them . I am always telling my husband that I see animals everywhere that he cannot and he said for somebody that has bad eyes -they sure can see good. I get tickled and tell him -well - we are dealing with Animals ! :)
Hi my special friend,
Your home is beautiful and your yard...breathtaking. You are so beautiful in your heart and I know that you certainly give your home tender loving care because that is who you are Valerie...one who loves so deeply and cares so deeply for all.
Love you and my prayers are with you always my friend,
Alleluiabelle
Val,
I wish I was sittin on the porch with you! I was at my Aunts over easter and she lives out in the country in the hills of W.Va. I told her I wish I could just live on her wrap around porch! The deer come right up to her back door. She is so blessed. I love spring when everything comes to life again!
I love your pictures! Your house and yard are beautiful!
You have a beautiful home. It looks similar to one I've always admired in Blairsville.
