Riding Around The Farm

Since we bought the farm, we haven't even had time to
ride around the land much at all.

So we hopped in the gator and went for a long ride.
Sweet Hunter was looking for deer and turkey signs
and I was looking for flowers!

This is just one tree!

I thought the sky was just gorgeous!

These are purple.
Not sure if you can see them good.

Fields full of these!

This is on the back side of the land.
You can clearly see a deer trail to the river.

Here is a closer look!
Sweet Hunter is excited!

Along the banks of the river is lots and lots of cane growing.

This is my very favorite!
We have lots of this!
Looks just like a face in the middle.
I was told this was Passion Flower!

the stones would immediately cry out.

Farm Babies

We haven't got any animals yet but hopefully next year we will have chickens, goats & horses.  I also have plans to get a calf and raise it. We have done that before.
Great memories. "Sweet Hunter" said I can get anything I want except a pig or rabbits!
Hmmmmmm!
They are on my lists too!!! lol
I cannot wait! But for now.......

We have this one fat fluffy hummer that just sits and protects one of the feeders.
I am a member of a Hummingbird group on facebook so I posted pics to ask them if she
was sick or something. She can fly but mainly sits. After all the comments, I have learned that
she is a baby.  Her beak is short and she just doesn't know what to do yet. I am just so glad she is ok.
Today is the second day she has sat on this feeder all day.
Amazing what you can learn when you ask questions.
We have counted 11 at one time at the feeders!

This is a soft shell turtle that one of the Grandkids caught out of the river!
We heard that they taste really good!
Don't know if I will be finding out!
(smile)

This is several of many of the dolls we found around the farm!
The lady that used to live there collected dolls along with many, many other things.
They left most of it and we are having to clean it all out.
We have sold a lot and of course I kept some of the things I love.

We have been so very excited about what all we are seeing on our trail cameras!
One thing we have been waiting to see is a little baby!!!
And here is Mom & baby!!!!
So cute!

And we have lots and lots of veges from our garden at the farm!
My freezer is in storage so I am having to borrow freezers to put my
stuff in!  I think I am going to can these beans tomorrow.
I have got 3- 5 gallon buckets of green beans from my first row!
I have 4 more rows to go!!!

This is something else we've been waiting to see on our trail cameras!
Today we counted 14 turkeys!
So excited!
This is our youngest grandson.
When we first got the farmhouse he stayed with us a couple of weeks
and this is where he chose to take his nap one afternoon.
Nothing like a swing on the farm!

This is an ultrasound of our new grandbaby that is due Sept. 4!
We are more than excited to welcome our 6th grandbaby into our world!
Isn't he beautiful?
He's already smiling!
We are so looking forward to this little baby joining us
at the farm!
Please keep mother and baby in your prayers!

Around The Farm!

The Farmhouse doesn't look any different from the outside yet, but
a lot is going on inside. We had to replace lots of floor joist and seals.
I hate that because its things you can't see. We should be finishing up the tearing out
in the next couple of weeks and start putting it all back together hopefully!
If you would like to see my first post about the farmhouse,

Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE birds!
I have my feeders up but this about the only visitors I have.
Birds are everywhere but they just don't take the time to stop at my feeders
for some reason. I am hoping when all the carpenters leave, that will change.
There is just a lot going on right now.

One of the first things I did was put out my hummingbird feeders.
I had 2 right from the beginning.

Then before I knew it, I had 3 visitors!

Then I counted 8!
I was so excited!

The last count was 10!!!
I just can't believe it!

The river is right across from where the house is sitting.
You can actually sit on the porch and see it.

It is just gorgeous!
This is one reason we fell in love with this place!

Right down below the house is a huge flat rock.
That's where I am standing to take these pictures.
It's my favorite place on the river!

We are really enjoying our garden.
Nothing like a tomato sandwich
with a "real" tomato!!!

I can't wait until next year when I will actually be living on the farm.
Then I can get up early, work in the garden, and then go fishing!!!
Did I tell you that I have a fig tree?
So very excited!

And we have deer!!!!
So excited!!!!

My farmhouse Garden

When we bought the farmhouse the seller had already planted a garden
but grass had over taken it.
This is not the gardener tilling.......I'm the gardener and he is the "sweet hunter"!
But we just bought that tiller so he wanted to try it out!
He hasn't tilled since this day!!! lol

After a lot of work and replanting, this is when it started looking better!
This garden space has been used for years so the dirt is great!
This is about the only thing I left that he had planted.....green beans!
I always have planted bush beans and these are white half runners!
So I put some fence posts in with my Son In Law, "Uncle B's" help.
Then I tied some string off for them to grow on.
They don't look like this now. They have grown so much that I don't know
how I am going to pick them.
(forgot to take pic!)
My first little tomato a few weeks ago!

My first little squash!

Zucchini!

I just love having fresh vegetables.

Fried is my favorite but grilled is wonderful too!

My first green beans!!!
I sure am dreading picking them though.

The seller planted several eggplants.
The plants look rough to me but it has 2 eggplants growing on it!

My tomatoes are just starting to turn red!
I am so excited!
I cannot wait to eat a good tomato sandwich which should be this week!
When we first bought the farmhouse and saw the garden, it was so big.
I thought I could get it all planted but with everything else I am working on,
I decided  to give "sweet hunter" a surprise!
He loves sunflower seeds.
So instead of a row like I used to do, I planted him a field!!!
I can't wait to see them bloomed!

I can't begin to tell you what all we have done to this place.
I hope to blog updates soon.
Let me just say this, we started from the ground up!
We are so hoping to have the inside finished by September.
We will see!
Nevertheless, this farmhouse is "our" dream!!!!
