Our Wedding Day! 30 years ago

Sealed With A Kiss

Cutting the Wedding Cake!

Our Parents

Our Grandparents

My Sweet Mom

We celebrated our 30th anniversary by going out to eat at one of our favorite places. This is my dream guy to be married to. He still opens doors for me. He always puts me first. I just love him so. Isn't my "Sweet Mother" just beautiful? She is beautiful inside and out. She did our whole wedding at her house. She even made our wedding cake. She is an amazing woman! In the picture with our grandparents, there is only 1 of them still alive--"My Sweet Granny." We have 4 children, 3 grandchildren, and a grandson due in Dec.! We are so blessed! We hope to have many more years together.

Work, Work, Work & A Little Quilting!

Labor day Weekend is truly labor for us! All we did was work yesterday. I worked in the garden and "My Sweet Honey" pressure washed everything in sight! We are pooped! I did get in a little quilting last night though, which I enjoyed so much. I am ashamed to tell you that this is the first quilt I ever made and I have never finished it, so I have decided before I start anymore projects, this quilt is going to be finished. My best friend and I made our first quilts at the same time 20 years ago. She finished hers way back then. Mine, has just sat until now. It will be finished before you know it though, because I am determined. Look at all the peas I got out of my garden. How do you like my gourds? I only have 3 so far that are ready to hang and dry, but I have more that are still in the garden. I guess after church this morning I will be shelling peas! I love gardening almost as much as I do quilting! I hope you all have a Blessed Lord's day today!

Thankful For Another Busy Day

I knew today was going to be a busy day. We have had rain for a couple of days, so my garden needed picking very badly. I had several tomato plants that had blew over with the storm. So first thing this morning, I put my overalls and rubber boots on and headed to the garden. I had to stake the tomato plants back up and then I started picking vegetables. It was so muddy in places, that I actually had to take my hands and pull my boots up out of the mud. But that didn't stop me. I got everything picked except my peas. Some of my gourds are ready too. I will be working on that tomorrow morning. Then I came in the house and got cleaned up. Then I started a pot of My Mom's potato soup for my "Sweet sister in law"! They are going to the lake this weekend and this was our way of saying thank you for us getting to stay at their lake house last weekend. I picked up some cornbread muffins from the Cracker Barrel to go with the soup. I had a pecan pie in the freezer for their dessert. I also fixed her a basket of garden vegetables for her to take with them. She loves to cook so I knew she would enjoy this. Then, I went and had lunch with my "Sweet grandaughter, Alyssa" at her school. She is so sweet. When I drove up to the school, I saw my 5 yr. old "Sweet grandson, Brett" standing on the playground, but he was against the chain link fence. I walked over to see him and found out he was in trouble! His teacher said he has a problem interupting her. I could tell he wanted to go with me, but he was a big boy! I told him to be good. He was so cute. After delivering the food to my sister in law, I came home and started on my vegetables. I made some vegetable soup for our supper and then I froze all the other veges I had picked. My "Sweet Honey" had been over in the mountains today, so he brought home some apples and fried apple pies. They were so good! It was a very full day, but I am so thankful!

"Our" Weekend

We had the best little weekend trip I guess I have ever been on! I was not crazy about going because I had so much to do and didn't feel good, but then my Mom kept encouraging me to go and have a good time. Then I received the sweetest e-mail from my good friend, Connie. She told me go and make this weekend "mine"! I really thought about that. I am so used to constantly taking care of others, that I wasn't sure I knew how to do that. But evidently, my "Sweet Honey", had this in mind also. We normally just wear ourselves out fishing. We normally get up early & fish and go back out at night & fish. Don't get me wrong, I love fishing. But for some reason this time, I just wanted to rest and have peace. And that is what we did. Friday night, we went out fishing and I caught the biggest for the weekend that night, but someone didn't get the camera in time before it broke the line. So needless to say there is no picture of it! It was a 3 pound smallmouth. I was so proud! As a matter of fact there are no pictures of any fish, except a little one. We caught lots of bluegill but no big ones. But its ok. On Saturday, we slept in late, which is unheard of at my house. Then we took a ride in the boat. It was so relaxing and peaceful. We found my aunt and uncles lakehouse that I have never been to. They weren't there, but now we know, so we can visit them. We also found the Blog Cabin on DIY. It is gorgeous! I took several pictures of it as you can see. Then we went out to eat and came back and just relaxed. Sunday morning, we got up early and fished a while and then went back to the house and rested the rest of the day. We knew it was getting late, but we both didn't want to leave so about 8 p.m. my "sweet honey" said, lets just stay another night. I was all for that! So we came back this morning. We didn't want to leave then, but we knew we needed to. We are so blessed to have this place to stay. It is my husbands brother & his wifes lake house. They are so sweet to share it with us. It is so nice and so peaceful. I took pictures of a few little treasures in her house. We both just loved this weekend. They have 7 or 8 hummingbirds that visit their porch. I tried to get pictures but they didn't turn out too good. But you would have to see it to believe it. I could never get a picture with all of them, but they actually flutter all around the feeder all at once. The last weekend that they went, she told me how much she enjoyed just sitting and watching them. So did I. My "sweet sister in law" called this afternoon to see if we had enjoyed it. She said they prayed for us on Saturday that we would have a great time. Well, we felt those prayers. I have never been so relaxed. And yes, I made it "my" weekend! I loved it!

