My Second Chicken Scratch Project

Warning:  This is only my second chicken scratch project so don't get too excited.
The other problem was I couldn't find a butterfly pattern for chicken scratching  so
I found an outline of a butterfly on the internet and just hung this fabric right up
on my laptop and traced it and made my own pattern!!!
I guess you could say that I made my own light box!!! lol

I went to hobby lobby and used my 40% off coupon and
bought this little bitty light and it sure does make a difference.

So I thought and thought and tried to figure out where to start and
then I remember about starting with the outline.

So that is what I did.  I found the neatest crochet yarn in my Grandma's old sewing basket
and it was perfect for this project.  So I am dedicating this butterfly to my
Grandma Cochran who is in heaven.

I had to put my thinking cap on since I didn't have any directions.
You will see that I have made several mistakes but you know what???
It's ok.

I worked on this every chance I got.
I work mostly in the car while riding because I don't sit down at home.
The last long trip we went on I set me up an area in the back seat and had
a ball crocheting &  doing chicken scratch!
Yes, the back seat. There are several reasons why I sit
in the back seat on long trips.
1. Sweet Hunter freezes me out.
2. He listens to sports talk the whole way.
3. I can set up a little craft area right in the back seat and I am a happy camper!
Before I show you this finished project I wanted to tell you that I finished 13 dish cloths this month for  Christmas Through The Year With Allie!
This is just a few of them!
I am also joining up with Peg & Kris for OPAM!

Drum Roll please........

What do you think?  Yes, one wing is bigger than the other but ....oh well.
I had a ball. I got lots of experience and learned from my mistakes.
I LOVE it if I say so myself!  I will make this into a pillow to match my Hummingbird pillow
I have already started my third chicken scratch project.  I am working it on larger squares and found out it is a lot easier.  I am following a pattern on my 3rd project but may add a few additions.
I am having way too much fun!!!

"Happiness is like a butterfly.

The more you chase it the more it eludes you.
But if you turn your attention to other things it comes and sits softly on your shoulder"

TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR...... HAPPINESS!

And Life Goes On....

Mom & Dad are still in charge of the care and protection of these little ones!

Look how peaceful they look.
It reminds me of young children when they don't have a care in the world.

The parents have all they worry and work.
They are constantly watching out for something that might hurt their babies.

They teach their babies how to feed themselves and be independant.
I was watching the geese and the babies this morning and I noticed
that they do not force them to eat. They don't go behind them nudging them all the time.
 They just lead by example.
When they were first born they fed them.  Now they just have the faith that
the babies will follow them and learn.

Soon they will become teenagers and think they know it all. (lol)
Then one day it will be time to push them out of the nest to see if they can make it on their own.
No matter what. Once they are out of the nest the parents go on with their own lives.
Maybe we need to take lessons from these geese!
Love them with all your heart but know that they have to make their own mistakes
just like we did.
And life goes on......

TODAY I AM THANK FOR............serenity.

The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity

to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him

Forever in the next.
Amen.

Friday Fun!!!

Snowball or Hydrangea?
Which is it?
We have had this plant for several years and this is the best
bloom it has ever had.  I didn't even realize there was a grandaddy long legs
on it when I took this picture!

This is the milkweed that our best friends gave us.
I LOVE the close up picture of the blooms!

I love the simplicity of this flower.

I am so proud of my dahlia this year.
My Mom gave me this last year and I had
it in containers. This year I replanted it in my flower garden.
It sure is looking pretty healthy so far!

Don't ask me why.  I just love to take weird pictures.
This is the back of the dahlia!
I just thought it was beautiful.

After the rain....

Look at my baby chick!!! Do you see her? She is peeking her head out!
I actually have several.
Jackie sent me these.
I just love them.  She said I must be doing ok if they already have chicks!
I didn't realize all the dirt on this pot until I saw this picture.
I had just repotted these!
Aren't they cute???

And more strawberries.......... I am so excited!

I am linking up with Tootsie & Cottage Flora!!!

Today I am thankful for.....learning to "Let go & Let God."
(notice I said learning).

To all my blogging sisters.....
Blogger is still not letting me leave comments.
I was able to leave one today.  I will be glad when they get it fixed.
Just know I am visiting.
Edit:  My blogging sister Mildred told me to uncheck where it says to keep me signed in.
I did. So far, so good. I have left several comments!
Thanks Mildred!

Hide & Seek

I found a box over at the side of my front door a couple of days ago.
I just thought "Sweet Hunter" had put something out for the mailman.
Boy was I wrong! When he came in from work he gave me the package and
said it was for ME!!

Look at all of these goodies that I recieved from Angela!
This was the nicest surprise ever!
There is a little crocheted soap pocket for a bar of soap,
some prim magnets that she made herself and the cutest little journal book.

Angela said she thought I could make one of these!
I would love too! This is the cutest thing ever.

Look at these magnets!  I just love them.
I haven't even got to open them yet because
we were leaving right when I received all these sweet gifts.
Thank you so much Angela!
You would never know this but this came right on time.
I have been tested this week and was feeling pretty weak.
This sweet gift reminded me that I am not alone and that
someone was thinking of me.  Thank you!

This picture came right in time too!
I was riding down the road thinking of a trial that we are facing when my phone beeped.
I just had to show you this. This is my 2 year old grandson "Little D"!
May May sent this picture to me today with a note saying.
This is "Little D" playing Hide and Seek!
I laughed so hard at this cute picture.
I guess he thinks since he can't see, that his Mom can't see him either!
I LOVE it!
Today I am thankful for.............
blessings that are right on time!

*Blogger is acting up again. There are certain blogs that I cannot leave comments on.
I am visiting though.  I hope they get it fixed soon!

May May looks like she is being sneaky too!

Look what "Little D & Angel" found!!!
A snake skin!'
I am sure it is the snake I want to kill.

"The Honeymooners" had to leave and get milk!
I had everything planned for the homemade icecream and forgot the milk!!!

Well I have to blame this one on Mildred!
She is the reason I bought a watermelon!

Yum!

Come & Get it!!!

These girls already knew what they were going to do.
I told you they looked like something was up.

Ready, Set, Go!!!!

"Little D" is wondering if Mommy is ok!

I guess he is not worried anymore!
"Little D".......Don't hurt the little baby!

Trouble is serious!
You ought to see her play monopoly.
She  is very serious!!
