Biscuit Day

I started making my biscuits once a month and freezing them
way back when I had 4 children at home
.
It saves time when in a hurry or on days when you just don't want
to cook. And I still make about 50 at a time and freeze.
I place my biscuits on cookie sheets and set them in my freezer to flash freeze them.

Then I place in Ziploc bags and just get out what I need.
This works great for me!

Then just cook as you normally would.
I love it because "Sweet Hunter" can get up on Saturdays
and make homemade biscuits the easy way!

Basic Biscuit Recipe
(I use White Lily Self Rising Flour)
2 C.  self-rising flour
1/4 cup butter or shortening.
 2/3 to 3/4 cups buttermilk

Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
Measure flour into bowl. Cut in butter or shortening until mixtures resembles coarse crumbs. Blend in enough buttermilk until dough leaves sides of bowl. Knead gently 2 or 3 times on lightly floured surface. Cut or roll into biscuits. (I roll mine)
Place on pan with biscuits touching.
 Brush tops with melted butter.
Bake at 500 degrees until brown.

Good idea Val - Never thought of doing up biscuits but I do up my bacon and freeze it. Just cook an egg, heat up the bacon and voila - instant breaky! Would even be better with a homemade biscuit.

I confess I don't think I've ever made homemade biscuits except the Bisquick kind. :) But I'm going to pin your recipe Val and maybe (If I ever get off this diet!) I'll be trying those. blessings, marlene

What a great idea! I need to try this. I also need to buy a freezer so I can store them. My freezer is always full.

I'm not sure my other comment took but I hope I'm not duplicating. This is a great idea and one I need to try!

I was looking back through things i wanted to try and found this recipe. Just a question, do you thaw them before you bake?

I had to laugh at you saying you make up your Bisquits and put them in the freezer. That is a family giggle with us cause my Mother does it. Actually she likes to freeze everything. You mention something you would like to have and she says "Oh I have some in the freezer". We all giggle at it and say stuff off the wall. lol