Going to the Lake

We are leaving tomorrow to go to the lake! My Sweet daughter is doing better from her surgery and has went home now. I already miss her! We went to the Dr. today and he said it will be at least 2 months before she is back to normal again. But she is doing well. By the time she is over this foot surgery, she will be getting the other one done. Thanks for all the emails and prayers for her. Anyway, we are heading off to the lake for the weekend for a little break. We love to fish, so that is what we will be doing if the weather cooperates. We are so blessed to have a place to stay, because my Sweet honey's brother has a place which is where our boat is. I am sure that I will be taking lots of pictures! Imagine that! So I will be offline a couple of days. Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Birthday To My Love

This man is the absolute, love of my life! It is his birthday today. He is my protector, provider, my natural & spiritual leader, and my love! I have to tell you this funny story though. He went to eat lunch the other day and he called me and said he got his first senior discount! The funny thing is he is only 54 years old. He said they didn't even ask him. He went to the table and looked at his ticket to see why it was cheaper and saw that he got a 2.00 senior discount. We had a good laugh over that! Happy Birthday, Randy!

An Example of My Day!

I decided to wash my car. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the hall table. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trash can under the table, and notice that the trash can is full.

So I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take out my checkbook that is on the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the den, so I go to my desk where I find the bottle of soda that I had been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the soda aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I see that the soda is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the soda, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need to be watered. I set the soda down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, we will be looking for the remote, but nobody will remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day, the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm bottle of soda sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I 'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail.

Garden Blessings -Contentment- Listening

Blessings from my garden today!

I got up at daylight and went down to my garden. I love working in my garden in the cool of the morning. I love the quite time. I use this time to talk to the Lord. It is a special time for me. I get to listen. Sometimes I hear from HIM. Sometimes I just talk to HIM. As I worked & picked from my garden, I feel so content. It is just so peaceful. It is a time that I can get away from the problems we deal with everyday and just listen. Everyone has something to deal with. My son n' law, Cory is a preacher and he came in talking about a sermon that the Lord gave him about how the Lord speaks in the darkness. So, when we have our negatives happen in our life and everyone has them, we really need to listen. That is why I love my garden and my quite time. I can listen. I love it! What would I do without my Lord?

By the way, 7 Day Refrigerator Sweet Pickles are done!

Surprise! Boy or Girl?

We went with our "Sweet Baby Daughter" this morning to the doctor to see what our new grandbaby was going to be. We got to see the ultrasound. We got to see its little face, arms, legs, ears, fingers, toes, heart, brain, and one more very important detail.................IT'S A BOY!

We were so honored to be asked to be there. It was so exciting! It was the little Mommy & Daddy, of course, along with Gran (me) & Papaw & Aunt Maranda(Big Sis)- (Notice Big Sis's pink flip flop (in case of a girl) & blue shorts (in case of a boy)! The baby actually smiled in one of the pictures. It was amazing! He is due December 28th! We are so excited!

