My Second Chicken Scratch Project

Warning:  This is only my second chicken scratch project so don't get too excited.
The other problem was I couldn't find a butterfly pattern for chicken scratching  so
I found an outline of a butterfly on the internet and just hung this fabric right up
on my laptop and traced it and made my own pattern!!!
I guess you could say that I made my own light box!!! lol

I went to hobby lobby and used my 40% off coupon and
bought this little bitty light and it sure does make a difference.

So I thought and thought and tried to figure out where to start and
then I remember about starting with the outline.

So that is what I did.  I found the neatest crochet yarn in my Grandma's old sewing basket
and it was perfect for this project.  So I am dedicating this butterfly to my
Grandma Cochran who is in heaven.

I had to put my thinking cap on since I didn't have any directions.
You will see that I have made several mistakes but you know what???
It's ok.

I worked on this every chance I got.
I work mostly in the car while riding because I don't sit down at home.
The last long trip we went on I set me up an area in the back seat and had
a ball crocheting &  doing chicken scratch!
Yes, the back seat. There are several reasons why I sit
in the back seat on long trips.
1. Sweet Hunter freezes me out.
2. He listens to sports talk the whole way.
3. I can set up a little craft area right in the back seat and I am a happy camper!
Before I show you this finished project I wanted to tell you that I finished 13 dish cloths this month for  Christmas Through The Year With Allie!
This is just a few of them!
I am also joining up with Peg & Kris for OPAM!

Drum Roll please........

What do you think?  Yes, one wing is bigger than the other but ....oh well.
I had a ball. I got lots of experience and learned from my mistakes.
I LOVE it if I say so myself!  I will make this into a pillow to match my Hummingbird pillow
I have already started my third chicken scratch project.  I am working it on larger squares and found out it is a lot easier.  I am following a pattern on my 3rd project but may add a few additions.
I am having way too much fun!!!

"Happiness is like a butterfly.

The more you chase it the more it eludes you.
But if you turn your attention to other things it comes and sits softly on your shoulder"

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR...... HAPPINESS!

I must say that I read blogs on my phone now and that commenting is a challenge, but I read and enjoy every post! You are so upbeat and encouraging! Having a bridal shower at my house on Thursday and will use Granny's quilt for the younger girls to sit on! You should start a series of Granny's quilts in action! Thanks so much for your upbeat attitude and obvious joy that you take from life! Inspiring me every time!

I haven't done chicken scratch in years but I'm loving yours! And I'm loving the dish cloth you sent me. :) What a great idea to sit in the back seat....but then I'd have to give up my seat warmers and I couldn't do that. Sometimes I have to use them in the summer when Jerry gets it too cold for me! blessings, marlene

Val, Love the butterfly. You did great and no pattern? I have to have a pattern for everything. Can't wait to see the pillow. Love the white discloths. I have shared my discloths with so many friends and they all want more. Our Wal-mart is remodeling AGAIN and I am waiting on them to get in more thread. Can't wait to get a stash made up for the ladies at church for little Christmas gifts. Have a great day.

BEAUTIFUL Val!!!!! You did a wonderful job! Laptop as lightbox, hm, I'll have to try that - it would be SO much easier, lol. I love your dishcloths too!

I love that you have your own private chauffeur, I think it's marvelous!

Your chicken scratch looks great.

I've received three suspicious looking emails from you today. Wonder if you have a virus? They just say from Val and your last name.

O VAL!
If only I could sit in the back seat without "barfing all over the place".
That would really make a trip far less boring. : )

I LOVE your chicken scratching! Anybody would love your hard work. Wonder what you will come up with next?
LOL

Congrats. on your dish clothes! Those are awesome!