The Doctor's Visit

My "Sweet Daughter" had her first check up this morning, since her surgery. It was rough getting her there since this was our first time out. This doctor is a great doctor, but is all business. He doesn't do any small talk. We went in and a nurse started to remove the bandage. I, being a blogger and a scrapbooker, asked her if I could take a picture. I had just snapped the picture when the doctor walked by and told her not to remove the bandages until he did X-rays. So she stopped. When Maranda came back to the room, the doctor came in, said hello, and started removing the bandages himself. All of the sudden, he looked up at me, and said, "I saw you taking a picture before, would you like to take one now?" I couldn't believe it. Of course, I jumped up, took my camera out of my purse, and took the picture. It was so funny, (because he is so quite & formal)-but he had the biggest smile on his face. I just couldn't believe it! It was hilarious! After he changed the bandage, then he showed us the X-rays and explained how the screw & steel pin were in the right place and everything was going as scheduled. We have to come back in a week. Then, we left and went to the court house to get the handicap sticker the doctor wanted her to get. I could not find a parking place anywhere except handicap parking with signs that say $500.00 fine. Even though I was there to get one, I told Maranda that it would be my luck to park there and even though she was sitting in the car, waiting to get one, I would be the one to get a ticket. I finally found a parking place though. Next, we take a trip to the grocery store. I offered to take her home, but I thought it would be good to get her out some. I got a wheel chair with a basket and went in to get a few things which overloaded the little basket. I did fine pushing her through the store. The basket was filled and she had some things in her lap. I guess everyone wondered what I was doing to this poor girl. I asked for some help getting out, but no one came through, so here I go pushing her out with all the groceries still in the basket and her lap. When the automatic doors, opened the wheels of the wheel chair hit a rubber rug and because of the weight of the basket from my groceries, the wheel chair almost flipped which would have put her bad foot under her! I caught it in time. It scared both of us! Then I thought to myself, to lock the wheels and go get the car. As I walked right in front of the wheel chair, it started to flip again. Fortunately, I caught the front of the wheel chair and a little elderly man grabbed the handle on the back. Maranda was saved once again! So then I have the bright idea to take everything out of the basket and set it on the sidewalk so it would not be front heavy & try to flip on us again. Then, I was going to get the car and bring it up to the sidewalk to pick her up and load my groceries. While I am taking everything out of the basket to set on the sidewalk, I noticed all the healthy people, men and women passing by looking at me, sweating, with a girl sitting in the wheel chair. I asked myself:
"Self, why are all these people passing by and not offering to help?" I kept waiting on the answer, but I never answered myself! I think I was just too tired and hot. I brought the car up and loaded my groceries and as I was about to get her into the car, a little handicapped young man came and asked me, if he could help me. I said, thank you so much. He opened the car door for her. He rolled the wheel chair over to the car and helped get her in. He asked what happened to her and told her he wished her well. I just thought that was so ironic that of all the people that passed us by, it took someone that was handicapped to take the time to help us. It really made us think. The next time I see someone in need, I hope that I take a minute out of my day to help them. Well, that was our day today. Wonder what tomorrow will hold? Well, I may have a surprise to tell you. I hope so. We will see.

One Day At A Time

I got up early while it was still cool and started tilling my garden. My garden is pretty big, so it takes a while. I love to see it when it is first tilled. The dirt is so fresh. I am amazed how good my garden has grown since this is the first time I have planted in this location on our property. Look at the vine that is running in the pasture. That is a gourd vine. It is running everywhere and is full of gourds. I sure am glad I just planted 1 plant. I was so afraid that it wouldn't make enough gourds. My "Sweet honey" gave me the best compliment the other day. Actually, he has gave me several compliments lately. But concerning my garden, he said that I have exceeded his expectations. He did the hard stuff like having it plowed and staking my tomatoes, but I have done everything else. I love it. I am proud of it. Did you see my 7 Day Pickles that I am making? They smell so good. I also worked on some much needed paper work this afternoon. I was hoping to accomplish more, but tomorrow is another day. Then, before I knew it, it was time to cook supper. We had Tortilla Soup with chips, guacomole dip, salsa and for dessert, we had some no bake orange juice cookies. It is a new recipe.
My"Sweet daughter" has made good progress today. Her pain level is much better. She has been up more today than before. She also has ate better today. She goes to the doctor in the morning. I took a picture of her and her honey. She is looking better everyday.
My "Sweet Son" has to deal with his pain every day. He has actually been taking care of our grandpuppy, "Bella" for Maranda. I think he is getting attached. When he brings the pup to see her, it actually cries for him. He has been a great help.
Well, wonder what tomorrow will hold? I am excited to find out! Lots of catching up to do around here. Little by little, one day at a time!

Little By Little

Our "Sweet Daughter" is doing a little better. She has sat up more today. She seems to be using the crutches better. She has only been on them twice today so far. My "Sweet Son" went to the Doctor today and they are sending him to a pain specialists. They think the nerves in the shoulder is just shooting sparks from being damaged and he may have to live with this and just learn how to manage it. I don't see that happening, but I guess that is why they are doctors and I am just a Mom! While everyone was resting today, I was working. I have some much needed housework to catch up on since I have had grandchildren all summer. Now that they are all back in school, I have a lot to do! I started with my screened in porch. I washed it from the top to the bottom. I rearranged my furniture and even changed my wicker furniture out for some furniture I had on the deck. It is nice to have a change ever so often. And it sure feels good to know that little by little I am getting some catching up done. Tomorrow is a new day and I am excited to see what I get done next. We ended our day today with a delicious Chicken casserole, yeast rolls & salad and topped it off with homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies! Little by little......

Don't forget to check out Day 3 of My 7 Day Sweet Pickles!
